Why ruined it?
amsmall278 February 2021
Why you gotta ruined this episode with that ending? Such a shame. But kudos for choosing Numb as one of the tracks for this episode.

I don't understand the bad reviews.

A great episode. Her doing molly was a bit out of character, but entertaining. Why are people mad about the way the show approached a real life, important issue such as racism? I'm thankful they're using their platform to speak on this, and I look forward to seeing how this plays out. The writers should be proud of themselves.

Another great one

Don't think the bad reviews are justified. Most don't seem to have a problem with the drug use scene, though that was a bit weird and out of character. Low reviews because the show rightfully called out inequality in tech and workplaces in general?? That's honestly depressing. That people get that upset because they would rather remain willfully ignorant is pathetic and obviously part of why is exists.

Fun A-Plot, Okay B-Plot, Terrible C-Plot
rossdanbruen22 February 2021
I enjoyed the drug trip surprisingly, and seeing tense relationships temper down and be replaced by potential friendships. But I'm black, and Simon's upcoming arc annoyed the crap out of me. The A.I. thing is based on a real occurrence, but they never articulated if the problem was due to a lack of black faces imported into their algorithm, light recognition that was only calibrated to faces with higher exposure, or something else otherwise easily fixed making this a careless oversight. Or that perhaps, it ISN'T an issue that's easily fixed, and it's an innate reality of the technology that darker skinned faces will struggle in it. Instead, they insist it's exclusively due to the racial makeup of the board, implying that the tech issue is perhaps easily resolved but was just ignored by the bosses (and yet presumably can't easily be fixed now by drawing their attention to it) Because honestly, it'd be easy to prove the flaw in their system even just as a civilian. Heads would roll just as they did in real life, and there's no reason they wouldn't fix it, certainly after being caught. (assuming it can be fixed).

Simon could certainly be annoyed at this development, but to feel like he's been attacked in his soul? Who wrote this? And Mo telling him to leave was ridiculous too. As much as Mo loves to call out white privledge, I'm surprised he didn't call out his business partner for turning down a vital investment just because his daddy didn't "believe" in him.

So disappointed
cmsflyingmule15 February 2021
This was a GREAT and COMICAL show about family and love life. Then it took an entirely unnecessary political turn. Not only unnecessary but it was not logical leap on why the tech was not working. If the facial recognition was not recognizing a skin tone it is most likely that the testing and development employees didn't think to test on all skin tones. Is that be an oversight, maybe, it's mostly likely an innocent mistake. Blaming CEOs of racism is quite a leap.Especially when they set out to fix the problem as soon as it was identified. By claiming victim when it was an innocent mistake just perpetuates tribalism. Please give us entertainment like the first season of this show, fun, comical, and something that all people can talk about with joy. Give entertainment that can be bridge for everyone to have something in common, something that does not build/ increase tribalism.

The downfall of a great show...
disco-434246 February 2021
ZEP has NO need for tripping on Molly (Trippy enough on Zoey) and definitely no need for the BS Race card storyline either. Mo and Simon are very successful people and playing them as victims because of the color of their skin is disgraceful!

I was waiting for it

I have loved this show up until now, but I wondered if they'd stay out of the political sphere or if they just couldn't resist. Funny how there was no preferential treatment based on race anywhere in this show to give Simon something to complain about, so they had to *invent* something to claim he's being treated unfairly. I wish Hollywood would stop lecturing and pushing their agenda and get back to creating and entertaining. I'm done with this show now, unfortunately.

What?!!!
richardm-196305 February 2021
I have enjoyed every episode of ZEP, but this one left me wondering what the writers were thinking. Almost couldn't sit through it. The single redeeming moment was Astin's "More Like Me".

A filler episode
paulsartor958 February 2021
Love this show but this one was absolutely a filler ep that is best described by my mother as a 'mid day movie'. Don't know why they did this ep like this but hoping it gets back to its usual great self

Long and over run
cmburton-2987522 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I totally love that a show can use its power when it's properly developed to make social change. But as a fellow reviewer drew attention to, this was such a poorly developed concept on the drama with Simons issues. They leaped to a conclusion that a software issue that plagues AI real life, could only be possible because of a lack of POC on the board of directors? It's very confusing and an obvious plot hole. I hope the future episodes make more sense but as someone who loves this show, I expect more thoughtfulness in development of plot issues. No problem with the issue itself, just the lack of finesse it took to get there

Just when I thought this show couldn't get more political, woke and half-witted..
wicker-9346016 February 2021
First of all. Trying to force some kind of BLM inspired "insert some anti-racist agenda where there's no racism" is beyond laughable... Who ever wrote this episode has some issues. The fact that an app has a problem with recognizing a certain skin tone has ZERO procent to do with the higher ups and their skin color (or sexual organs for that matter, of course they had to go there as well right? In for a penny in for a pound...) and everything to do with the software and the people developing it. Last I checked the black guy who is apparently spearheading this pathetic unwarranted emotional "brave fight" works in the same exact floor where the damn app is developed. Could this become anymore asinine? Judging by history, I guess it can.

And if they wanted to include some random drug trip they should at least have made it so that the main character didn't look like a complete moron.

"Hi, I'm zoey, I'm gonna take this drug that I have no idea what it is,even though I just 5 seconds ago claimed I'm not a drug person and expressed worry about what it is. I'm not even going to ask this guy I barely know about what it is, even though he's the one who supplied it. But I'm stooped so whatever. Derp lol."

I'm pretty sure they wanted to leave any drug name out of it to be safe. For what reason I'm not sure, since she already mentioned angel dust in the same scene. Resulting in the main character loosing all credibility. For a show seemingly made to be as pc and woke as humanly possible they sure do love making women look dumb. Go figure.

I was really trying to like this show but this episode took it way too far... I hope more people stop watching it so the actors can save themselves the embarrassment of being a part of this s*** show any longer.

Drugs are not ok
rb_oasis26 January 2022
This series had a terrific first season, and an ok start to the second season. This episode was very disappointing in many ways. The whole Zoey taking drugs to show her rebellious side is so out of character for the girl we've grown to love up to this point. Even sadder was that Zoey never showed remorse for doing something that she is against that had some consequences. The writers made light of taking drugs, making it appear as though it was a fun experience. The Zoey we know would never compromise her principles like that.
