Holy Mother of Fudge

The Walking Dead actually feels like a horror move now. Not kidding folks, this episode is insanely good. The acting, writing, cinematography, action, music are spot-on.

Not gonna spoil anything but the final season of Walking Dead looks fantastic and I hope the rest of the episodes do so. If you're a Negan fan, this episode is for you!!

I don't like how unreasonable Maggie has become.
dannylee-780829 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Though I totally understand her desperation, literally almost every one on the party has been killed for bad decision making. Just for a single supply run.

It's also interesting to see Maggie and Negan left alone. Hopefully there are more developments in their relationship.

The sound effects that come out ever time the reapers are here are absolutely terrifying. Really scary stuff.

Good episode. Season 11 has been solid so far. I am just anticipating the whole community to merge into the Commonwealth and have a decent ending and not GOT themselves.

Mostly very solid, with some issues.

Warning: Spoilers
I absolutely enjoy the current plot line, everyones starving, people are desperate, people are losing their lives, ideologies clash. It does feel like old Walking Dead in some ways. The episodes are well shot and the soundtrack is as good as always.

I do have some issues with some of the directional choices though.

Example: The episode starts off with the ambush of the villains, we get some intense action, it almost feels like absolute annihilation. People get injured and die left and right.

Now.. they kill off some one episode characters who nobody really cares about but at least we have some stakes at our hands. It's not like season 8 where people are at actual warfare with fully automated guns but nobody ever really hits a shot.

The issues I'm having is in some of these more abrupt cuts. Before the opening starts playing we see Maggie face to face with one of the bad guys, she throws this weapon thingy at him and disappears like a ghost, the intro starts playing and a couple of minutes later its daytime and Maggie escaped.

It's thing like that, that just scream improper story telling. I feel like they ran out of ideas how to effectively execute the end of the battle and the start of the escape. They just skip the entire part. The same applies to the horse chasing scene with carol and the others. They chase the horses, the camera cuts and all of the horses are in the paddock. It might be minor things to others but these kinds of things seem and feel lazy to me.

Other minors things like characters winning unrealistic fights. Maggie lying on the ground while a 6ft+ chad is pressing his sword against her, she just takes off one of her hands from the sword to reach a glass bottle and the guy still couldn't overpower her.

The Walking Dead also kind of forgot how to build up new characters and actually make them likeable characters that you care about in some way or the other. Which is a shame since that was one of the strengths in earlier seasons. Constantly having new valuable characters flood in to add to the group or even to the antagonist groups.

But with all the negatives out of the way. The first 3 episodes of the final season seem to be promising, I enjoy the atmosphere and I like where it potentially could go. This has major potential and with good writers on board in some episodes, we could see some incredible stuff.

REAPERS ARE HERE TO STAY!!!

Warning: Spoilers
Opening Scene was just absolutely jaw dropping. This felt like PRIME Walking Dead if not even better than some episodes like Evolution, The calm before, The day will come when you won't be. Yeah this EPISODE IS EPIC!!! Final season is shaping to be the best season of the walking dead in the series and that's saying something cause season 1-6 are We're the Peak and somehow we found another peak and I truly can't wait to see how the rest of the season plays out.

OH AND THE DEATH SCENES IN THE BEGINNING WERE INTENSE!!!

Really Good Pacing
revieweranarchy7529 August 2021
I didn't expect to see action from start to finish, because I can tell they're going to have the reapers stay for at least a 1/3 of this season so I'm happy to see that there were other characters in the mix and; overall every character did something interesting rather than just filler talk.

Deja vu

Warning: Spoilers
The Saviors? The Whisperers? And now the Reapers? The Walking Dead is going circles with their antagonists and while the quality of the show has improved considerably, the writing still is as lame as the last 4 seasons. Where is Rick Grimes? Where is Michoone? I'm afraid that, when they DO actually return, most fans will be at a point of not caring at all. Bringing Maggie back has done little to improve the series. The only character worth keeping an eye on is Negan. Darryl has become a charicature of himself, just mumbling his lines. Carol is elsewhere doing stuff that's not interesting at all and the REAL plot (the Commonwealth) was nowhere to be seen in episode 3. I ask the show runners a couple of things: 1. Why NONE of the survivors is a scientist or a high class government official?

2. Why no one talks about finding a cure for this zombie disease?

3. Where did all this come from? From a lab? From outer space? Was it released on purpose?

4. Are the kids born after the apocalypse immune? That would be a really nice plot twist.

5. Rick grimes. The show went downhill once he was out. If he ever returns, I doubt the ratings will.

There are SO many twists and turns the writers can do to make The Walking Dead the awesome show it once was, but they keep on repeating the same thing, over and over and over ad nauseam. I watch it for nostalgic reasons and because all my other favorite shows won't come out until 2022.

The Walking Dead, seasons 1-5 were truly a spectacle to behold. Now it suffers from writers fatigue.

Wow what a season!

