Unique, funny film with amazing soundtrack

Uplifting! This is such a fun film! I loved the characters and all the wacky scenes--the "pop-up" video took me back to MTV days. Really funny! The singing is amazing--real teens singing their hearts out. (Watched it on iTunes.)

Fabulous Film

Great story, great acting, great costumes, great music, and great jokes - some of them subtle enough that you have to listen carefully. Another beautiful indie creation by Klassen and co.

So funny I had to see it twice!

Stupid for You deserves a second viewing just to catch all the sly humour and to really appreciate the music. Watch for the relationship advice post-it notes on Dani's wall and the convincing MuchMusic/MTV video for her bands hit song 😊

Great flick!

What an awesome film! I really enjoyed the musical aspects, especially the brilliant use of the "Pop-Up Video" conceit (I'll stop there to avoid spoilers!) the songs were catchy and the lyrics had a lot of depth but didn't take themselves too seriously!

I appreciated the sweet, heartwarming story, and it was cool that both mother and child were wrestling with similar problems, just at different stages of their lives. The story was well-acted and downright fun. Jude Klassen's impressive directing chops are on full display, utilizing creative framing, great use of colour, and of course nonstop great music!

Highly recommend!

Great funny and poignant LGBTQ comedy and musical film

What I love about this wonderful film is that there's a story arc for teens and one for adults. In the teen story, Kat falls stupid in love with Eden and all manner of mishaps result. In the adult story, Kat's mother, Dani, the leader of a once famous punk band, falls in love with -- well a few people. More mishaps result. Jude Klassen, writer, director, singer/songwriter, plays the mom in the film. Klassen brings her trademark musical style to her movie (punk, fun, quirky, intelligent), a great story line and thoughtful performances. I loved the writing and I was really brought into the story by the actors. I felt the emotional turmoil everyone was going through. A song highlight was one called "Thin Skinned" which really sums up the human relationship experience.
