- Relationships deepen as stakes increase. To save a life, Hastings and Ana must do the unthinkable. Gabriella and Daimon journey to his childhood home in search of an old relic. A mother loses a son but gains an heir.
- After recovering the first blade, Daimon and Gabriella go to Daimon's childhood home to recover the second blade. Meanwhile, Ana convinces Hastings to use the first blade to kill Victoria and the demon within her. However, the demon, Kthara, has plans of her own.—Gislef
- As Daimon and Gabriella drive to Daimon's home, Daimon calls Ana away from the meeting, Daimon calls Ana and leaves a message that the Blood just attacked him and might attack her. As he hangs up, Gabriella tells him that he needs to go to the hospital or call the police. Daimon points out that can't turn himself in for attempted murder. She insists on checking his gunshot wound and discovers that it's already healing.
Gabriella assures Daimon that his killing the two Blood operatives was reflexive self-defense, but Daimon doesn't believe it. He figures the knife is in Gabriella's pocket, and the novitiate takes it out. She says it was Father's, and he takes the knife that Gabriella offers to him. Daimon says that the cut is the only thing that he never healed from and left a scar, and that the blade feels like Father. Gabriella tells Daimon that they need to get rid of the knife, and Daimon tells her that there's another one that they also need to get rid of.
On the freighter, Victoria holds Spivey's busy and sings her son a lullaby in the demonic tongue. Crow comes in empty-handed, and Victoria tells him that she doesn't want excuses. She says that they'll have help soon, and "one who has always been loyal" is coming. Victoria tells Crow that the one coming has the finesse that he lacks, and tells Crow to respect the sacrifices that her son Basar has made and the suffering he has endured. She tells Basar to rest and they'll meet again soon, then removes his demon essence from Spivey's body. Victoria orders Crow to take care of her boy.
Daimon and Gabriella drive to St. Theresa's, and Daimon remembers Father using the two knives in knife in his childhood to scar his chest... and Daimon knocking one of them out of Father's hand and across the floor. Gabriella goes into Hastings' office, and Hastings finds the novitiate there. She explains that the Blood attacked them the night before, and she left Hastings the knife they recovered. Hastings blames herself for the Blood attack.
After Hastings tells Gabriella about her meeting with Terrazi, Gabriella leaves with Daimon and tells him what Hastings told her. She says that she's been reporting to Terrazi about Daimon, and wonders if she's been giving information to the Blood. Daimon points out that Terrazi is just a man, and Gabriella shouldn't put her faith in any man, even him.
Ana returns Daimon's call and says that no one has attacked her. She admits that she's let anger get to her, and Daimon apologizes for judging her earlier. He says that she was right with what she said earlier, and says that she's at St. Theresa's and they should talk in person. Daimon says that he's going to their childhood home to get the other knife. Ana warns him that it's a terrible idea because the knife is evil, and Daimon notes that even though he hid it so it would never see the light of day again, they can use it to finish Mother and the Blood. When Ana points out that it will kill Victoria as well as Kthara, Damion figure that there's no hope of getting their mother back. He says that they have to end it before someone else gets hurt, and makes Ana promise to wait for him so they can hunt Kthara down together.
As Hastings opens her safe in her office, Ana comes in and demands to see the first blade. The doctor reluctantly takes it out of the safe and shows it to Ana, and Ana gasps and says that it's toxic. Hastings breaks into coughing from her lung cancer, spitting up blood on the knife on her table.
At a Blood base, Esther has Finn imprisoned in a cage. He begs Esther to let him out, but she points out that since Crow marked him, he'll probably be Kthara's future host. Finn wants Esther to kill him, and Esther reminds him of oath they took to destroy Father and his brood, that killed their families. The prisoner is willing to fight and kill, but not act as bait. A Blood operative, Ahmad, gets a call, comes over and says that they found it. Esther tells Finn to remember what they're fighting for.
Ana pours Hastings a drink and tells Hastings that they need to lock the knife away before it kills Hastings. Hastings insists that her cancer has nothing to do with magic, and admits that she called in Gabriella because the cancer is killing her. The doctor says that Daimon doesn't know and asks Ana not to tell him because he has enough going on. Ana warns that Daimon will never forgive her, and Hastings says that Caretaker is the only other person who knows, and he disappeared. Irritated, Ana says that Caretaker did the same thing when she was a child: disappearing when she needed him most.
Hastings says that Caretaker is torn between worlds: the Blood and Ana. She tells Ana that Caretaker has always wanted what's best for her, and he thought she should be connected with her family but the Blood disagreed. Hastings says that Caretaker might have told the Blood about the knife if he thought they were going to use it on Mother.
Daimon and Gabriela go to the old Helstrom house, and Daimon notes that Father always picked quiet places away from prying eyes. He warns that Kthara has access to Victoria's memories, and the entity's minions might already be there. Daimon assures Gabriella that he won't cause a scene, and a real estate agent comes out and puts up a sign saying there's an open house.
