- GLASSBOY Pino Gambassi is a child suffering from haemophilia and is animated by an unbridled desire for freedom and boundless courage: he decides to start his adventure in the world and to show everyone that he can live his life like a normal kid.
- In a remote and lively countryside across the mountains, far far away, Glassboy, 11 years old, is a boy like many others, but his is no ordinary life. He lives confined in his aristocratic family house as if he were inside an aquarium, because of a mysterious illness. Pino, this is the name of Glassboy, can never get out, he can't run and he can't play with his peers. He can just look at them from his bedroom window and fantasize about being there with them, especially with a Boys of the Old Square, a funny group of Boys that always play below his house and storm along the streets of the town. Those boys found this surname for him. One day Pino angrily reacts to one last gift: a secret diary. What kind of secrets could he ever write about, since he can't ever get out of his house? He spends every day in his magic kingdom - his bedroom, where every corner is smoothed, the floor is a big, endless rug and all the big toys can't hurt him. He doesn't even go to school, he is home-schooled by a lazy tutor. The adventure books his dad Giorgio gives him are the only getaway, together with the big window from which he dreamily observes the big square and the Gang's kids. Will he ever be able to be part of it all? The desire to discover the world has gotten too big. The huge mansion simply isn't enough anymore. Everything suddenly change when Giorgio, his dad, can't resist anymore and takes his chances; he gets out of the mansion and takes Pino with him. And in the middle of impassioned match of soccer, Pino can't believe his eyes: the Old Square Boys are in front of him and he is about to meet them. Their names are Marco, who is the leader, Michele, Domenico and Ciccio. He hears his nickname for the first time: Glass boy. "They know me" he naively thinks. Pino is upset by this first encounter and can't contain his excitement: now he has his first secret. Will he ever be able to become friends with them? There are so many obstacles to overcome. The strange illness he got when he was not expecting it. His life as a prisoner. The terrible Marchioness, his grandma and the last heiress of the antique family lineage. Elisa is completely dominated by her. Grandma thinks that her grandson's illness is the sign of a superior diversity, just like an old ancestor's. Pino can't blend in with common people. But Pino can't give up. Living has become something way too important. Encouraged by his dad, Pino doesn't miss the chance to meet the Gang's guys once again, and a soft friendship grows, especially with Marco, who can't believe his eyes when he enters Pino's room and discovers his magic world. Fearless, strong Marco decides not to abandon his friend to his prisoner's destiny and decides to fight for that friendship. But how to overcome those walls that keep them from having a normal friendship? An incredible adventure begins here: Pino struggles to face the real world and to become part of the Group, finally ready to challenge his destiny to special boy out of the life and overcome own limits. With his friends' support and, for the first time, surrounded by kids just like him, Pino deals with everyday's adventures and finally leads the life of a kid - little fights, new friends, first romances. But happiness is maybe just a mirage. His grandma becomes more and more obsessed by Pino's special condition and can't accept to see him in a public school. Therefore, she decides to commit a last, crazy action. Helped by her trustworthy chauffeur and the old tutor, she kidnaps Pino and locks him up inside her gloomy castle outside of town. Pino vanishes and is forced to give-come back to his old life. Pino's disappearance becomes a case. Giorgio and Elisa are inconsolable. The police grope in the dark. Grandma pretends to help and misleads the investigation. Only the Gang's kids can, maybe, do something. Marco, Michele, Domenico and Ciccio, determined not to abandon Pino, decide to start investigating. During draining researches, always using their bikes, something catches their attention. Marco realizes where Pino is being kept hidden. But who would ever believe four kids like them? And why would a grandmother kidnap her own grandson? There are no alternatives: they have to get to the castle and face the terrible Marchioness. The kids climb on their bikes and head toward the big rocky mountains.
Will they be able to find Pino and escape the terrible Marchioness? Will they be able to give Pino back his freedom and come back safe and sound? Will Pino be able to get back to his life as a special kid and to embrace his parents again? And what will happen to Glassboy's life? All the answers lie in an incredible adventure, a furious dream, a fantastic fight for freedom, a wild rush in the middle of a sudden night, looking for a certain freedom - the freedom to live - ready to reveal the last, unexpected secrets.
