- Attendant #2: Good morning. We're having banana pancakes for breakfast today.
- Tango: I like pancakes.
- Victor: We're all gonna die.
- Laurence Dominic: It's easy to become attached to your assigned active. In fact, it's necessary. But don't think of them as children. Think of them as pets.
- Dr. Claire Saunders: [annoyed] Is that supposed to be funny?
- Laurence Dominic: If your child starts talking for the first time, you feel proud. If your dog does, you freak the hell out! Any developmental progress an active makes is dangerous to the house. And a possible first step toward another Alpha.
- Dr. Claire Saunders: If you start playing with their meds, it could backfire or damage them...
- Topher Brink: Or solve the problem. I know what I'm doing, Doc.
- Dr. Claire Saunders: So do I. But I also *care* what you're doing... to our pets.
- Topher Brink: You can't imprint on top of a fully functional brain. It'll implode!
- Echo: Oh. Is that why you keep us so simple?
- Topher Brink: [frightened] Yes. Yes!
- Echo: How come it's there, if you didn't give it to me?
- Topher Brink: It's coming from you. It's what you need. I have your memories. You can have them back.
- Echo: You can do that?
- Topher Brink: Totally.
- Echo: [Indicating the chair] But I have to go in there.
- Topher Brink: Well yeah. But...
- Echo: [backs up] Okay.
- Topher Brink: Okay.
- Echo: [points the gun at Topher] You first.
- Laurence Dominic: I was just informed we have four actives preparing to escape.
- Adelle DeWitt: [grins] Right on schedule.
- Boyd Langton: We can't jump at shadows. I don't wanna report that my active asked for toast and have her sent to the Attic. We were hired to protect them.
- Adelle DeWitt: In the field, yes, Mr. Langton. In here, we protect the house! A tide is rising. Until we learn how to turn it back, we pile up the sandbags together. Unless anyone here thinks they've got a better idea.
- Echo: You work for them. Who are they? Where are we?... Please!
- Dr. Claire Saunders: I'm not your friend in here, Echo. I'm sorry I can't help you.
- Laurence Dominic: [Realizing Echo's in the building] She was in the car.
- Adelle DeWitt: Apparently she's got one step ahead of us. I should have seen this coming. This is Caroline, minus the memories. But it's her. And this is exactly what Caroline would do.
- Echo: Who are you?
- Adelle DeWitt: Adelle Dewitt. I am responsible for this facility and everyone in it.
- Echo: Then you are one sick bitch!
- Dr. Claire Saunders: We give them what they need.
- Adelle DeWitt: Dr. Saunders?
- Dr. Claire Saunders: Closure. If actives have particularly poignant or reoccurring experiences, these can cause desires, emotional needs, or reactivate old ones that existed before they came here. Open loops. If they're able to close those loops to get some sense of resolve...
- Adelle DeWitt: You're recommending we allow them to take a self-guided journey.
- Dr. Claire Saunders: Just the priority cases. Let the tide come in. It's the only way to wash it back out.
- Boyd Langton: When Echo was leading them out, I would've liked to have seen that. Even if it was all a game. Your game.
- Dr. Claire Saunders: Do you think I had fun?
- Boyd Langton: I don't know you very well.
- Dr. Claire Saunders: You have to look after Echo. I have to look after all of them. She wasn't leading them to freedom. She was leading them to a world of terror and chaos that would have destroyed them.
- Boyd Langton: She's not leading them anywhere anymore.
- Dr. Claire Saunders: You should be grateful.
- Boyd Langton: Yeah. I'll work on that.
- Echo: [Ballard checks his voicemail] Paul Ballard, this is - you don't know me. But I have a file and your name is in it, and I think we've met. I know it sounds crazy...
- Paul Ballard: Caroline.
- Echo: But we're here, somewhere underground. I'm trying to get everyone out, but if I can't - please, please find us!
- Echo: [dolls woke up from induced state, mills about; one theory is that they've been abducted by aliens] It's definitely feeling kinda lab-ratty here.
- Sierra: I'm leaving before the electric shock.
- [tries rushing off, but where to?]
- November: [hyperventilating] Sorry, it's a defence mechanism. I'm just really terri... fied.
- Victor: Anybody else got anything better than aliens?
- Echo: I'm serious about lab rats.
- November: Maybe were supposed to be here.
- Sierra: What for? I didn't do anything.
- November: Do you know that?
- Echo: I don't remember anything. I mean, I know the days of the week, the capital of Nebraska, but nothing... about me.
- Victor: My guess? We're prisoners of some sort. And we need to assess the situation, formulate a strategy...
- Sierra: Run!
- [when she gets looked at sharply:]
- Sierra: Strategically.
- Victor: Somebody hurt you. Like Nolan.
- [Sierra is near tears]
- Victor: Oh, I can see it happening.
- [girl breaks down]
- Victor: God, I could see his face. But I couldn't stop him.
- Sierra: I trusted him.
- [angrily:]
- Sierra: Why did I trust him?
- Victor: I'm sorry.
- Sierra: [remembers] Wait. Wait. You wait for me... when we go to bed, at night. To make sure I'm okay.
- [nods]
- Sierra: Wait. What have they done to us?
- [they hear voices nearing]
- Sierra: I don't know which to hope for.
- [gasps]
- Sierra: It feels like dying either way.
