Peter Ramsey, Caleeb Pinkett Producing Live-Action Feature Adaptation Of Comic Book ‘The Storm Clan’
Exclusive: Academy Award winner Peter Ramsey (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) and former Overbook head Caleeb Pinkett (Cobra Kai) are set to produce a live-action feature adaptation of The Storm Clan, the comic book created by Dallas Jackson and Joe Casey, which marks the first title from Jackson’s new company DJ Classicz Comix.
Jackson and Casey will pen the script, with former Lionsgate exec Jorge Alfaro to serve as an EP.
A sci-fi action adventure story, The Storm Clan watches as an ex-military weapons engineer trains his five adopted children to be undercover hi-tech/martial-arts thieves wearing an invincible bionic-body armor. Previously orphaned, the teenagers gifted with bionic technology see it provide them with the opportunity to protect themselves from the threats of the streets, also empowering them to take advantage of life instead of being taken advantage of, and most importantly, giving them comfort and sense of belonging within a family.

The recurring pattern in Will Smtih and Jada Pinkett Smith’s marriage is one of public defenses and reconciliations — and private rifts and separations. Maybe that’s the way all celebrity relationship struggles should go, but tabloid fodder and the rumors that these stars do choose to comment on often leave a paper trail.
Smith’s latest public defense of his relationship with Pinkett Smith wasn’t actually about the relationship at all — it was just about her. When he unleashed “Keep my wife’s name out your fucking mouth...

Chicago – The person in the middle of The Slap seen around the world – upon Chris Rock by Will Smith at the 94th Academy Awards – was Will’s wife of 24 years, the actor and musician Jada Pinkett Smith. She had shaved her head due to a diagnosis of alopecia, and Chris Rock raised Will Smith’s ire by making a joke about Pinkett Smith appearing in “G.I. Jane 2,” a reference to her military grade style. Jada Pinkett Smith was photographed in 2008 by Joe Arce and interviewed in 2015 by Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com.
Jada Koren Pinkett was born in Baltimore, and was raised in an arts-oriented family headed by her mother and grandmother. She attended the Baltimore School for the Arts – with fellow student and close friend Tupac Shakur – and also attended the North Carolina School of Arts. She began her acting career in 1990.

It seems pretty odd to have survived a serious accident only to proclaim, “I cannot wait to do a superhero show,” but stranger still is the fact that that’s exactly what actor David Julian Hirsch is now doing as Richard Conrad/Blue-Bolt on Jupiter’s Legacy.
Born in Canada on October 26, 1973, Hirsch had every intention of becoming a lawyer, having studied criminology at the University of Toronto. Then he “foolishly” decided to perform in a New York summer acting workshop and found himself hooked. He made his TV acting debut in a 1998 episode of La Femme Nikita and became a series regular on such Canadian series as Leap Years, Naked Josh, Lovebites, and Hawthorne. Between 2001 and 2013 he appeared in about a dozen films. But it’s Netflix’s Jupiter’s Legacy that is the answer to his accident-inducing pronouncement and as you can tell from the following interview,...

Apple has won the bidding for the runaway slave thriller “Emancipation” starring Will Smith and directed by Antoine Fuqua.
Warner Bros, MGM, Lionsgate and Universal also made offers on the property starting last week at the Cannes virtual market. CAA Media Finance, which arranged the financing for the film, represents U.S. rights at the market. Film Nation Entertainment represents international sales.
“Emancipation” is written by William N. Collage and centered on a runaway slave named Peter, who escaped to the Union Army during the Civil War and outwitted bounty hunters over 10 days through the Louisiana swamps, masking his scent with onions. Army photos taken of Peter showing the scars on his back from being whipped were published in 1863 and became known as the “scourged back” photos, which became a means to illustrate the cruelty of slavery.

Apple has won in an auction the worldwide distribution rights to “Emancipation,” a thriller based on the true story of a runaway slave that Apple will produce and that will be directed by Antoine Fuqua and star Will Smith, an individual with knowledge of the deal told TheWrap.
The deal for the film was made out of the Cannes Virtual Market and will premiere in theaters and on Apple TV+.
Willam N. Collage wrote the original script that’s based on true events and is the story of Peter, a runaway slave forced to outwit cold-blooded hunters and the unforgiving swamps of Louisiana on a tortuous journey North. Once there, he joined the Union Army. When Peter showed his bare back during an Army medical examination, photos were taken of the scars from a whipping delivered by an overseer on the plantation owned by John and Bridget Lyons that nearly killed him.

Apple Studios has acquired world rights to Emancipation, the film package with Antoine Fuqua directing Will Smith in a Willam N. Collage-scripted action thriller about the harrowing escape of Peter, a runaway slave forced to outwit cold-blooded hunters and the unforgiving swamps of Louisiana on a tortuous journey North where he joined the Union Army.
There were seven bidders when the package was brought to market last week as the signature film in the Virtual Cannes market. Bidding zoomed past $75 million, and the field got down to Warner Bros and Apple, and the latter finally closed the deal last night. Sources said the commitment comes in at $105 million net, but when backend gross buyouts are factored in, deal will exceed $120 million when all is said and done. Collage is being paid mid seven figures for his script.

