Preacher is coming to AMC. The cable network has given a series order to Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s adaptation of Garth Ennis’ DC/Vertigo comic. Expected to premiere sometime in mid-2016, Preacher‘s first season will consist of 10 episodes. Rogen and Goldberg, who have worked together on numerous projects, including Superbad, This Is the End, and last year’s The Interview, will produce the series, while Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad, Rake) will serve as showrunner. Preacher stars Dominic Cooper (Agent Carter) as Rev. Jesse Custer, Ruth Negga (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as his ex-girlfriend, Tulip, and Joseph Cilgun (Misfits) as the hard-drinking, Irish vampire, Cassidy. In the series, the conflicted Jesse merges with a spiritual force called Genesis, which allows him to become more mighty than the Almighty. “Preacher is, above all, about great characters – something we look for in all of our series,” Joel Stillerman, AMC’s president of original programming and development,...

There’s a bit of a risk, now that the two series that put them on the map, “Breaking Bad” and “Mad Men,” have wrapped up, that AMC will become known as something of a one-trick pony. They still have one giant, enormous hit in “The Walking Dead,” but since then, the only hits they’ve launched have been spin-offs of existing hits, with “Fear The Walking Dead” and “Better Call Saul,” with series like “Turn,” “Low Winter Sun,” “Rubicon” and “Halt & Catch Fire” failing to get much love from critics or viewers (the latter improved enormously in its second season, but ratings are still low enough that it’s far from certain that it gets renewed again). They could use another hit, and there’s potentially one on the way in 2016, as the network have announced that they’ve greenlit a full first season of “Preacher,” an adaptation of...

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's comic book adaptation Preacher has been picked up for a full series at AMC...
For months, we were given sporadic images and updates regarding the shooting of the Preacher pilot. Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Sam Catlin seemed keen to build hype for their potential show by sharing as much as possible via social media.
If this was a tactical ploy to show off the potential popularity of a Preacher series to AMC - it definitely worked. The network has picked up the comic book adaptation for a full series.
Seth Rogen broke the news on Twitter, saying "Preacher is coming to AMC! @evandgoldberg @SamCatlin123! The beginning is nigh!!!"

Seth Rogen has revealed that his take on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s controversial DC Vertigo comic series, Preacher, has been given a series order at AMC, and he’s also posted the key art seen below to his Twitter page. Apparently, it’s a 10-episode order and the show is expected to launch mid-2016.

As This Is England ’90 comes to TV, we look back over the rest of Shane Meadows’ brutal, funny and warmly empathetic series…
Try a bit of mental calculation: how many punches in total would you say you’ve seen thrown on screen? Bloodied faces? Kicks to the head? Unless you’ve kept your TV and film intake to a strict diet of family animation (and even then…), that total is likely to be swirling around the thousands.
Now, think of the number of times an on-screen attack has stopped your breath in your chest. When each kick has landed with nauseating weight and filled you not with ringside exhilaration but with dread. In short, how often have you been made to really care about an act of on-screen violence?
That was Shane Meadows’ aim in This Is England, the 2006 feature film that introduced the world to Shaun, Woody, Lol, Combo,...

We’ve had several behind-the-scenes glimpses into the production of AMC’s small screen take on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s controversial comic series, Preacher, but this is our first proper look at some of the principal cast members, namely Joseph Gilgun and Ian Colleti, in wardrobe as their characters.
Gilgun (This Is England, Misfits, Pride) will play hard drinking Irish Vampire, Cassidy, and he does bear quite a resemblance to his comic book counterpart – minus his trademark sunglasses, that is. Colleti (Baby Mama, Rake), on the other hand, is Arseface: a troubled teen who attempts to commit suicide with a shotgun blast to the face. It’s been a couple of months since we checked in with AMC and their adaptation of Garth Ennis' graphic novel “Preacher.” The comic — and ostensibly the show — follows Jesse Custer as he struggles with his newfound godly power and attempt to give it back. With the lead and supporting cast in place, filming is now underway. And that means set photos! If you know where to look for them. Earlier in August, someone put up a Facebook page for Old Lamy Misson, the movie set being used as Preacher Jesse Custer’s base of operations. It’s been slowly populated with photos, including a recent dump of nearly 30 images. In this hodgepodge — with nary a bit of fanfare — is our first look at Arseface (Ian Colletti) in full make-up. The European action-thriller Stratton has only just commenced shooting, and yet it’s become something of a talking point due to its last-minute casting dilemma. One week prior to the commencement of principal photography, Henry Cavill – aka the Man of Steel – dropped out of the project, leaving Gfm Films up that proverbial creek minus a paddle. Luckily, another superhero stalwart found a space in his schedule to take over the rugged leading man duties: Dominic Cooper.
Cooper seems an unlikely candidate for the role of action hero. Especially when compared to Cavill, whose buffed-out physique adheres to the Jason Bourne-style theatrics Stratton must endure. Described in the official synopsis as “a determined and dedicated Sbs operative”, the film finds him working with MI6 “to prevent a revenge attack in London,” therefore making the beefcake build somewhat of a necessity.

