  Lois Lane : Clark, it's not your fault. You didn't even know anything was happening until today.

  [sneezing again and clutching his chest in pain]

  [seeing the bruises on his body] 

  Lois Lane : Oh, my god, what happened?

  Lois Lane : Did they use kryptonite?

  Clark Kent : No, regular bullets.

  Lois Lane : This isn't normal. Superman doesn't bruise, especially not from bullets.

  Clark Kent : Do you think it has something to do with that gas Rosetti used?

  Lois Lane : I don't know. We're gonna have to call my dad.

• Emily Phan : Clark?

  Clark Kent : Emily, hi.

  Emily Phan : I heard you were back in town.

  Clark Kent : Yeah, I'm sorry I haven't seen you. It's been crazy since we moved here.

  Emily Phan : I bet. Me, too, actually, but for the better.

  Clark Kent : Oh, yeah? I heard you were working at Edge EnerCorp.

  Emily Phan : It has changed my life. I feel great. I can think better, focus, you know, problems that seemed impossible before are like nothing now.

  Clark Kent : Really? Wow, you know what? Actually, I would love to talk to you about that.

  Emily Phan : Like, you're looking for work?

  Jonathan Kent : [Jordan sneezes, covering a lamp in ice]  Dad, that does not seem fine.

  Jordan Kent : [clutching his chest]  It's getting harder to breathe.

  Jonathan Kent : What is happening to him?

  Clark Kent : We can't wait for your dad.

  [as Emily and her companion burst in, Jon fires it, blasting them backward] 

  Kyle Cushing : Pretty good with that thing.

  [he fires heat vision, which knocks it out of Jon's hand, then speeds forward and grabs them by the throats] 

  Kyle Cushing : We're not just gonna kill you, Lois. He wanted you to suffer first.

  [as he prepares to fire his heat vision again, he's tackled out of the barn by Superman] 

  Superman : [coming back and looking around with his x-ray vision]  They're gone.

• Clark Kent : I'm sorry, Jordan. Your life right now is completely changed because of who I am. Everything that's happening to you, you didn't ask for any of this.

  Jordan Kent : I didn't, but you didn't ask for what happened to you, either.

• Clark Kent : Jordan's been infected with kryptonite. It's affecting his breathing.

  Jor-El : He's in respiratory distress.

  Jordan Kent : [Clark speeds over to him]  What?

  Clark Kent : Come here. Come here. We're gonna have to burn the kryptonite out of your system.

  Jordan Kent : Burn it how?

  Clark Kent : With heat. With some immense heat.

  Jordan Kent : No, no...

  Clark Kent : Hey, hey, listen to me. Listen to me. Listen to me. This is the only way, okay? We have to do this, otherwise your lungs could completely freeze.

  Jordan Kent : Dad, I-I'm scared.

  Clark Kent : I'm gonna be right here. You're gonna take my hand, okay? You're gonna squeeze as hard as you need to, okay? You can do this.

• Lois Lane : Derek Powell's from New Carthage. Reno Rosetti's from Metropolis.

  Clark Kent : [looking through an old yearbook]  David Fuglestad and Leslie Larr are from Smallville.

  Lois Lane : When Derek Powell killed himself, what did he say to you?

  Clark Kent : That he was already dead.

  Lois Lane : And his powers were fritzing.

  Clark Kent : Yeah, just like Rosetti's. That didn't happen when I fought David.

  Lois Lane : And it didn't happen with Leslie.

  Clark Kent : When I landed here, there were meteor showers all over the world for an entire week.

  Lois Lane : Right, remnants of Krypton. That's why there's kryptonite.

  Clark Kent : Right, every form of kryptonite, and the kind that landed here is buried in the mines.

  Lois Lane : Was X-Kryptonite. So the only place in the world that has X-Kryptonite is also the only place that has people who've been exposed to it long enough to accept its effects.

  Clark Kent : Like Tag Harris. It's not Smallville Edge needs to build his army.

  Lois Lane : It's the people.

  [seeing him react to something] 

  Lois Lane : What?

  Clark Kent : It's your ELT.

  Lois Lane : Edge.

  [as Superman flies forward, Edge easily knocks him down] 

  Morgan Edge : Did you really think I'd be giving people powers without having them myself? You see, I got mine the same time you did, Kal-El, when I arrived on this planet.

  Morgan Edge : [floating into the air]  I think it's time you learned the truth about who I am and where I'm really from... brother.
