Matthan Harris, creator of the independent horror flick The Infliction, has announced that Italian composer Marco Werba will be writing the score for the film. To go along with this news, Harris supplied us with a new set of stills.
Werba, whose credits include Timo Rose's Beast, Fearmakers, and Braincell won the Fantasy Horror Award in 2010 for his score in Dario Argento's Giallo (see a picture of the two men below). You can learn more about him via the official Marco Werba website.
The Infliction stars genre favorites Bill Moseley, Sid Haig, Doug Bradley and Giovanni Lombardo Radice alongside Matthan Harris, Lindsay Hightower, Charles Duran, Gerardo Davila and Amy Erin Amory. The flick also marks the first time Bill Moseley and Doug Bradley have acted together (as Mr. O'Hara and Agent Wilson, respectively).
Synopsis:

Talk about late to the party. February will see the release of Virus X, a direct-to-dvd thriller about a mutant H1N1 virus (aka swine flu) that runs amok. The film stars Domiziano Arcangel (Frankenstein Rising), Joe Zaso (Braincell), and Sybil Danning (Chained Heat). More after the jump. Virus X (previously titled H1N1: Virus X) marks Ryan Stevens Harris's directorial debut. Don't get too excited about bonus features; all the DVD will include are two making-of featurettes. It looks like it could a silly, gory little film. Check out the trailer: Source: DVD Active...

Fango heard from busy indie-horror actor Joe Zaso, who’s done a number of New York-area and overseas fright flicks and recently made a trip to La to co-star in a sci-fi chiller called H1N1: Virus X. He sent along a couple of photos (see them below) and comments on the currently lensing movie, directed by first-timer Ryan Stevens Harris.
Executive-produced by Domiziano Arcangeli (of Orgy Of Blood, which we previously reported on here) and veteran B-meister David S. Sterling and co-starring The Devil’S Rejects’ Priscilla Barnes, H1N1: Virus X casts Zaso as Dr. Gravaman, an evil scientist who performs twisted experiments on human guinea pigs. It’s “not too far a stretch” from the types of roles Zaso has been regularly playing lately, he tells us: “This seems to be the year of the troublemaking doctor roles for me. First was Braincell, which was...

Day Three
On Sunday I tried to make it to the Vindication panel to see writer/director Bart Mastronardi and his cast, but just couldn’t do it as I had NewFest commitments. Later I did race from NewFest (in Chelsea) to the con to catch the Vindication screening. I got there about 10 minutes late, but the room was standing room only. I’ve already seen the film, so I’m glad my butt wasn’t taking a seat from someone who hasn’t seen this really f-ing awesome film. Keep an eye out in this blog for more info and interviews from the cast and crew in the near future.

Wrong Turn 3 director Declan O’Brien will be previewing his new Fox DVD splatter sequel at the fast-approaching East Coast edition of Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors, to be held June 5-7 at the Jacob K. O’Brien (pictured below with friend), the director of the Sci Fi Channel original movies Rock Monster, Monster Ark and Cyclops, will debut exclusive clips from Wrong Turn 3 (about another group of lost travelers facing off against inbred hillbilly maniacs) at the convention on Sunday.
In addition to his directing chores, O’Brien has also scripted Harpies, The Snake King and Savage Planet for Sci Fi. Stop by this site again over the next couple of days as we begin posting the full schedules (auditorium panels and film programs) for the Fango show.

New York-based indie genre actor/filmmaker Joe Zaso gave us the first look at the poster for his latest feature Braincell (pictured left), which he recently produced and starred in for director Alex Birrell. He also passed on a pic from a genre short he recently appeared in called Immune; you can see both images below.
Braincell is a sci-fi chiller filmed in Britain and Italy, starring Zaso as a professor at a university where his niece (Zaso’s frequent co-star Raine Brown) encounters grotesque experiments. You can check out the trailer and more info here; Birrell, Zaso and Brown will talk up the feature, which Zaso will release Stateside through his Cinema Image company, at our New York City Weekend of Horrors, running this Friday-Sunday.

“This was an idea Billy and I came up with about two years ago, shortly after starring together in the yet-to-be-released Psycho Holocaust,” Brown tells us. “Basically, it’s Mr. And Mrs. Smith meets Silence Of The Lambs on a shoestring budget—a dark comedy with wacky characters and cool effects scenes.”
In addition to her acting and producing duties, Brown will handle the film’s costumes, while Garberina (whose credits include Gimme Skelter and Necroville) will direct and edit. “We’re both actors who like to make their own opportunities,” says Brown, who also appears opposite Garberina in the upcoming Braincell, “and we wanted to be part of a movie that gave us...

British producer Neil Jones and director Stuart Brennan sent along a batch of exclusive stills (see them below) from their eagerly awaited horror indie Zombies Of The Night. The undead saga, scripted by Leo McKellen, is very close to finishing postproduction.
“The movie was conceived out of a frustration with other projects I was working on,” Brennan tells Fango. “I’ve been an advocate of the just-do-it approach to filmmaking, and I’m now at a stage in my career where projects are at the mercy of financiers and distributors, and that gets frustrating. It had been 10 months since I had last been on a film set, and I just rang up a bunch of crewmembers and asked if they wanted to spend a few days at a hotel in the countryside and shoot a feature.

The producers of the new sci-fi shocker Braincell gave Fango the exclusive first look at the movie’s trailer; check it out below the cut. The preview features a nice amount of blood, and also a bit of skin, so it ain’t work-safe!
Directed by Alex Birrell and lensed in Liverpool, England and Naples, Italy, Braincell (which we last covered here) stars Raine Brown as a young woman who discovers horrifying experiments with violent results taking place at a university where her uncle (Joe Zaso, also one of the producers) is a professor. Darkness Surrounds Roberta’s Eileen Daly, Necroville’s Billy Garberina and Colour From The Dark’s Eleanor James co-star; the music is by Marco Werba, who’s also scoring Dario Argento’s new Giallo. “There’s a lifetime’s worth of horror-film watching in Braincell,” Birrell tells us, and Zaso adds, “It’s a very savage...
