Up! is a live action film and was Diane's first USC Short Film in September 1990 and was screened in the George Lucas Building on the USC campus.
In 2009, Disney's Pixar and George Lucas released UP, an animated film flipped with opposites, and with a house flying with balloons, characters named Alpha and Beta and starring Ed Asner whom Diane and Amber Rose met at a SAG picnic when she was an infant.
That same month about a week or so later, Diane was cast to play a Disney Animator in "Michael and Mickey" with Disney Studio head, Michael Eisner.
This film was the director's first USC Film. Ms. Kelly originally screened in her 290 Class in USC's George Lucas building in the first week of September in 1990. Approximately 2 weeks later, the director Diane Kelly was cast in "Michael and Mickey" at Disney Studios to play the role of an Animator with Disney Studio Head Michael Eisner. "Michael and Mickey" was very unique at the time as Disney started to use a new technology from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?", where tunes/animated characters were added to LIVE ACTION sequences with real actors. Ms. Kelly was also edited into the Disney 50th Anniversary video that featured her in scenes with Mr. Eisner.
This 3 minute short film called Up ! (Copyright 1990) stars a then 3-year-old Amber Rose. Filmed on a single roll of Super 8 Color Film with an IN-Camera Edit which means it has NO EDITING WHATSOEVER and was filmed without cuts. Filmed in Universal City, CA, Casa De Cahuenga, Alpha Beta Supermarket and Sophisticated Balloons at Lankershim and Riverside Drive in North Hollywood.
