This entire show from the pilot thru to this episode is a solid 5/10 & nothing more, not an insult just an honest opinion & a far more accurate rating than the OTT ratings from other reviewers.
Better than most shows that are of DCs characters, but the only thing that elevates this show above the other DC shows is the budget for its cgi & the choices of how & when to use it, other than that the stories /plots are still as silly as the other shows, but this episode the writers & producers take a leaf out of the CWs way of doing things by actually crapping all over the entire Superman mythos, something that was already done in the CW TV series Supergirl, so now not only did Supergirl arrive on earth before Superman but Morgan Edge arrived before both of them, I get that these execs want a fresh new retelling of a character that has had his story told several times in movies & TV shows but to belittle the character into being just another alien & not even the original survivor of a dying planet is just taking a dump all over the entire Superman story, but this is par for the course where Geoff Johns is involved.
This show is well made & looks every bit the expensive & professional product that it is but the stories lack the exciting & positive nature that this character should be about & instead opts to mimic the dark & constant dreary nature of the Zak Snyder abomination, not a single episode of this show so far is anything other than doom & gloom, almost none of the endless add on characters enhance or further any of the stories except to add dull, drab pointless drama.
Can't help but feel this show is an opportunity missed, exploring the development of superman's son & his emerging powers & ultimately his place alongside Superman in their crime fighting instead of the boring Morgan Edge drama.