As Ahmad crafts a new weapon, Finn winces in pain as he's possessed. Ahmad notices and comes over to the cage and--figuring that he's addressing Kthara--says that the weapon is for her. Finn telekinetically knocks the weapon out of Ahmad's hand and into the other operative. Finn telekinetically breaks out of the cage and says that his name is Magoth, as Ahmad runs. Magoth then throws the dagger into Ahmad's back, killing him.
Daimon and Gabriella look around the interior of the open house, and the agent shows it off to them. She assumes that Daimon and Gabriella are a couple, and the two of them play along. Daimon asks if the agent has heard anything weird about the house, and she says that it's been on the market several times. The agent takes them to see the kitchen, while another couple look after them.
Finn comes to the freighter, and Kthara tells Magoth that he's done well serving Basar. She says that they need to get hold of Daimon and Gabriella, and Raum will bait the trap while Magoth goes to the house. Magoth leaves, and Kthara assures Basar that soon he will have a new body.
Hastings finds Ana in Victoria's old cell, lying on the bunk. Ana explains that the room has Victoria's energy, and Hastings says that Crow called Gabriella's line asking for "her" exorcist. He says that there is a disturbed woman down by the docks. The doctor points out that Crow attacked Gabriella and is trying to lure Daimon out, and Ana figures that they won't be expecting her if they're trying to lure Daimon in. Hastings follows her out and insists that they should wait for Daimon, but Ana says that the two of them can end Victoria now. When Hastings tells Ana that she and Daimon should go together, Ana warns that Daimon will want to save Victoria, not kill her. Hastings reluctantly agrees, and Ana then tells the doctor that she'll need a favor from her.
Daimon and Gabriela watch the other couple, who Daimon has always realized are Blood operatives. He figures that they came for the second knife but don't know where Daimon hid it. Gabriella suggests that they draw the demons away from the innocents checking the house. Daimon isn't impressed with her idea, and once the couple steps aside, Daimon goes over to the couple and says that when he was a kid there was an abandoned barn nearby. The operative couple overhear him as he says that he and his sister played in the barn as children. The agent says that it's not part of the house property but she can get hold of the family that does own it.
Once the agent steps aside, Daimon goes over to Gabriella. She thinks that they need a plan, and he tells her that he has one. Gabriella asks what it is, and Daimon says that they'll wait the Blood out.
Ana has Hastings take the knife out, and warns that if she touches it she'll feel the pain of everyone it's been used to kill. She can't wield it to strike the final blow, and tells Hastings that she'll have to do it. Hastings says that she can't, and Ana tells her that it's all hands on deck and Hastings can't just stand aside. Ana wonders if Hastings thinks Daimon should have to take a life, and warns that if Victoria's body dies then Kthara goes free. The knife can dissipate Kthara's energy forever. Hastings still isn't convinced, but gives in figuring she doesn't have long to life with the guilt anyway.
Daimon waits in the house's basement, and remembers Father trying to kill him as a child. Gabriella comes down and says that the Blood have left, and tells Daimon that it must be hard coming back to his childhood home. Daimon says that Father gave him a normal childhood... until it wasn't. He warns Gabriella that being around him puts her in danger, and insists that he's not in any danger because he has his father's gifts. Gabriella says that Daimon is different, but he doesn't believe it and Father knew it. He gave Daimon the scar so he'd always remember it, and the knives were to fulfill their potential.
Gabriella tells Daimon that he's a better person, and Daimon notes that he keeps killing because they bring the fight to him and know what he's capable of. He says that he'll get the knife when night falls, and if the Blood tries to stop him then he'll show them what he really is.
After night falls, Daimon goes out to dig up the buried knife in the barn. As he digs, he remembers his childhood when the other boys taunted him and his powers went out of control. Hastings, then a nun, arrived. In the present, Daimon finds the buried knife. Armed Blood operatives attack him. They put a medallion on his forehead to immobilize him, then discover that the "knife" is just a childhood figurine.
Damion says that they should have let it go, and telekinetically throws them all away. He then tells them that he has to make an example of them.
Ana and Hastings go the freighter, and they find Kthara in Victoria's body. Hastings takes out the knife, and Victoria stares at in shock. They attack Victoria, who telekinetically immobilizes Hastings before she can stab Victoria's body. Kthara forces Hastings to stab Ana in the leg, and Ana feels the pain of everyone the knife has killed.
Gabriella goes to the barn after find the operatives' cars. Daimon has hung up the operatives by nooses and balanced them on supports, and he tells Gabriella to wait outside.
Hastings pulls the knife out of Ana's leg, and Victoria promises Ana that she'll feel the pain of the blade forever.
Damion tells Gabriella that the Blood only understands extremes, so he's going to show them who he is. He knocks out one support, and holds the operative up telekinetically. Gabriella begs Daimon to stop.
