Even weeks after new Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav abruptly canceled the nearly-completed Batgirl movie, people are having a variety of reactions. Michael Keaton, who was slated to reprise his role as Batman in the movie, seemed fairly nonchalant when asked about it at the Emmy Awards. “I think it was a business decision; I’m going to assume it was a good one.,” he told TVLine. Directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have received support and encouragement from a variety of filmmakers, including Edgar Wright and Kevin Feige. But perhaps the best reaction has come from a more unofficial source.
Not content to wait for a Snyder-like budget, the Corridor Crew — a team of VFX artists working for Corridor Digital — have assembled their own version of the trailer. Thanks to Warner Bros. Discovery shelving the Batgirl movie, we may never get to see anything noteworthy from the production again. Thankfully, the folks at Corridor Digital have given us a small taste of what the Batgirl movie could have been with their very own “leaked” trailer.
Boasting some excellent visual effects and costumes, Corridor’s Batgirl trailer includes footage of Commissioner Gordon (J.K. Simmons), Firefly (Brendan Fraser), and Batman (Michael Keaton) pulled from other movies. It also ends with a bit of a meta-tag that left me laughing. Check it out for yourself above! You can also check out a video explaining just how Corridor went about making the trailer right here.
Related Brendan Fraser calls Batgirl cancellation “disappointing”
As Warner Bros. Discovery chose to pull the plug on Batgirl to take advantage of a tax write-down, it’s highly unlikely that we’ll ever get to see anything from the movie.

At Telluride, people couldn’t stop talking about Cate Blanchett in Todd Field’s “TÁR,” or Sarah Polley’s “Women Talking.” However, one of the most intriguing sources of buzz wasn’t a film at all: Everyone had an opinion about the Academy’s screening portal, the world’s most-curated streaming site that’s unavailable by subscription.
More than ever, Academy members are comfortable streaming Oscar contenders at home — and that means things are about get really complicated. Figuring out how to engage voters who can browse their options like a Netflix queue will be one of the biggest challenges this season.
Any Oscar-contending film also contends with “the awards corridor” — that narrow period in which too many films fight for a theatrical release slot that will best capture the audience’s and the voters’ attention. Now, awards campaigns face another release calendar that’s truly hellish: Imagine a major...

Swedish screenwriters and directors Johan Storm and Johan Lundborg attended Fantastic Fest this year for the American debut of two films -- the thriller Corridor (Isolerad) and a 30-minute short film, Rosenhill. Both of these suspenseful movies were well received by audiences at Fantastic Fest, and you can read my review of Corridor. Emil Johnsen, lead actor from Corridor was also here to support the film at both Q&As.
I sat down during the fest with "the Johans" to discuss their films, as well as differences between American and European film audiences and festivals. Johan Storm's uncle is actor Peter Stormare, and we also talked about his involvement in Corridor. Here's what they had to say:
What's it been like to screen Corridor at Fantastic Fest?
Johan Storm: It was the second screening ever of the film. It was a tremendous experience to see it with an audience that good,...

The folks at EastWest Distribution have alerted us to their trailer for Isolerad ( Corridor ), written and directed by Johan Lundborg and Johan Storm. Peter Stormare ( Constantine ) co-stars in this film about a lonely medical student Frank (Emil Johnsen) who is pleased with his flat, a quiet place to focus on his coming exams. But when he meets the girl upstairs, the intrusive Lotte (Ylva Gallon), he realizes there is something wrong with the place. Each time he leaves his apartment, Frank is scared...the talkative concierge, the annoying child, the love-sick Lotte, her brutal ex-boyfriend and above all, her new jealous boyfriend, the scary Micke (Stormare), they all seem to be Frank's enemies. Corridor is hitting the Berlin film market next month.
