What was the point of Part 1?
gerardchalaux13 July 2022
What was the point of Part 1 with the Reapers? What a pointless waste of time, they could've scrapped all that nonsense and focus on the Commonwealth plot so they don't feel the need to rush it now.

It makes no sense whatsoever they all got to such high places in the Commonwealth in just 30 days. Somehow Connie is now a renown reporter and thinks she has a well founded opinion on how the place works? Daryl and Rosita are top-tier bodyguards for the elite? They just trust them like that after we saw how demanding the selection process to enter the colony is? It makes no sense, it's rushed.

Also, the whole antifa subplot feels like it's gonna be a massive deal of cringe. I'm afraid to keep watching and get disappointed about the end of this show.

Rosita's hair
astridhaeder-7328722 March 2022
No one would go into a zombie fight with their very, very long hair hanging loose like Rosita. It annoys me that it's all about looking good. They lived in a zombie infestet World for many years now, and should now, that things like that could cost you your life. But it's obviously more important that the women look perfect.

Where is it going?
hariharan-8304522 February 2022
I'm a die hard fan of TWD and last episode was a "bang". But this one mainly focuses on Commonwealth what they're trying to convey? This episode is full of character development? I don't agree. "Pamela Milton and her son" are greatest antagonist like governor and negan? No. I think the story is completely out of track and makes no sense. Missing old "TWD".

I'm a fan of TWD too but I'll say this episode is bit overrated.

The Commonwealth story arc continues and ended up being intriguing with its brilliant drama and storytelling, it lays a foundation for what to come
Holt34421 February 2022
Episode 11.10 titled "New Haunts" is entirely focused on the Commonwealth storyline. The premise for episode 10: The heroes experience Halloween in the Commonwealth; Daryl and Rosita undergo military training led by Mercer; Carol investigates Ezekiel's medical condition. I think the editing and pacing was perfect in this episode, probably among the best of the season as both perspective kept things tense and there were also some nice transitions. So was the writing, Magali Lozano penned the script for 11.10 and the overall writing is brilliant, the dialogue and the characters, everything feels natural and just perfect. Overseen by Angela Kang, the writing for this episode is consistent of the previous episode. The episode uses the big budget wisely, making it brilliant both technically and visually with an impressive production, with new sets and new actors bringing brought in. Laila Robins makes her long awaited and anticipated introduction as Pamela Milton, the governor of the Commonwealth.

Jon Amiel directed 11.10 "New Haunts" and though he is new to the show, Amiel is extremely talented and it shows in the episode he got to direct, his work is excellent and made a great episode with lots of mesmerizing scenes. The cinematography is truly breathtaking and incredible, the way it was shot and so on, just brilliant. The sets were detailed and perfect, it's nice to see more of Commonwealth and I think they did a fantastic job with recreating it from graphic novel form to TV. Art and production design is brilliant. Superb sound design and a musical score both gripping and dramatic. It's one of many things on the technical side of things that the show is doing a phenomenal job at.

As this was a direct follow-up to the previous episode which ended with a time jump. Commonwealth is the focus and with it comes some great drama, zombie action and set pieces you'll find incredible. It's also nice how the episode feel like an ensemble drama again, there are lots of characters that we follow, old and new, everyone has something to do. I think my favorite characters this episode were Norman Reedus as Daryl, Michael James Shaw as Mercer and Teo Rapp-Olsson as Sebastian Milton. But the best performances goes to Melissa McBride, Khary Payton and Norman Reedus. I really like the casting for Sebastian Milton and Pamela Milton, they are truly accurate and so are Mercer to their comic book version.

"New Haunts" has lots of things that fans of The Walking Dead will like. But it isn't something mind-blowing and the reason for that is how much build up and world building there are in this episode, I liked how the show and writers are taking a more slower pace with this story arc which was the final arc in the graphic novel, there it ended up feeling rushed but the tv show is taking it's sweet time and it have ended up being a more well thought out arc, with the Commonwealth being something you can truly see happening in a Zombie Apocalypse. I didn't really see any flaws with this episode, it had plenty of action and never felt forced, an episode like this is needed with drama shows. I can't wait for the next episode, this was brilliant.

It is obvious...
songod-9500321 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As we used to say "There is something rotten in Denmark". The Commonwealth has a dark underside. Maybe not quite on the level of the Governors community\town (I imagine this is what he was going for), but all is not what it seems.

Which is too bad that even in times of crisis people will be people.; Greedy, selfish, lustful, sociopathic... There are those who take and those who are taken. And those who blindly ignore what is going on in front of them, like this mayor here seems to.

Daryl's assessment in the scene with Carol is accurate; there always has to be things done to make it work. Just what mechanization's make the wheels turn here I imagine won't take long to reveal. (Too bad Negan is on a walkabout. I'd love to get his take on this place).