Warning: Spoilers
This is turning out to be the best season since Season 4! This episode was painful to watch but so good. That pre credit ambush was like nothing we'd ever seen! I thought Cole was going to be around a lot longer. The horse scene was so sad but understandable. I think Alden is going to be captured and killed. Curious to see what happens with Maggie and Negan.

Suffering without a real leader
hariharan-830451 September 2021
In this episode the plot movement is slow while comparing the previous episodes and it shows how Alexandria is suffering without a real leader and powerful leader like Rick.

The best shot episode so far
jt-nutt30 August 2021
The cinematography on this one is gorgeous. The wide shot of the empty building with the elevator was amazing. All of the solar flares and low angle shots to establish scenes was really well done. The episode itself was great and you really feel the panic and fear as the team tries to survive the attack. Then back at home the simple nature of trying to get horses was a nice contrast and a chance for the audience to breathe. I can't say enough how beautifully shot this episode was.

A good action-focused episode
Leofwine_draca23 September 2022
This episode isn't too bad and it is action-focused which makes it an easier watch. It starts off with a decent set-piece in the woods which displays some graphic and shocking moments before moving into survival/flight mode for the rest of the episode. Good locations are utilised here displaying the decay of the world and the camerawork seems better than that seen in many previous seasons. Some of the dialogue falters at times but elsewhere it's great to see characters like Maggie and Negan shining and doing their thing. The zombie threat seems a lot weaker these days - it's clear they've lost interest in the undead - but the new villains make their mark.

Zzzzzz Someone is paying people for good reviews . This episode is dull
tony-607806 September 2021
Problem is nothing really happens . If this was like the 10th episode of walking dead season 1 it would be good .

However we have seen this story line a million times . Getting really tiresome now . 24 episodes season 11 is going to be a long long slog .

Wow! That's all I have to say!

Warning: Spoilers
This is technically one of the best episodes of The Walking Dead. The cinematography is top tier, the soundtrack is in another level of quality. This episode creates a level of tension, sadness and relief at the same time. It has a lot of climaxes and is extremely well written.

I only have one issue with this episode, the initial fight, it was too short! But it waswas very interesting and cool.

I'm proud to say that The Walking Dead is back to the quality he reached in season 4 and 5. Congratulations, The Walking Dead. This episode was a pleasure to watch.

Beautifully shot and overall breathtaking looking episode, with some great performances mixed into it
Holt3445 September 2021
Acheron: Part 2 ended brilliantly, Eugene meeting Stephanie and the group are finally on their way to the Commonwealth. Meanwhile Maggie, Daryl and their group who're in search for supplies. They finally got out of the Metro and the tension between Maggie and Negan is still there but they connected in a way and found some respect for each other. But Maggie's mission team gets separated and hunted by the Reapers who made an appearance at the end of the episode. Episode 11.03 continues were the previous episode left off but the other storyline rests to make sure other cast members get some much needed screen time and it's of course the main character Carol whom along with Rosita, Magna and Kelly attempt to catch horses for Alexandria. The Safe-Zone which is slowly but surely getting rebuilt.

Frederick E. O. Toye is a new director for the show and he have done lots of incredible shows in the past and he did an amazing job at directing this episode which is titled "Hunted", great direction but I have to say that he knows how to make some truly visually stunning scenes, there are so many shots that are just breathtaking. The cinematography is perfect, the production design is brilliant. I think the writing was great, but you can't compare this episode to Acheron: Part 2 as they're so different. Whilst the tension, suspension and overall pacing was perfect in every way. This episode has one suspenseful arc that are engaging from start to finish, but Carol's arc is far from bad but the pacing hurts a bit. You can also say it was needed, because of how light hearted and hopeful it was instead of Maggie and company getting hunted by The Reapers whom I'm really liking and finding interesting.

Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan continue to amaze me with their performances, clearly showing that they are some of the best actors the show has to offer, the reason is of course that the episode revolves mostly around them in this episode. I love the road Gabriel is heading down and Seth Gilliam is portraying him perfectly as this darker and more ruthless priest who have lost his faith, it's something the show have building towards for many seasons now and Seth is killing it. After thinking on Melissa McBride's performance, it was actually great, her facial expressions said more than words ever could. Her character, Carol, had a really good scene that I don't want to spoil. I also want to praise Callan McAuliffe, not for doing the best performance, but for doing the character of Alden justice. He have been with the show since 2017 and the character haven't really changed that much but thanks to his acting you are able to see the mental health of him and you see how much he's hurting. Underrated performance and an underrated actor.

Hunted is a great episode but should have been solely focused on Maggie and Daryl, instead Daryl is only in the opening sequence. It was nice to see other characters get screen time and character development but in terms of episode and storytelling, it was a step backwards from the previous two superb episodes. It was unpredictable and suspenseful from start to finish, Maggie and Negan's storyline. Their dynamic and the tension between them are exactly how I wanted it to be and the quality drama it gives us is seriously incredible and entertaining. It's also very nice to see some call backs and Easter eggs in the dialogue from past events. The locations and how the characters are on the road gave me some S4 and 5 vibes.