As Ana staggers to her feet, Kthara tells her to kill Victoria's body and damn Victoria's soul forever. Victoria collapses, and the human apparently takes control of her body back and smiles. Hastings warns Ana that Kthara lies, and Ana telekinetically knocks the knife out of Hastings' hand. She grabs a pillow and smothers Victoria, telling Hasting that she's saving her mother's life.
Damion knocks away more supports, telekinetically holding the operatives up so they don't hang. Gabriella asks him to stop, and Daimon says that it's for Esther. He calls her to come out, and Esther emerges from the shadows.
Hastings warns Ana that if Victoria's body dies, Kthara escapes. Ana figures that they can revive Victoria afterward, freeing her from the possession. Hastings hands the knife to Ana and tells her to use it, or Kthara will come back again to kill. Ana insists that they can save Victoria now by smothering and then reviving her, and Hastings tosses the knife away.
Ana finishes smothering Victoria, touches her mother's face, and confirms that Kthara is gone. Hastings applies CPR to Victoria's body, while Ana goes to call an ambulance.
Gabriella tells Daimon that she knows what it is to be angry. Esther asks what more Damion has to do to convince Gabriella that he's evil. Daimon asks if Esther is ready to beg for her people's lives, but Esther says that Daimon will kill them all... and prove that he's demonic. He tells the operatives that's Esther's idea of mercy, and lets them drop a few feet.
Gabriella grabs a shovel, threatens to hit Daimon, and tells him to let the operatives go. He advises her not to break his concentration, then admits that he's like Father but he's also human. That gives him the power of forgiveness, and he safely drops the operatives to the floor. Daimon then tells Esther that he forgives her for her prejudice, treachery, and stupidity. He says that the war is over as far as he's concerned, and they're lucky they came after him rather than Ana. With that, Daimon walks out with Gabriella.
Ana angrily tells Victoria to fight, and asks if Victoria is going to give Daimon the satisfaction of Ana killing her. Victoria starts breathing and tells Ana to use her inside voice.
Daimon breaks into his childhood home and finds the knife where he hid it. As he holds it, he remembers his childhood where Hastings assures Damion that he was no monster.
Later, Daimon and Gabriella drive away, and Daimon briefly looks at Gabriella. She looks back at him, smiling, and Daimon goes back to driving. When they return to Daimon's home, he says that he would have let the operative free whether Gabriella was there or not. She says that she wouldn't have gone along with Damion's plan if he had told her, and Damion jokes about how eager she was to play along with the fact they were a couple.
Damion wonders what the Vatican would say if they could see Gabriella now, drinking with a demon. Gabriella assure Daimon that he's not a demon, and says that she's not a nun... yet. As they look at each other, Daimon's phone rings. It's Ana, who is at the hospital with Victoria. She tells her brother that Victoria is free of Kthara, even if Daimon won't like how Ana did it. Ana tells Daimon that there's no point in his calling there because Victoria is doped up, and she'll take care of Victoria after Daimon has taken care of her for 20 years. Meanwhile, Hasting tells the attending physician that she wants to talk to her later about options for treating Victoria.
Once Daimon hangs up, he tells Gabriella that Ana has freed Victoria. Gabriella points out that Daimon doesn't look happy, and he says that he is but he always thought he'd be the one who freed Victoria. Daimon feels like he owed it to Victoria, and it seems like he gave up on her. Gabriella points out that Daimon brought Ana and Victoria together, and it's a miracle that he got Ana to come back and help. Daimon jokingly asks if she's going to tell Ana that, and Gabriella agrees. Gabriella tells him that now he's free, and he can do whatever he wants. Daimon agrees and they hug... and then kiss.
After a moment, Gabriella assures Daimon that she hasn't taken any vows yet. She continues kissing Daimon, and he asks for a minute to clean up... and give Gabriella a minute to consider. Once she's alone, Gabriella unclips her hair and looks at herself in the reflection on the window. She hears something move at the front door, and goes to investigate.
As Gabriella approaches the front door, she clutches at her head in pain. She finds a possession mark on her hair, beneath the hair, and remembers Spivey scratching her head at St. Theresa's when he attacked. Gabriella collapses and Kthara possesses her.
Damion is showering, and Gabriella/Kthara enters the bathroom as he hears someone moving in the house. He comes out, and Gabriella/Kthara asks him if he has room for one more in the shower. Damion realizes that something is wrong, and Gabriella/Kthara shoves him against the wall. He fights back and pins her against the wall, but is unable to exorcise her because his powers never worked on Kthara.
Gabriella/Kthara telekinetically pins him against the shower wall, and says that she wants to truly live in the world. She puts a small demon entity of Basar onto Damion's back, and Gabriella/Kthara tells him to just let it happen. After a moment, Basar takes over Damion's body. The two of them go to Damion's bed and have sex.
