Ten years of 'survival'.
avnrulz13 September 2021
There's no more grocery stores, dairies, farms, etc. You would think people would be more interested in agriculture and staying alive than forming cults and making masks.

The leader of this episode's band has perfect glasses after all this time; I can't keep mine clean for two weeks now.

Maggie's group is down to two, three, folks; how are they supposed to bring back sufficient supplies to feed Alexandria and fight their way through this group? I will finish the series but it isn't what it was.

Same old same old

I love the walking dead and its still a good show, hate people who give episodes 1 or 2 stars or 9 or 10,this was a solid 7 but the problem the walking dead has is it just re does the same story line over and over just with a different bady, the governor, negan, alpha now pope. Think the problem is weak writers with no ideas.

Well produced, well acted, but now almost completely out of ideas...

So, here we go again. A lunatic, misguided big bad with crazy followers. They'll be mean, probably kill off a character we like and then our friends will kill most of them. How many times have we seen this now? A fallen world surely presents more fertile story-telling ground than this?

Secondly, once again we have split up the cast into two or more plot lines. Why? Cost maybe? Production issues? All this does is frustrate the narrative. By now, we all know that mid-season finales and season finales are usually the best episodes and the whole cast is brought to the fore. I see next week, we switch to the other plot line.

Like everyone else, I suspect I'll plod along to the last episode. Maybe 7 seasons would have been enough.

Okay Episode

Warning: Spoilers
This season is DARK & I love it. Leah's return is interesting & I am happy they didn't make her this blood thirsty killer, with zero humanity.

I do wish this episode was mixed with other stuff though. I have never been a fan of character centric episodes, so it would've been nice to see some other things in this - Maggie & Negan. Elijah's whereabouts. Just something to split up all the reaper dialogue.

this is the walking dead.

Warning: Spoilers
The cinematography is brilliant, they've really out done themselves with this season.

What did we learn?

Leah is alive and is with the reapers.

Daryl continues to lie about what he knows about maggie and the others, and has no choice but to join the reapers.

This is gonna turn into something even bigger.

Cant wait for the rest of 11A.

boring mess. and that already at least since Rick's departure.
MNR87BPF11 September 2021
I can just repeat the review from "Daniel-ericeira".. It is boring and they do the same rubbish over and over again. I as complaining about it for a long time. Why always in the forest. No task at all. I started watching the episode on double speed while doing other stuff. I had hope for the last season, but Kang and crew are ruining it. It is so sad. This series could still be great.

The story focuses solely on Daryl, if not for the brilliant character and world building, it wouldn't be as great - beautifully shot and brilliantly acted
Holt34413 September 2021
Episode 11.04 titled Rendition isn't directly a follow-up to the previous episode, but we get to see Daryl's perspective after running away with Dog, the group are scattered and on the run from The Reapers which are the new antagonist group. Daryl and Dog get captured by the Reapers; they are taken to the Meridian and reconnect with a familiar figure from their past. There's also a couple of new characters, the notable is of course the leader, Pope whom are played fantastically by Ritchie Coster. As we get to see more of the Reapers and get to know who they are, it's nice to see who they are behind their masks. Thus making them more human. Plus what they believe in, nice to get answers other than the subtle details we got in the previous episode.

Frederick E. O. Toye returns to the show with the follow-up to "Hunted" which he did an amazing job with. Direction, camera work and well he succeeded again with making a visually appealing episode. Many shots like there were in "Hunted" are breathtaking. The cinematography is perfect, the production design is brilliant. The dialogue and overall writing was pretty great and I found the writing for The Reapers to be quite brilliant. This is a group original to the show and Angela Kang did a terrific job with them, making them interesting and unique, a nice addition to TWD Universe. There's also tension and suspension throughout the episode. The overall pacing was perfect.

Ritchie Coster's performance as Pope was incredible and so far one of the best this season, I can't wait to see more of him and the character he's playing. He's a nice addition to the show. Coster delivers a monologue so perfect, so wonderfully acted and leaves a mark as a character worth watching. Though Ritchie Coster clearly steals the show, Norman Reedus' performance is something to talk about. There isn't anything mind blowing about his performance, but the subtle things might go past someone else as Norman Reedus acts so well and says more in silence, Daryl is one of those quiet people and Norman Reedus captures the emotions perfectly. Lynn Collins' performance was also pretty good, nailing the dramatic and emotional part of the performance.

Rendition is not a filler episode as it drives the story forward immensely but only for Daryl as he's the only actor from the main cast that's in this episode, non the less a great episode. There's plenty of character development for Daryl, but the major thing is of course the world building in this episode, with The Reapers and who they are. We get to see a new location, the Meridian, which now serves as the base of The Reapers. The storytelling was on point and nicely executed.

Warning: Spoilers
Never gonna moan about an episode devoted to Daryl. Really interested to see what will happen with him and the reapers.

Great introduction to Pope, having not read the comics I am excited to see the direction they will take with him and what his true motives are.

Stunning writing once again, looking forward to the remainder of 11A!