Brilliant

Warning: Spoilers
The opening minutes of this episode are already legendary. I would have liked another scene or two with the Reapers, but I guess that's just the producers pacing the story out. The deaths were handled well. The horses scenes were just okay to me, but I like seeing the progression of Magna. Rosita and Coco, and the kids dealing with stress at Alexandria were interesting to see, and provided an heartwarming touch to the episode. The director is a genius, like duh... Maggie, Negan and Alden were all great. Loved it !

Enough with Maggie's leadership.
emt-5861629 August 2021
I'm already fed up with the avenger Maggie. She's playing this role for almost forever. Apart from her awful stupid plan that got so many people DEAD even though she knew that there are wicked people outside.

Plus we all know that Negan's real story has ended with the end of Season 10. So bringing Negan to season 11 means the show has a lack of great characters.

Alexandria
songod-950032 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I am still not on board with the disaster Alexandria became at the hands of the Whisperers. I have not watched the final ep with them since it aired but do not recall them getting anywhere near the inside of the place; let alone doing such damage.

Also Hilltop was not set ablaze by the "fire balloons". All we saw were the outside walls being hit. No walkers or Whispys got inside. Thus it being destroyed is... nonsense. Made up retcon drama to give this season more of an edge.

And what happened to the Kingdom?? I also do not recall it being destroyed. Should still be there and habitable.

I will grant I am older now and maybe just maybe I am not recalling stuff like I used to but over all I have a very good memory.

Classic TWD writers once again
codytran-5535831 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So nope, this season isn't going to be one for the ages I guess. This episode was so boring. This would've been a 6 if it was not for the first half of the maggie plotline this episode, which was pretty thrilling. Everything in this episode screamed low budget. The alexandria plotline was a total filler, and all it did was ONCE AGAIN was show a depressed Carol for the 4th time this entire series. Spent 1/3 of the episode just finding horses. There is no way on earth this episode is above an 8.

The last two episodes were great, but this one not so much. Carol cried, Maggie was mad, Rosita looked confused, Magna has no expression....was the same old stuff, just a different title.

SEASON 11 BRINGS WALKING DEAD TO THE BEST SHOW ON TELEVISION AGAIN
adsab-2031331 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, i cant express in words how beautifull this episode was , they way it was shot , the colors , cinematography is so dammm beautifull.

Writing is dope , its straightup amazing , not expected 3rd episode to be this good . Acting is always perfect on the walking dead , Action though it was a bit less but man it was good. Reapers are scary and dangerous as hell and man the opening made me shout holy shit loudly. Music on this show keeps getting better every season and was yet anther highight this episode. The budget on these episodes makes it feel so cinematic that i feel like watching it in theater ( i watch it on my big 4k tv). The final season is so much better than we expected, cant wait till next week.

It was entertaining. Lots of people died, and some were bitten.
ohmap-977-6648106 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I was hoping to see more about Eugene finally losing his virginity, but evidently Angela Kang will hold that until another date. I would give that bowl of jelly (Eugene) two solid weeks of nothing but hot sex to bring him down to normal again. The way he was yakking on about being a virgin was almost too much to bear. I would put him in a cell with Princess for a few nights (that should take care of the problem).

Yep...there were some deaths (Duncan bit the dust...looked like Shaq's twin brother.) Agatha died by the zombie of Greg Nicotero (even the big guys are getting involved - maybe Angela Kang will be a zombie too) saving the group. Maggie tried to save her after she was already halfway eaten up by Greg Nicotero (remember folks...one bite and you are dead), but Negan saved Maggie for some reason (maybe to get the food...or maybe because he changed his mind about being a bad guy...or maybe he finds Maggie nice to look at....who knows.)

I liked Gabriel's scene of killing the reaper although it was only for show. He got no information from the dude. Daryl would have (at least) asked him questions, and then killed him.

Next Weeks episode seems good...I read ahead and many liked it. I don't have the APP or whatever they are talking about; nor am I going to spend any money to view things a week ahead of time.

This was a decent episode for fans, but nothing more.

Another great entry to a rejuvenated series
ha77y73ad9728 September 2021
After the 2 part opener this was great! The opening moments were intense and violent where the reapers are here to stay and could match any of the major threats that the group has faced. The Whisperer had the numbers of the hoards and could hide through out the group but these have a level of ninja stealth to be able to scare even the hardest of horror watchers! One chase in particular was terrifying and back to the true threat and no plot armor for major characters.

Theres certainly a correspondence of how many minutes Negan is no screen to how good the episode is but this breaks that rule with most of this following Maggie after the group is broken up. Then reuniting with other members being hunted this was a rollercoaster of emotions for all of the characters and viewing audience.

I dont know who they've hired or fired for the writing of this series and for this to be the final series is a disappointment. There have been moments of promise in the last few series but in the end they always fall flat. If this keeps on going this could be one of the best series of the tv show.
