The message ain't exactly subtle!

"Millioner" is a Soviet propaganda cartoon that somehow made it to YouTube....and since it had English language captions, I decided to give it a watch. The story is a not so subtle parable about the evils of wealth.

The story begins with a rich woman and her dog having a car accident. The dog survives...the lady does not. A bunch of relatives arrive for the reading of the will and unexpectedly, the dog inherits everything. Soon, the dog becomes self-indulgent and awful...and as time passes, he begins to look more and more like a human. It is ironic, as such a change also occurred in "Animal Farm", a very anti-communist story from George Orwell!

So is it any good? Well, I am sure kids would have been perplexed watching it, as it's not especially something kids would itch to see. Also, the animation quality is rather poor. And the message is so non-subtle that it's really a bit laughable. On the other hand, while very few would likely consider this a good cartoon, it is fascinating as a historical film...showing interesting insight into the mind of the old USSR.