As gnarly as things may become, from what I read the Commonwealth is not the Big Evil or foe in this extended final season. No, the helicopter people (aka The Civic Republic) have been bandied about on forums as being the real problem. They will appear and probably (this info is recent) bring Rick back to the show for the final handful of eps. That would only be right to give the fans a Rick, Carol, and Daryl reunion as the prospects of stand alone Rick Grimes movies have all but evaporated.

We shall see! Lets just hope the production team has locked Scott Gimple in a closet and are making sure he does not get loose to screw up the final result as he nearly ruined the show with season 6 and is now happily pooping all over FTWD (the show has devolved into complete nonsense - I gave up).

The Walking Politics
devitovinny20 February 2022
I just want to start by saying I'm not someone who has grown tired of this show. I've been a big fan from the beginning. I gave last episode a 10/10 rating and it deserved it. I also saw someone say last week that they weren't excited about the commonwealth storyline. I didn't really agree or disagree with it at the time but they were right. The direction of the story is not what I want/expect from this show going forward. I know they are trying to wrap things up and some sort of community like this would probably exist but I am not a fan. I hope this was a one off and not the direction they're going in. After seeing the previews for the upcoming episodes it looks like this will unfortunately continue.

Decent but Now i Have So Many Questions...
panagiotis199320 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Why do such a huge time jump? It feels like the previous episodes of this season are part of another show, it feels weird. Not too excited to see the characters starting a new life at the Commonwealth. The Commonwealth is so unrealistic like I mentioned before. For them is like the apocalypse never happened. Im sad about Ezekiel's whole tumor situation, I really don't want him to die. Why our characters don't get special suits like the one Mercer has when they kill walkers? Makes no sense.

Lance seems to be an interesting character, he looks all nice and stuff but I think that there is something weird about him, like he is hiding something. I think there is something weird going on about Ms Milton too or maybe im just being paranoid. Ms Milton's son is so annoying, I hope that walkers will eat him soon. I like that the Commonwealth is not just an imaginary utopia but there are different classes just like the real world. What's up with the characters that didn't wanna leave Alexandria though? I love that Daryl is a father figure to Judith. Decent episode overall but nothing great. I have so many questions after watching it though! My rating is 7/10.

11B is 2 for 2!
Splarke2220 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Following one of the best episodes in recent seasons, 11x10 is another amazing episode. Everything happening at the Commonwealth is just so good! I love what they're doing with all of the characters adapting to their new lives so far, especially the scenes with Daryl and Judith/RJ! We also got to see a glimpse into a major upcoming conflict with the "Resist the Commonwealth" movement. So excited to see where 11B goes from here.

Lemmy would turn in his grave
hendersonandrew-6145121 February 2022
This isn't the worst episode, some insight to what's really going on at the Commonwealth is explored. Definitely doesn't deserve the endless 10/10 scores the new episodes have been getting, but it's got some decent scenes. But the little kids recommending Motörhead records to one another is just weird and if Lemmy saw this he would be pissed. 6/10.

Daryl
zilicivan-7341321 February 2022
Not a great episode but not a bad one either, I just hope to god that Daryl doesn't become some kind of spy inside the Commonwealth like he did with the Reapers and Negan just to betray them and then help his friends. And honestly i'm just hoping for the return of Rick Grimes and if he doesn't return I will be very very disappointed.

Start of a fresh new arc
sjbushby-6068021 February 2022
Don't know why these episodes don't get higher ratings because in my opinion they are just as good as the episodes which are more action-packed. It's clear now that the reaper arc was just a plot device to build up to this arc and what's great is that because this season is longer they had the space to do that without rushing it. Loving where this season is going.

Finally after 8 episodes of suffering
christopherhq22 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Reapers arc was horrible in everything. But now that we are in the commowealth (that I don't know at all), everything went up.

Characters are finally getting interesting ; Daryl does not have to bear Leah and have a good duo with Connie, Carol and Lance duo works very well, Mercer is charismatic, Judith has to get adaptable with this new world... Sebastian is hatable but the actor is really well.

There is a tension that is hidden in the commonwealth which works pretty well for a start.

We finally have more than 5 people per scene, it's not 50 000 persons, but it's like 200 which is pretty good since the last 2 seasons.

But the timelapses make it too fast, things are starting slowly but will rise in the next episodes. It would be good to know where are the others and what happened in the first 30 days.

As a conclusion : It's a slow start, but it's good, and it's x50000000 better than 11A (which was really bad).

What the Heck?
silverpinkcity28 February 2022
You turn on this episode and feel like you've MISSED an episode (or maybe you turned on a whole other show by mistake)!

How is all this happening without any build-up? There's no continuity. Suddenly, all these characters are just shoved into this brand-new life in this brand-new community, and you get the feeling everything is being RUSHED big time, because it's the last season.

