Not your typical tv show!
lbenton25006 June 2021
Let's get this out in the open ... this is NOT a highbrow drama destined for multiple Emmy nominations.

This is a fun and campy drama/dark comedy that encourages us to look back at the peak of the COVID pandemic and laugh a little at how we handled it. There are those who denied the seriousness, those who politicized a public health crisis, those who were in a constant state of panic, and those who simply tried to help others and continue their lives as best they could. We observe the story's heroes and see the sacrifices, heartbreak and tough decisions they made for the greater good. Fun series. Well worth the time. Just go into it expecting a campy approach, not a serious drama or laugh out loud comedy.

Definitely well-worth a watch...
paul_haakonsen12 September 2021
I happened to come across the 2021 series "The Bite" by random chance. I hadn't heard about the series prior to getting to sit down and binge-watch all six episodes of season one. And trust me, once you start on this, you just gobble down one episode after another.

I was more than genuinely entertained by what "The Bite" delivered. And I dare say that this is a series that definitely pack a bite, pardon the pun.

The storyline is one that is rather interesting. Now, of course one might argue for or against the thing about the series setting the COVID virus as being the root of the infection, albeit a new and more potent strain, of course. Personally, I found it to be okay, because it definitely reflects how the world has been for the past year and a half.

The characters in the series are nicely detailed and fleshed out on the screen, which means that it is characters you can connect with and go through their ups and downs with. So the writers definitely managed to do well in the character gallery department, as well as the dialogue department.

Visually then "The Bite" was good. Sure, this wasn't top of the line special effects and CGI. But the special effects were working as intended and were good, so I was content. Now, the thing about the infected being able to extend their jaws further than humanly possible, as seen in the not-so-great movie "I Am Legend", that was just beyond me. It added an unnecessary element of stupidity to the series, and it made the infected come of as being more of a comedy-relief than dangerously infected individuals capable of spreading a deadly virus.

Something I really enjoyed about the storyline in "The Bite" was the fact that the writers actually offered a plausible origin to a zombie outbreak here. That is something that is most commonly avoided doing in series and movies that have a zombie theme. So that was definitely something that worked in favor of the series, and it was something I enjoyed having included.

There is a good amount of jabs at social situations, governmental situations, political situations, medical situations, the general situation of the world, etc. In this series. And that was something that definitely also added a subtle layer to the storyline.

However, I thoroughly enjoyed "The Bite", and I sat through all six episodes in one rapid succession, watching them back to front. So yeah, "The Bite" was definitely a nice surprise to stumble upon here in 2021. And talk about being left off hanging on a cliffhanger as the sixth episode ended. I am definitely returning for a second season, provided there will be one.

I am rating "The Bite" a well-deserved seven out of ten stars. If you have the opportunity to sit down and watch this series, you should do so.

Loved it!

Wish it had more than 6 episodes, watched them all in an evening.

Great cast,acting,storyline,cinematography & music.

Had a perfect mix of drama, humor & horror.

Despite the Covid undertones,it didn't distract from overall premise.

Worth a watch!

Funny, if You Don't Overthink It
syd990722 May 2021
At first I didn't know if I'd like The Bite, but once I started watching, it was hilarious. This limited series is just fun. It doesn't need to be dissected, it doesn't warrant some esoteric ramblings that will bore us to tears, ignore the trolls (most haven't even seen the series and you can tell), it's simply six comedic episodes about a shaky marriage, a virus, friendships and zombies. Audra McDonald is perfect as Rachel...she brings that character to life. Taylor Schilling is also a standout and the Zombies lurching around cracks me up.

excellent, funny and poignant
curtispeace11 June 2021
I knew if I read dinner reviews that someone was going to call this show 'woke', it portrays a funny science fiction like story that overlays what is happening in the two world with COVID-19, that said, anyone calling it 'woke' is some goofball who doesn't understand that real viruses can be deadly even as much as killing 50-75% like Ebola which only didn't spread as easily as COVID-19, hence their ignorance that spreads to any subject matter regarding pandemics, this series is excellent, what happens IF another virus comes that is both fast spreading AND incredibly deadly?, anyway, this is FICTION, it even proposes that the virus in the show was manipulated, which should make the kooky 'anti-woke' crowd 'happy', long story short - ignore ANYONE calling something out someone 'woke', it only demonstrates their inability to accept anything outside their fox news pablum, peace!

Best Show since BrainDead and Santa Clarita Diet
severinc0025 June 2021
This show is hilarious - ignore the comments on its wokeness. It's funny and from what I've seen so far it makes fun of all politicians. It's particularly fun as the COVID pandemic winds down. Whatever you do, hang around for the credits!

So stupid, it starts to hurt physically just watching it
bwdude19 June 2022
Who thinks of $%& like that?

It starts out slow, but not bad.

Then there's "The Bite", the first one at least.

From there it quickly spirals down to the level of the worst low-budget Zombie-movies of the 70s.

Abysmal acting and a "storyline" that gets more ridiculous by the minute. Nothing, actually NOTHING makes the least bit of sense.

I made it almost to the end of e02, then I had to stop and won't touch it again.

Might be the worst series I have seen in the last year.

Terrific!
sally-2179518 June 2021
This is a satirical comedy-drama with a great cast - and zombies. It may not win any Emmys, but it is highly entertaining. Obviously a few reviewers here are cranky because it pokes fun at their Fox News bubble, so clearly it hit its mark. Enjoy!!!