Here's some of the geek TV that will be making its way to us from the Us next year.

Chad Michael Murray, Lyndsy Fonseca and Bridget Regan are all in talks to reprise their roles, while Enver Gjokaj and James D’Arcy’s Edwin Jarvis are confirmed to return.
Now, it’s been revealed that Jarvis’ billionaire playboy of an employer will return as well. In a new interview, series star Hayley Atwell has confirmed that Dominic Cooper will reprise his role of Howard Stark when the prequel series makes the jump to Tinsel Town:

Though Dominic Cooper is committed to AMC's "Preacher" for the foreseeable future, it looks like the busy actor could still return to ABC's "Marvel's Agent Carter" for the show's upcoming second season.
Cooper reprised his role of Howard Stark from "Captain America: The First Avenger" in the first season of "Agent Carter" and today the show's star Hayley Attwell tells Den of Geek that Cooper will be back. How many episodes he will be involved in is unclear.
Atwell also spoke about the second season's L.A. setting: "I've not started work on [season 2] yet, but it's been written. I do know that, one thing they have decided, is that it's going to be set a year later. So it's 1947, it's going to be set in L.A., and I keep on thinking about L.A. Confidential, that kind of film noir, which would be great."

Aside from that first pic of Jesse chatting with Arseface, Seth Rogen hasn't really posted anything too revealing from the set of AMC's Preacher, but there are still a few interesting images popping up on the actor's Twitter feed from time to time. Below you can see the devastation caused from a downed helicopter, Jesse Custer's favourite brand of cigarettes (though his "Fuck Communism" lighter is absent), and a teasing shot of the good Reverend himself. Hopefully as filming continues we'll begin to get some better snaps, and maybe a first look at Joe Gilgun as Cassidy. Preacher stars Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer, Ruth Negga as Tulip O'Hare, Joe Gilgun as Cassidy, Ian Colletti as Arseface, Lucy Griffiths as Emily Woodrow, Elizabeth Perkins as Vyla Quinncannon and Jamie Anne Allman and Derek Wilson as Betsy and Donny Schenck. We still don't know who'll play the Saint Of Killers, but...

So what have we here then? Until Rogen gives us something else to go us, your guess is as good as mine... but it certainly appears to be a couple of slightly sinister looking nuns outside a church. Is this where the Reverend Jesse Custer preaches to his doomed congregation before his fateful meeting with Genesis? Only time will tell. We also have an unofficial set pic, giving us our first proper look at Dominic Cooper as Custer. #Preacher pic.twitter.com/OlKTKVlfhj — Seth Rogen (@Sethrogen) May 22, 2015 Preacher stars Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer, Ruth Negga as Tulip O'Hare, Joe Gilgun as Cassidy, Ian Colletti as Arseface, Lucy Griffiths as Emily Woodrow, Elizabeth Perkins as Vyla Quinncannon and Jamie Anne Allman and Derek Wilson as Betsy and Donny Schenck. We still don't know who'll play the Saint Of Killers, but he's definitely in the show....right?...

Looks like the main cast of AMC's upcoming Preacher pilot just got a little bigger. British talent Tom Brooke has nabbed a series regular role on the show as 'Fiore', one of two Adelphi angels tasked with watching the half-demon, half-angelic creature named 'Genesis'. The show, currently being developed for TV by This Is The End duo Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg, is based on Garth Ennis & Steve Dillion's 90s comic book series of the same name. Brooke joins a cast that so far includes Agent Carter's Dominic Cooper in the lead as 'Jesse Custer', Ruth Negga (Agents Of Shield) as his ex 'Tulip' and Joseph Gilgun (Misfits) as an Irish vampire named 'Cassidy'. A relative unknown, Brooke may seem familiar to Game Of Thrones fans, having portrayed one of Walder Frey's spawn back in Season 3. He has also guest starred on Sherlock, and in British comedy, The Boat That Rocked.

Tom Brooke – seen in Sherlock and Game Of Thrones – has landed an angelic role in AMC’s adaptation of the Preacher comic book…
With the pilot episode of Preacher currently shooting, we’re assuming this is news that AMC has known for a while, but has only just chosen to announce. Regardless, it’s still nice to report that Tom Brooke is joining the show.
Mr Brooke is an English actor, who made a big impression as Bill ‘Wiggie’ Wiggins (Sherlock’s drug-loving sidekick, with an eye for his own deductions) in 2014 Sherlock episode His Last Vow.
That was hardly his first rodeo, though, he also played Lothar Frey in season 3 of Game Of Thrones. He’s also appeared in pretty much every British crime-based show going, including Ripper Street, Lewis, Foyle’s War, Hustle and Thieves Like Us. He also appeared in cinematic comedies Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason...