Rudy Behlmer, author of “Memo From David O. Selznick” and nearly a dozen other film-history books, died Friday at his home in Studio City, Calif. He was 92.
Behlmer was among the most widely respected historians of Golden Age Hollywood, in part because of his insistence upon researching “primary source material” and not relying on faulty memories or exaggerated press accounts of the time.
“Memo From David O. Selznick,” which Behlmer edited from thousands of Selznick’s private letters, telegrams and memoranda, was a best seller in 1972. Behlmer first interviewed the “Gone With the Wind” producer for a 1963 article for “Films in Review,” one of dozens of magazine pieces he wrote over the decades.
Other books followed: “Hollywood’s Hollywood: The Movies About the Movies”, “Inside Warner Bros. 1935-1951” (1985), “Behind the Scenes: The Making Of…” (1989) and “Memo from Darryl F. Zanuck” (1993).

According to a couple of reports out there, we’re about to see a lot more of Owen’s sister Megan Hunt in the upcoming season 14! However, she will look quite different from the Megan that we saw in a couple of the season 13 flashbacks. The reason for this is because the actress who played her Bridget Regan will not be able to continue the role due to some scheduling conflicts. She’s currently a series regular on TNT’s “The Last Ship.” So, that’s got her all tied up. Instead, we’re going to see current NBC “Timeless” actress Abigail Spencer (above right) fill the role. According to TV Line, Timeless isn’t scheduled to start filming until November 2017 so that gave her a little extra time to jump in and tackle this Megan Hunt role. According to what we were shown in the season 13 flashbacks, Megan Hunt...

“I feel like my career is just beginning.”
It’s a curious thing for Michael Vartan to say, and even he admits it’s an “odd” remark to make. At 48 years old, the actor maintains a healthy, youthful perspective about his life and career, the latter of which has spanned nearly three decades. Though he isn’t a household name, Vartan made a mark playing resident nice guys and men you’d want to take home to your parents, like CIA handler Michael Vaughn on Alias and the English teacher who fell in love with Drew Barrymore in Never Been Kissed.
“For the first part of my career, I’ve really been an insecure actor. I’ve really struggled to find ways to be good,” Vartan reflects over the phone one early February morning, graciously apologizing earlier for being under the weather. “As I get older, it’s not that I care less, but I really...

Now that you have had a few days to come down from the season finale of Gotham, you may have started wondering when you can own the home video release. Thankfully, Fox and Warner Bros. opted to not wait very long at all to announce that the complete second season will arrive on Blu-Ray on August 16. One would also expect a DVD release on that very date, but it remains unclear whether or not it will contain all of the featurettes included on its mighty Blu-Ray counterpart.
Speaking of featurettes, a full rundown can be found in the official press release, along with a thorough synopsis and cast details. We also have the front cover art to share with you, which bears what may be the coolest piece of promo art circulated for this past season.

It took guts for Pinkett Smith to call out the diversity whitewash at the Oscars. Even millionaires are not totally immune to Hollywood’s wrath
For all its stars, Hollywood is still a place of underappreciated and untapped talent, with actors waiting for a perfect storm to form overhead: the right role, at the right time, catching the right audience. And then, boom, they get long-overdue attention. It’s a common story, and now it applies to Jada Pinkett Smith, whom I’ve loved for a very long time.
Now 44, she is that cliche of a small woman: fun-sized (5ft!) and a human dynamo. She twinkles. I first saw her on A Different World, playing a college kid unafraid to hustle, and while she stayed on my radar through the 90s, it was in the unfairly overlooked Set It Off (1996) that she seared herself into my mind. As Stoney, a desperate and sort-of-reluctant bank robber,...

Well aloha, Jada Pinkett Smith! The cold winter months didn't stop Will Smith's leading lady from traveling to sunny Hawaii with her family for a relaxing vacation this Thanksgiving. While celebrating the holidays, the former Gotham and Hawthorne star headed outside to the ocean blue water where she happily showed off her bikini body. In a black plunging swimsuit with matching nail polish, the 44-year-old proved age is only a number when it comes to the bikini game. Willow Smith and Jaden Smith were also spotted hanging out on the island with their mama. This certainly isn't the first time the Magic Mike star has flaunted her impressive body along the coast. Chicago – Jada Pinkett Smith was doing it her way long before she became half of one of Hollywood’s biggest power couples. From modest beginnings, she worked her way up through the entertainment ranks on television, movies and in a metal band (more on that below). She portrays Rome in the sequel “Magic Mike Xxl.”
Jada Pinkett Smith was born in Baltimore, and was raised by her mother and grandmother. After graduating from the Baltimore School for the Arts – where she majored in dance and theatre – she moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. After some minor TV parts, she appeared as a regular on the series “A Different World.” She recently came back to TV, portraying the mysterious Fish Mooney on the dark comic book series called “Gotham.”

Easily the most anticipated new show of the season is Gotham, and if you weren’t able to attend the premiere party, here’s the next best thing.
It was clearly quite the party, and even if you aren’t among the hopefuls looking for this to become your next favorite show, it’s a series that absolutely has to be watched… for a while at least. Just based on the cast and crew, and any connection to Batman, you have to check out what they do with this thing. And, I have to say, Donal Logue. The End.
And again, even if you aren’t already sold, there’s something interesting about the idea of expanding on the early years, beyond just the flashback that sets Bruce Wayne in motion.
Well, you may as well check out what went on, and get all the more excited for next week’s premiere of the show.