It stinks!
jmdns1 September 2021
I don't know who the twit was at CBS that gave this show a green light, but I do know this show stinks in the worst possible way. It's like one of those cheap amateur productions that splurged on great looking sets and lighting but forgot to spend decent money on good script writing. It's not funny, the story line is juvenile, the acting ho hum and you have to wonder why anyone would waste their time creating this abomination.

This is bad, like real bad.
ednk1 September 2021
Finished the first episode, couldn't not believe that such known actors were capable of delivering such bad acting. Five minutes in the second episode, and my despair is confirmed. Bad story, bad writing, bad acting and even worse than that.

Okay, I get it, during Covid-19, it was almost impossible to record good tv shows. But that does not mean they should give up trying. Clearly this series has been thrown together very quickly and nobody knew what they were actually doing. Maybe on paper the storyline was funny, but the result is very, very bad.

A few examples, without telling any spoilers. A doctor who is working for months on her computer, doing Zoom consultations. Clearly she is able to work with multiple screens, multiple computers. But when things get heated, she forgets how the unmute button works. Really? Do the producers think we are that stupid? Another example, the dominatrix sees a guy growling and attacking her like an animal, but still thinks the guy is having a bad reaction to bath salts. Come on guys, how dare you to think we, the viewers, would be so stupid to believe this?

I get the comparison with Brain Dead and Santa Clarita Diet. Which were very good shows and cancelled too early. But this one? It should've never been produced.

Worst show ever
ultra-041518 October 2021
Wanted to give it a big fat donut. So bad it's even worse. Everything, script(same zombie garbage),actors that would look bad on any network sitcom and a lame attempt at humor at what is supposedly a spoof on the living dead theme. You want a good zombie comedy see Shaun Of The Dead.

The Good Bite
akira-hideyo1 September 2021
This show has the same infected blood brilliance of The Good Fight and Brain Dead, coursing from and right through the same vein of pedigree pair, aka, Robert and Michelle King. No need to wonder on some of the low ratings nor hateful bashings. This either appeals to the wilful intellectuals that understand this is tequila dessert taken with an extra with a pinch of salt or it will almost always offend the ungrateful dead that stormed the Capitol. It's not the same inspiration given for all taking the same black pill (American Horror Story) to expect atmospheric appreciation of inane and not turn those select naysayers into the walking dead and storm the Capitol 2.0 again. Relax, enjoy this genius of a show with an Oreo, a sugar rush no less effective than the actual black pills. Salut!

I loved every minute of it!
Luxi19641 September 2021
Really not what you might expect but if you like the unusual you probably get a thrill out of this one. First I did not know what to think about it but Iended up binge watching the 6 episodes in one evening. I must admit the end made me cringe for a minute but than again..it was the perfect ending for this show. We are still in the middle of this pandemic..and thinking about what if, is a bit creepy. The bite is really funny though if you like this kind of humor all those little hints and allusions to things that actually happened are just hilarious. And by the way, I am a huge fan of that delivery guy now! Thumb's up and thank's for a nice long evening of entertainment.

What can I say!
mrdim-322461 September 2021
Do you like to chuckle?

Do you like to laugh?

Do you like a great cast, with a great storyline which sucks you into a show...

Well this is NOT it.

The rung of tv zomcoms 10. Santa Clarita Diet 9.5 I Zombie 0.01 The Bite

2 episodes and this has to be amongst the most mediocre attempts at comedy I have ever seen... IMDB would not allow a 0.00000000001 rating hence the 1.. and that is the only reason it got a 1.

Very cheeky and clever on a low budget...
DukeEman8 September 2021
A biting satire on current events, taking on the politics and the Pharmaceutical industry. All via an entertaining kind of slapstick within the confined spaces that we find ourselves in today. Apart from dealing with the COVID pandemic, it throws in a zombie virus, ensuring pandemonium of the stupidity kind.

In a delicious way it also takes a swipe at today's society by what has become the dreaded norms. Like forming opinions by researching the internet for fifteen minutes, believing the corrupted to suit your agenda, and the influences of today's stupid social media darlings.

Along the way it has fun with the "soapy drama" and schlock horror films. My best bits is the courier boy who manages to get his job done during the zombie holocaust. Season 2 should be from his point of view and how he carried out his job under zombie duress!

McDonald and Schilling play it to perfection, without going overboard, ensuring there is some silliness and laughter along the way. Maybe the writing needed a bit more development, but when you have the King's in charge (they also created. The Good Wife, The Good Fight, Evil) then I guess they can do whatever the hell they like. So enjoy...

How to take a clever idea and ruin it
andrewrye-065353 September 2021
When I saw this was by the same people who did Evil I thought this would be worth a look. It wasn't.

Another excuse to do a zombie/walking dead crap show. Seems any excuse to smack the genre over our heads.

A great idea though, a variant of Covid, something we can all relate to and handled right it could have been a damn good thriller horror with subtle comedy. But as soon as I saw the dead come back to life it stunk to high heaven. Have to say, I wasn't taken with the characters back stories though. Unbelievable and OTT, hopeless.

Steer clear, it's a 2 because the clickbait worked. No spoilers, it spoils itself.

The content is so outdated already that it should be shelved as "too irrelevant".

Really bad acting, this plot has actually been done previously by at least two movies that I'm aware of.

Worth the watch
ralph2591130 January 2022
Was already hooked after 1 episode but the ending was not what I anticipated, seriously.

This is in response to the newer covid variant, well it could not have been better.

Why end on such a cliffhanger, why, I have questions.