For instance (in season 5) they didn't just show our intrepid group walking through the woods battling walkers and eating worms, then suddenly, (right the very next show) being thrust into Deanna's world in Alexandria! No...there was a build-up to that happening. There was doubt in the minds of Rick and a lot of the others, as to whether the people in Alexandria would be "safe" and "worth the risk." After all, didn't they learn that lesson in Terminus...not just to rush into things and automatically trust people? I guess not.

Don't get me wrong. I was excited about the whole "idea" of the commonwealth. I thought it could all be very interesting. I just wonder what the rush is? It's leaving me feeling irritated and confused.

Oh well. I guess I'll just have to accept that this is what's going on and watch the show for what it is. After all, I've watched it this far. And where's Aaron and Maggie? I don't know. It all feels like sort of a mess.

By the way, I really like Princess, and was disappointed there wasn't more Princess in this episode.

As a Twd Comic Book reader i love this episod!
ebbewahlstrom21 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The group from Alexandria finally Reaches the Commonwealth. I know that Eugine's group got their first but still to see Daryl and mostly the rest of the group there is amazing. As a Fan of the Twd Comic a have been waiting a long time to see the Commonwealth on the Tv. So i jus love that. Also i like how Daryl and most of the group are not use to this Civilisation and is on guard for this new group.

I also already as in the comic hate Pamelas son as in the comic "spoilers" he kills Rick Grimes.

Now Im afraid he will Kill Daryl or someone important maybe Aaron.

However I really like this episod and it's probably my favourite from s11 so far.

Not Bad
MamadNobari971 March 2022
I quite enjoyed this episode and it's interesting that the show has become unpredictable and we don't know what's gonna happen or how it's going to end.

I read another review that said this one was disappointing because of the 30-day jump and that there is no build-up, which I completely agree but not in this case. It didn't bother me that much for this episode. The sometimes-no-build-up thing they got in this show is a problem that I've had for a long and I think it hurts the show.

But why didn't it bother me that they did a 30-day jump into our characters being citizens of Commonwealth?

Because we already saw that build-up and introduction in the previous part of this season with Ezekiel and Princes. We already know the protocols of getting into the Commonwealth. In fact, it was like 2 or 3 episode of introducing Commonwealth through Princes and Ezekiel. So why would they do that again? Wouldn't that be redundant?

It's not like we have no idea what this place is and who the guy in the suit is and now all of a sudden Daryl and Carol has become a law-abiding citizen of that community, they've already introduced them.

Yes the Alexandria introduction that was in the 5th season I think was really good and it worked really well. But I do think it would've been redundant to show how the gang got into this town and waste like half and episode or more, when they have already dedicated a couple of episode at the beginning of this season.

Other than that, I thought the episode was ok with some interesting plots being developed and it's a change of pace. I don't really an opinion about whether the plots are good or interesting enough as this is kinda the beginning and we have to see more to decide.

It was interesting to see how Judith who has been on the run and fighting zombies from birth is adapting to this "normal" life, and also other characters finding jobs based on their real-world jobs.

So far it's interesting enough and we have to see what they have in store for the rest of the season.

Only thing disappointing with this season was how they butchered the potential of the Reapers being a terrifying and menacing enemy, but I hope we get more interesting plots from now on.

New Haunts
bobcobb30128 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Seeing Daryl and Rosita get humbled in training a little bit was refreshing to see. Daryl is so used to being in power that it has to be a culture shock to see him taking orders and needing to deal with others but that is the case.

The show is definitely improving as Season 11 progresses, but what can you do? It is still not as exciting as it once was but at least week to week we are getting a little bit of excitement.

I just want something shocking to come through in the final episodes of the season that we don't see coming. That could be enough to salvage the season in the mind of this user.

The epic Part II did it again
edgyclemmytime20 February 2022
The Walking Dead 1110 feels very grand. The sets and all the actors are incredible, and this is just the beginning of The Commonwealth story arc

The story is the best of all Episode 10s. Part II did it again and returns with the biggest and best episode 10 ever. This episode is epic.

Mixed bag
ubilstein5 March 2022
This is episode isnt really bad and it serves as a nice introduction to new character conflicts, which I like. But the tonal shift is waaay to abrupt. Last episode and the last arc overall was full of despair and death and now we are thrown into a completely different story and environment immediately with no progression.

Overall I rate this episode with 7 only because I think that this episode is a good introduction to the common wealth despite the abrupt change in setting.

I don't understand why Eugene isn't in this episode, as he is the main character when it comes to the commonwealth arc.

It was a good episode but definitely not a 9 or a 10.

Don't forget this is the final season of TWD.

Expecting BIG episodes. Hopefully more story pushing.

