Just as Peterkin and Richard Shelton talk about having their next adventure. They come across a shrieking woman called Mad Meg roaming the forest.
It is a cry for help and assistance. The Prioress on her way to the Abbey at Godwincham has been injured. Richard sees to her leg and volunteers to be her protector until her leg could be mended.
The Prioress and novice nun are taking a religious relic, the Holy Finger of St Bartholomew in a casket. It has been blessed by the Pope in Rome. It is on the way to the Abbey to be buried.
However it has attracted the attention of outlaws who want to steal it. The Prioress is shot by an arrow. They arrive at an inn where they are met by a priest.
It's not exactly a rip roaring adventure. I liked how Shelton's aim with the arrow immediately improves after Prioress is injured.
As for the priest, Shelton did not smell a rat but the audience is tipped off.
