- Cameron Phillips: I don't think you understand how we work. I have sensation. I feel. I wouldn't be worth much if I couldn't feel.
- Derek Reese: Some people, you can beat them and beat them, and they'll take it. Whatever pain you give them, they absorb it. It was theirs all along; all you're doing is giving it back to them. You see, deep down, they hate themselves, and they use that hate to eat the pain. See, we were all good once; we all loved ourselves once. This young man, trying to get through the day for his kids playing in the park...
- Sarah Connor: What's that?
- Cameron Phillips: It's rehydration fluid. Drink one cup every half hour or right after you vomit.
- Derek Reese: Maybe... maybe it never happened to me.
- Jesse: Derek - I was there!
- Derek Reese: Maybe I came... from a future where it never happened, and now you've come from a future where it did.
- Jesse: Is that... possible?
- Derek Reese: Since I've been back here, I've- I've done... things, I've changed... things... Maybe I changed the future. That's why we're here, isn't it, to change the future?
- Jesse: Do you think there's a version of the future where we're not together?
- Derek Reese: No.
- Sarah Connor: I've had some bad luck with shrinks.
- Dr. Boyd Sherman: Well, you could stop calling them shrinks, that might help.
- Sarah Connor: I've been sick. Flu or something. I'm exhausted, I can't sleep; and when I do, I have dreams. Nightmares actually. I walk in my sleep.
- Dr. Boyd Sherman: Where're you walking to?
- Sarah Connor: What d'you mean?
- Dr. Boyd Sherman: Where do you go when you walk?
- Sarah Connor: I'm chasing someone or I'm being chased.
- Dr. Boyd Sherman: But where do you go?
- Sarah Connor: Out. I get the hell out.
- Cameron Phillips: [waiting for Ellison] There are many things I don't understand.
- John Connor: Like what?
- Cameron Phillips: The tortoise.
- John Connor: What tortoise?
- Cameron Phillips: It was on its back by the side of the road in Mexico. Your mother turned it over.
- John Connor: She was helping it.
- Cameron Phillips: I know. But why?
- John Connor: That's what we do; when we, uh... when we see something that's, uh, in pain or in trouble or whatever, we're trying to help it.
- Cameron Phillips: Empathy?
- John Connor: Something like that.
- Cameron Phillips: But not everyone would turn a tortoise over?
- John Connor: No. Someone'd just leave it there.
- Cameron Phillips: Someone'd probably drive over it and crush it.
- John Connor: Yeah, I guess they would. Is that what you'd do?
- Cameron Phillips: It didn't seem like much of a threat. We're not built to be cruel.
- John Connor: Yeah, that's one for cyborgs.
- Cameron Phillips: Yes.
- [sees Ellison getting out of his car]
- Cameron Phillips: That's one for us.
- Charles Fischer: [to his younger self] You have no idea what you do. What's the hardest decision you've ever had to make? Huh? Whether to stay with Rebecca or take a chance on Christine? Whether to ask for time off for Grandfather's funeral, because you're too afraid you'll be fired if you just take it? You think you know who you are? You don't have a clue.
- Derek Reese: What did he do? Jesse, what did he do to you?
- Jesse: There was a raid on a bunker. Metal was everywhere. They took out our command, killed everyone over thirty, killed the children... They took the prisoners to this... place. He was there... He said he was gonna teach them how to talk to people, how to get information from people, how to beat people... It was a kind of perverse theatre, like... like he was teaching them.
- Derek Reese: How long did it go on?
- Jesse: Weeks... months... There were drugs... and starvation. And he'd talk to you... for hours, for days. Just to break you down. Just to get you in a... to get to you.
- Derek Reese: How'd you get out?
- Jesse: I don't know. You never told me.
- Derek Reese: What?
- Jesse: It wasn't me Fisher had, baby. It was you.
- Dr. Boyd Sherman: Why are you here? I mean, you come in here pretending you... want to talk about your dreams, and refusing to talk about John and Cameron - which, in my opinion is what your obsession with the three dots is all about. So if you only wanna talk about one of those dots, there's not much I can do.
- Derek Reese: [after noticing Fisher's clock-tattoo] Where did you time?
- Charles Fischer: I haven't done any time.
- Derek Reese: Yes you have.
- Charles Fischer: No, it's a ta... It's a tattoo. I... I fi- I fix watches; it's a clock!
- Derek Reese: With no hands.
- [looks at Fisher inquiringly]
- Derek Reese: It means 'Till the end of time' - life sentence.
- Charles Fischer: If I hadn't been in prison, I never would have made it through judgment day. Once they got their hands on me, it was either I teach them everything I learned inside, or say good-bye.
- Derek Reese: And what'd you learn?
- Charles Fischer: I learned what makes people tick.
- [last lines]
- James Ellison: [revealing Cromartie's endo to Weaver] We need to learn how they work. How to fight them. We can't allow history to repeat itself, not when we have the power to stop it. It's up to us now - the two of us.
- Catherine Weaver: Yes - it is.
