The kind of film you want all your friends to see...

Warning: Spoilers
I don't normally watch short films, I'm never sure how they can get anything, you know, done, in such a short space of time. And I wasn't overly keen on the title, either. Bad omens you could say, but I couldn't believe it, it was funny, it made me miss my girlfriend so much and most importantly it made me want to show it to all my other friends. As I said, I don't do short films - I'd normally go for something that lasts longer than my popcorn - but if this is what fresh independent film is all about then, you know, I'm certainly going to be tempted again... Innovative and thought provoking shots, well acted and - this is the spoiler bit (I had to tick the box)- a multi-layered ending that will leave you thinking 'please don't ever let me go'... Oh - the song's not bad either, but I hope Mr Strachan works on his titles...

A charming, funny short with great performances from its two leads

Warning: Spoilers
A charming, funny short with great performances from its two leads. A twisty plot sprints along from the get-go and is handled with an understated flair by director Matt Strachan. Made up of a string of fragmented memories and moments, the story draws from the relationship between Calum and Lucy, a 'will-they-won't-they?' couple who never really tackled their feelings for each other until a jarring and traumatic event forces them to confront what could have been. It's an intriguing premise, but steers clear of sentimentality or cliché. The bond between the couple is the heart of the movie and, although sometimes frustrating, is touching, believable and frequently funny and complemented by tight, witty dialogue. Strachan has created a technically impressive world and an undeniably compelling story.

A very dramatic, yet subtle portrayal of friendship/love.

I really enjoyed this short film and thought it very emotive. The storyline had added impact due to the subtlety of the portrayal of the relationship of the couple set against the dramatic event of the car crash. It was also highly reminiscent of the cruelty and/or unfairness of life in that we cannot always have what we want and that we don't always appreciate what we have until it's too late. Similarly, it raised the question about the value of friendship and whether genuine friendships can exist between men and women without one party wishing to take things further. Is that ever a good idea? A lot of messages were packed into this excellent film - I loved it.
