This episode has some of the few instances where both her boss, The Middleman, who normally calls her "Dubby", and her roommate, who usually calls her "Dub-Dub", both call her Wendy, her real name. This happens with both of them when they're responding to her while she is in a distressed state of mind.
The title refers to the mother's one night plum wine soaked fling in Shanghai, resulting in Duncan, the last remaining heir to the Qin Dynasty.
There are a number of references to the novel Dune, by Frank Herbert, in the episode. At the mudslide restaurant, the Middleman identifies himself and Wendy as Drs. Kynes and Rabban, two characters from the novel. Duncan is a major character in the Dune saga. The character Duncan is a student at Frank Herbert Middle School, and the school mascot is the Sandworms. Duncan lives on Caladan Lane (Caladan was the original home planet of the Atreides family before they relocate to Arrakis).
Wendy did'nt think the warrior could appear at a public school because there was no Earth, just asphalt. Asphalt is a natural product of petroleum and found in deposits all around the world, la Brea tar pits is a prime example. It also can be processed from petroleum but the natural state has been used for thousands of years. The name asphalt comes from the ancient Greece word, asphalto.
