More than a ski movie. My new all-time favorite athlete profile documentary.

My favorite "fantasy" ski movie of all-time is Believe, which also stars Tanner Hall and was also directed by CP. Tanner Hall Forever is my new favorite athlete profile documentary of all-time. This film dares to do what no sponsored ski film has done before. It takes us well past the fantasy curtain and explores the life or death stakes demanded of pro skiers on a very real level. I had tears in my eyes during the scenes that explore his and CP's very personal connection to the all too common tragedies in the ski world. At the same time I was wowed by Tanner's resilience and the courage it took for him to move forward. As Tanner's Mother says in her interview, the highs are high and the lows can be very low. Tanner holds nothing back. He allows himself to be completely vulnerable for a deep dive into what makes him tick. While there is a good amount of banger skiing, this film transcends the ski film genre and would be inspiring to anyone. Its universal themes of overcoming tragedy and following ones true passion will stand the test of time. I stayed up until midnight to see it right when it got released for today's online premiere. I was not disappointed. Just wow.
