La Famiglia Guy
bobcobb3019 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
A ridiculous premise, but I admit that I laughed quite a bit here. The joke about saying Italian names and having it translate to meaningful dialogue wasn't funny, but this wasn't that bad (given how Family Guy is these days).

Was Decent
skaterryan129 November 2020
Reading some reviews and responses from people make me think they've kind of missed the point of this episode. If you don't know The Godfather trilogy then I can see why all of this feels "stale" or unfunny. Truthfully I didn't find this episode to be that funny, but I get the point of the episode and what they were going for. Decent episode, but not one I'd care to watch over and over like others.

This season is really bad, even worse than I've expected. Maybe it's time just to finish TV series such as this and Simpsons.

Another great episode.

I think this season had a weak start, but I think it's picking up smoothly with the past two episodes. This episode was very funny in my opinion. A lot of the jokes were ridiculous in a good way. I say it was 9.6/10 for me.

Idc what anyone says

This is in my opinion the best episode of the season,.. If you want to whine that it doesn't have the same feeling like the first 5 season then go ahead,.. Its not Seth's fault that fox is deciding to milk the series dry

Worn out tropes, 40 year old references and Trump Derangement Syndrome
RogerBorg6 January 2022
Phew, what a packed episode. Everything Eye-talian that you've ever seen done before, anywhere, by anyone; plus Godfather references that most of the audience won't get; plus the inevitable "DIE, DIE ORANGE MAN DIE" murder-frothing from the tolerance, peaceful, loving Left.

I mean, you can sit through it, and animated characters say some things, and you might occasionally think "Oh, that reminds me of something funny that I saw elsewhere", but there's nothing original or clever here, just a big fat sandwich of two slices of stale writing wrapped around some expired hatred-Bologna.

Cringe lazy writing and political bias cramming
g3trans15 November 2020
So much cringe... only jokes made were about Republicans killing themselves, three jokes in the same episode, people killing themselves in prison... Leave your politics out of comedy its not funny. We get it, you want trump melania and pence to be arrested and killed. Rest of episode is the plot of at least 3 simpsons episodes, someone becomes fat tony. It was funny for the simpsons, awful and tiring for family guy 20 years later. Just stop producing if you're not going to risk your pc award by not having any jokes.

Bland and Overdone

They wrote this episode nearly two years before it aired, and it shows. The references are 48 years old, twice or thrice the average of their viewership. Pathetic.

A Mediocre 4
danielarlington12 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
In this episode, they overused two jokes. They may have been funny at first, but it got old. Also, the plot wasn't horrible but it wasn't good either. I thought they kinda got lazy at the end. Unfortunately, I give this episode a 4/10 rating. It's like they aren't trying anymore :(

Stale stereotypes about Italians and the mafia.
herculeanes9 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Don't get me wrong, I'm not against jokes about certain countries, nations, etc. And not against stereotypes. But the theme of Italians in Family Guy appeared too often on the show to evoke any emotion. In this episode, jokes are not bad ... But they are not good either! Old fans of the show won't hear anything new. The new audiences are most likely born after mania for the Mafia and Italo-Americans in media, so they won't appreciate these jokes. The few new viewers who watched The Godfather, The Sopranos, etc. find the scenes and parodies too obvious, flat and predictable. I don't know how to spoil the episode, which is clear from the title. But still marked it as "containing spoilers". Ironically, there is nothing to spoil here. Peter misunderstands a word that has more than one meaning - "ha ha, classic." Then the authors decided that "Stand By Meg", "Boopa-dee Bappa-dee", and the constant references in other episodes were not enough. I'm afraid to imagine what would have happened if Vinnie had stayed on the show. This episode is literally a parade of stereotypes. No attempt to rethink other people's ideas, just ripoff. The authors could ridicule the stereotypes about Italians, Italian-Americans and the mafia, showing their inconsistency, they could say, in reality, everything is not the same as in the films. Or ridicule films from the perspective of real Italians or even real logic. For example, the stereotype that the mafia is always run by old, fat and sickly people. On the contrary, the young and energetic are belittled. But no, the viewer shouldn't even think for a second, because: "This is a humorous show, why are you so serious?"

P.S. The problem is that the Italians were not chosen as the central theme by chance. Under the leadership of Disney, the show is more PC than ever. Italians and Christians are among the few who will not complain about "bad representations" and won't try "cancel the show".
