- One character commit violence throughout the film and is a threat to others, which is fairly frightening.
- Erika Berger, Mikael's co-worker and part-time lover, is sent hate emails in order to get Mikael to stop the investigation. One night, while she is lying in bed, someone hurls a rock through her window. It is an especially frightening moment in the film because it comes so suddenly.
