Toby Whithouse's Before The Flood tips its top hat to several references from Doctor Who and elsewhere. Here are our spots...
This article contains lots and lots of spoilers for Before The Flood.
The Doctor and his friends may have gone back to before the flood in this episode, but even the 1980s aren’t safe from echoes of the past; if anything, there’s more of them there, on account of it being the past. So here are our geeky viewing notes for this week’s episode...
Before The Revival
The Doctor seemingly opens the episode by addressing the audience. There have been a handful of occasions in the past on which the Doctor speaks straight into the camera and could possibly be talking to the viewers - Tom Baker’s glib “Even the sonic screwdriver won’t get me out of this one” in The Invasion Of Time,...

At the weekend, actor Benedict Wong spoke briefly about his role in Prometheus and its 3D. Here’s what he had to say…
As Ridley Scott's much-anticipated Alien prequel looms ever closer, more information about Prometheus continues to emerge. Actor Benedict Wong was a guest of Peter Serafinowicz on his BBC 6 Music show on Saturday, and revealed a little about his role and some of the behind-the-scenes activity.
Wong, who plays Ravel in the film, is no stranger to science fiction, having appeared in Moon and Sunshine (and also known for his roles in UK sitcom The It Crowd and his interviewer's short-lived sketch series, The Peter Serafinowicz Show). After a brief discussion of Avatar and the re-release of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (for which Serafinowicz provided the voice of Darth Maul), Wong talked about the technical aspects of Prometheus:

Much to our surprise, one of the most popular stories we've run in the last few months was the news from the comedian Peter Serafinowicz that he was working on a film featuring his cult creation Brian Butterfield, an obese, incompetent middle-aged man who seems to botch everything he turns his hand to, but it speaks to the extent to which Butterfield, and Serafinowicz, has grown more and more popular in the four years since "The Peter Serafinowicz Show" was on the air, thanks principally to the proliferation of his work on the Internet, and the actor/writer/director's star status on Twitter. But other than the fact that it existed, there hasn't been much to report on the Brian Butterfield film. Until now, that is; Serafinowicz has given an interview to UK comedy site Chortle, and revealed, among other things, that he's enlisted the man behind perhaps the greatest...

Will Now Spend The Rest Of His Life Saying 'It's Still Being Written' In Interviews If you're not familiar with Peter Serafinowicz, rest assured, he's a very, very funny man. First coming to prominence as the voice of Darth Maul in "The Phantom Menace," the actor spent years cropping up in the best of British comedies like "Spaced," "Black Books" and "Look Around You," as well as a major supporting role in "Shaun of the Dead." In recent years, however, he's gone from strength to strength; with his absurdist sketch show "The Peter Serafinowicz Show" becoming a cult hit (watch…...

Of the four actors just cast in Robert Zemeckis' remake of Yellow Submarine, Peter Serafinowicz is by far the most appropriate. Americans primarily know him as Simon Pegg's flatmate in Shaun of the Dead and maybe also Pegg's arch-nemesis on the British TV series Spaced (he also recently appeared in Couples Retreat). But Serafinowicz is a well-known impersonator in the UK who has lampooned the Fab Four multiple times on his sketch series The Peter Serafinowicz Show.
Though Zemeckis cast him as the voice of Paul McCartney for his performance capture remake, Serafinowicz portrayed all of The Beatles in a recurring bit called "Ringo Remembers," in which the drummer recalls significant events in the history of the band and the members' solo careers. The silliest sketch of the bunch features his portrayals of John, Paul, George and Ringo during the recording of the Let It Be album and...

Looks like the cast is coming together for Robert Zemeckis' next project, which of course, will be yet another 3-D performance capture film along the lines of Beowulf and A Christmas Carol. It was announced last summer [1] that Zemeckis would be remaking the classic animated Beatles film Yellow Submarine, and now he has four actors in mind to play the Fab Four on screen. According to THR's Heat Vision Blog [2], the following actors are currently in negotiations to play John Lennon, George Harrison, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr: Dean Lennox Kelly (Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel), Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride, Saw), Peter Serafinowicz (Couples Retreat, The Peter Serafinowicz Show), and Adam Campbell (Epic Movie, Harper's Island). They don't really look like any of The Beatles, but that doesn't matter since their movements will simply be mapped to 3-D representations of the characters. It also doesn't matter...

Vince Vaughn. Kristen Bell. Jason Bateman. Jon Favreau. Kristin Davis. Malin Akerman. Yes, the forthcoming comedy Couples Retreat boasts a darn starry cast. But I'm most likely to go and see it because of one man: Peter Serafinowicz. "Peter who?" you may ask. It's a reasonable question, although Star Wars fans might recall him as the guy who voiced Darth Maul, and the British Serafinowicz is notably limber in the vocal chord department. (I remember once seeing on YouTube some footage of him running through a bajillion different voices in 7 seconds — I exaggerate only slightly.) But the guy is a hugely talented comedian whose credits include his excellent, recently-broadcast-on-Adult Swim, fake science show Look Around You, and the even more terrific UK sitcom Spaced (the first episode of which, coincidentally, was first broadcast in Britain exactly ten years ago this week!). He also played Simon Pegg's irritating roommate-turned-ghoul in...

London -- British funny man Peter Serafinowicz has joined the cast of Peter Billingsley's "Couples Retreat" for Universal Films.
Serafinowicz, most recently seen in his self-titled TV comedy sketch show, "The Peter Serafinowicz Show," will appear alongside "Couples" cast members Jason Bateman, Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn.
The movie is billed as a comic story about a couple on the verge of separating who convince their friends to go on holiday with them at a couple's resort on a tropical island.
Serafinowicz will play the British owner of Eden West Resort who oversees the couples' stay as it begins to emerge that the vacation was not quite what they expected.