Decent Episode
traffordbage5 September 2021
I liked this episode, great cinematography and acting. No walkers though, seems odd. I liked seeing the reapers but can't help but feel that the storyline is similar to negan crossing into the whisperers guess we will find out.

Very good world and character building.
shayedbruva5 September 2021
Oh boy the soundtrack of the Pope is incredible. Bear McCreary is a legend.

Really enjoyed the introduction of the reapers and their leader. The Pope seems like a competent actor. Really liked this.

This season has been very very solid so far. Can't believe I'm actually looking forward to walking dead episodes again. Feels so good. Lets keep this up!

Certainly some people vote without logic and reason
gramylyrda5 September 2021
Why?. Does this part really deserve to get a score of one? Without any logic. It's really stupid this episode was great. We became more acquainted with the new group and the more we reached the end, the more beautiful and more beautiful it became.

Just my humble opinion. Warning: Spoilers
When I was watching this episode, I couldn't help but think, "how do you establish a great villain?"

Is it, Scary like the whisperers?

Evil like the Governor?

Or maybe just horrendous ideology?

The walking dead on the 11th season run had always enticed me. I enjoyed episodes as boring as season 7 and 8, i enjoyed even the episode "Diverged". But this, I really don't know why I lost that spark.

Maybe because its always following the same format:

Introduce villain, Make them kill your people, Introduce dear leader, Give them some ideology thats totally seem out of touch with Humanity.

Make the villains kill their own people.

Defeat them And repeat

Stupid, unmature 12 year old me would slap and slit my throat if I say anything bad to his comfort show.

I'm still having problems with the timeline of each episodes. They introduced the reapers way too quickly and established their bizarre Ideology. If Gandhi lived in America and didn't get his Nukes, that would be Pope. What amazed me is that I prefer FearTwd Teddy more than him. I guess it would have been better if I binged them in one go. See ya in 2022.

Tiresome
Leofwine_draca23 September 2022
The first poor quality episode of the new series. Once again we split off with an individual character for a side story and unfortunately I don't find Darryl interesting enough to carry a whole episode on his own. The problem with this one is that the new situation in which he finds himself is inherently dull. I couldn't even remember the female character from her previous appearance in the series and she's totally uninteresting to me at this point. Once again there's another new group but the leader seems kind of dull and lacking in presence and the long winded monologues and paired-off conversations are really tiresome at this point.

The pope is joke
nicofreezer17 September 2022
I mean have you look at this guy ? An old , bald with big ears man, i was laughing every time he was talking, this guy is supposed to be a bad guy ?

We have had the Governor ( a legendary badass vilain) then Negan !! And Alpha ( not as good as the first two but still a lot of charisma) And now we have an old George Costanza, this new group is so boring. Again a new group of bad guys ?

The same plot all over again, season 3-4 the Governor group of bad guys , Season 5 the terminus group, Season 6 7 8 a group of bad guys ( the saviors) season 9-10 alpha beta another group of bad "human" And now season 11 you cannot change your plot at least for the last season ?

I mean Walking dead was great for 9 seasons ! But when you decide to have the same plot again and you give us the worst possible ans most uncharismatic villains group ever, its just not good enough.

Thanks good their is the Eugene plotline and the Commonwealth.

Season 11 have been a disapointment except the first episode. And i was expecting a great season !

A Solid but Slow Episode
declanoneil5 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Excellent cinematography and soundtrack. I wouldn't call it a filler episode and the episode helped us get to know the new group of antagonists and the group dynamic. The episode however was very slow paced in contrast to the first three episodes. The final scene was very shocking and disturbing - reinforces the much darker theme that has been running through the season so far. I'm really enjoying where the story is going and I'm looking forward to each episode every week. This episode was nothing amazing but it served a necessary purpose in fleshing out the story and providing us with context for the new group of antagonists. The acting was great, especially from Pope. I'm keen to see how Daryl's role in the group will develop and whether Leah will change sides.

Such a Dark and Interesting Episode
revieweranarchy755 September 2021
This episode which revolves around Daryl-Reapers is something that I am all for. We got a brutally honest introduction into the Reapers and the ending of that episode was one of the most brutal sequences of this series to date.

A Weaker, Yet Still Compelling Instalment
FL25724 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
"Rendition" I found weaker than the three previous episodes, however, there was a lot to like. Both Daryl and Leah had some solid scenes throughout, and their reunion was engaging. Pope's backstory was intriguing, though I'm still relatively mixed on him as a villain and the Reapers as a whole. The events that played out were predictable: such as the return of Leah, the test Daryl was put through in the burning building, and Pope murdering one of his own. Despite a slow pace, "Rendition" was still an effective installment.

OVERALL - [7.5/10]

Not another bunch of nutters led by an arch-nutter
britik22 January 2022
Yey, yey, yey.

TWD has done this very same thing multiple times already. This episode and The Reapers are just rinse & repeat if people that we've already seen in previous series.

This series started off well but this episode is awful and the writing just a lazy bunch of clichés.

Poor. I hope it picks up and the actual overall story of TWD actually moves on to...somewhere... anywhere really.
