The film was intended as an experiment in individual styles. Jamie Rae and Daniel Anscombe writing and directing one half of the movie each, sharing themes, characters and locations. The two halves were then edited together in post-production to create the final film, with one flowing, cohesive story.
The day before principal photography began, actor Robert H. Wainwright who played the 'Twin Torturer', slipped on some car oil whilst on a photo shoot and suffered from a concussion, leading to the shooting of some of his scenes being delayed by a day.
In the first week of shooting, temperatures dropped to -4 degrees Celsius.
During the second week of shooting, an earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale occurred. The epicenter was about 5 miles away from the filming location, and the earthquake was the largest to affect the UK in 24 years.
Filmed entirely on location at an abandoned mental asylum in Caistor, Lincolnshire in England. The hospital has now been demolished and all that remains is a muddy field.
