The first exterior appearance of Storm's End, the ancestral seat of House Baratheon, a location often mentioned but never seen in Game of Thrones (2011); an interior was previously seen in King of the Narrow Sea (2022).
During the confrontation scene between Otto Hightower and Rhaenyra at Dragonstone, Hightower never mentions Alicent's story that Viserys changed the succession to Aegon on his deathbed. He says instead in response to Rhaenyra citing the oaths of the Lords Paramount to her, "Stale oaths will not put you on the Iron Throne, Princess. The succession changed the day your father sired a son. I only regret that you and he were the last to see the truth of it." This was arguably an open admission that he and the Small Council had usurped the throne and had been planning to for years.
The episode title refers to Rhaenyra's title the Black Queen, as she claims to be the queen of Westeros and the leader of the faction called the Blacks.