Struggle of Class in Commonwealth
claudio_carvalho20 January 2024
It is Halloween in Commonwealth and Daryl is at the Carnival with Judith and B. J., and the children are having a nice day. Judith befriends the girl Mei that gives a Motorhead's vinyl to her. Kelly and Connie are working at the local newspaper and Princess at a store. Carol is worried about Ezekiel, since his cancer seems to be worsening. She sneaks into the hospital to see Ezekiel's record and stumbles upon Tomi, who tells her that he should be in the top of the surgery list to be saved. Mercer is training several new recruits, including Rosita and Daryl, to be troopers. Pamela will give a masquerade ball to the high society and Max refuses Hornsby's wine. Carol goes to a wine cellar full of expensive wines and walkers and brings several bottles to Hornsby. In return, she asks him to move Ezekiel to the top of the list. During the ball, the former trooper Tyler Davis abducts Max and with a knife on her throat, makes serious accusations to Pamela. Daryl and the troopers chase him, and later they discover a secret room in his house.

After so many great episodes of Yhe Walking Dead", "New Haunts" is only a reasonable one. The main point of this show is the struggle of class in Commonwealth, like it was begore the zombie apocalypse. People is general are used to have freedom, especially the Alexandrians, and it ma be difficult to adapt to the new order. Magna shows this situation visibly. My vote is seven.

Title (Brazil): "Novas Assombrações" ("New Haunts")

Wonderfully Scripted, Wonderfully eerie, Great All Around
cbuttermann21 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The themes articulated in this episode are almost perfectly presented. The performances and writing are almost spot on apart from the slightly under par performance of "Tyler" when he's being escorted out of the Masquerade Ball.

Besides that, I can really not think of any major criticisms that take away from my enjoyment of this episode. Everything involved with Carol and Ezekiel felt real and emotionally charged with purpose and effective articulation. The fatherly role Daryl has taken with Judith and RJ is heart melting, while not being overly cheesy or overdone. Lance Hornsby.... I'm excited for more Lance Hornsby; he is so intriguing and slimy with how the actor tones the characters outward motives down to an eerie mysterious tone and presence.

Pamela Milton saying "make sure" (or something to that effect) in reference to "are there really thousands" gave me goosebumps and made me really excited for the darkness within this community to continually fester and become even more great story telling for this show... as well as great television.

Mercer is spectacular. Mercer's blossoming relationship with Princess made my heart happy.

The actor playing Sebastian is doing a great job, cause god damn I hate that guy.

The closing song of the episode tying into the overall conflict and conversation presented was on the nose, but very much appreciated.

The shot composition and general production was wonderful.

Shiva :( <3

Of course the ninja walkers in the wine cellar were noticeably..well...ninja walkers. I didn't have too much of a problem with it- cause it was filmed and edited well.

Overall this episode is a home-run on all cylinders for me! :)

Even paradise might for some be hell
Shadowboy_25cm25 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The Commonwealth an its social structures is shown in this episode from the point of view of our heroes.

In the beginning it's like a thema park, so unreal, and the Commonwealth is like a step back.

There are the rich and they celebrate their own party.

There are secrets and some ingrigue.

There is a hint of resistance against the leader of the Commonwealth.

The surface might be attractive: living in peace, no real threat by Walkers, enough food, housings, work, but under the surface there is something going on, some unease can be felt.

Good episode with more details about living in the Commonwealth.

what. an. episode. (pt.2)
pmartinsd20 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The Walking Dead is really back at the game.

This episode has everything that you can expect from an introduction episode. We are introduced to the Commonwealth in a very peculiar way, with a time jump of a month (probably).

"New Haunts" focus in a lot of different sights; we don't get it at first, but as the episode runs, we get to know how the most important people of our group feel about this new place, and what is everyone's job on this community.

Additionally, I sincerely think The Walking Dead needs to focus more on Judith. Her sight of things is tremendously interesting, because she doesn't have any idea of what this world is, of what a community like this is. She makes a new friend in this episode, and is really wonderful to watch how she reacts to things and how she communicates with other people.

I need to also talk about Carol's role in this episode... It looks like she's finally getting another interesting arc, as she is progressively discovering the rotten core of this community and their leaders.

Talking about the rotten core, Connie is given the opportunity to be a journalist, and we get to learn that she already knew Pamela Milton and her family, and that she also kicked Pamela's uncle out of the White House.

Oh Pamela... What an incredible performance of her actress... Pamela is definitely an intriguing character, so is her son, Sebastian Milton, the biggest ahole in the world. I'm really looking forward to this family and how they are going to be developed.

Summing up, i think this episode was truly amazing; it was a perfect and different introduction of this perfect (is it?) and different community. Really looking forward to the rest of Part 2. I feel good to admit that (maybe) The Walking Dead can end its journey with one of the best seasons in its franchise.
