Bounty hunters and cartel killers have invaded Palm Springs, as production begins on The Night Crew, just one of the many projects that Danny Trejo is slated to star in this year. Trejo is working again with director Christian Sesma; they worked together on Shoot The Hero. For that matter so are some of the film's other stars, Luke Goss and Bokeem Woodbine. Other regulars include Jason Mewes and Paul Sloan. Canadian actress Chasty Bellesteros plays the mysterious Chinese woman mentioned below and Brazilian native Luciana Faulhaber adds some spice to the bounty hunter team.Yet, I am puzzled because evidence suggests (The Night Crew Facebook page) that filming has been going on since early December, and Sesma is already filming his next feature, Awol, but who...

Fellow Palm Springs resident, Christian Sesma, is slowly but surely realizing his dream of becoming a Hollywood filmmaker. His latest film, "Shoot the Hero" was well-received at the Palm Springs International Film Festival and is now being released by Warner Video on DVD and On-Demand.
Jason Mewes, in a rare "straight" performance, ditches his Jay persona from the "Clerks" movies, and stars as Samantha Lockwood's fiance, Nate. The couple gets entangled with a botched jewelry heist that would soon change the course of their lives.
Danny Trejo aka "Machete" also co-stars.
The film was shot 100% in Palm Springs so I tagged along with the directors to see his production locations. Take a look at this travelogue into the wild and crazy mind of Sesma.

Below you will see a rating for Easy Rider: The Ride Back, a film from Pan America Pictures that I had not heard of, but checked out and based on the official site it's described as a "long awaited" prequel to the Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper and Jack Nicholson classic Easy Rider and apparently "shows through flashbacks how these much loved characters became the classic icons of a generation."
The film is directed by Dustin Rikert and stars a bunch of people I've never heard of such as Chris Engen, Michelle Borth, Thomas Blankenship and Newell Alexander. Oh, and Jeff Fahey (Grindhouse), I've heard of him. You can watch the trailer just to the right if you are so inclined.
Other than that note, here are the new MPAA ratings from Bulletin No: 2135.
Bran Nue Dae Rated PG-13 For sexual content and drug use. Catfish Rated PG-13 For some sexual references.

I’ve been a fan of Jason Mewes ever since I discovered Kevin Smith’s indie smash “Clerks” way back when I was an impressionable little film nerd in high school. And while his direct-to-video work is pretty much hit and miss, it’s still good to know that he’s still out there doing his thing. Writer/director Christian Sesma’s 2010 action/comedy “Shoot the Hero” finds Mewes portraying a guy who unexpectedly finds himself caught up in jewelry heist gone horribly awry. The film also features Machete himself, Mr. Danny Trejo, which is always a very, very good thing. If you’re curious about the specifics, the trailer has been expertly embedded below for your infinite enjoyment. “Shoot the Hero” is scheduled for a proper North American DVD release on October 19th courtesy of Virgil Films and Entertainment.
