Lina Romay is a most appealing presence in the Soundie, Don't Get Around Much Anymore
This was another Soundie I watched on YouTube. In this one, Lina Romay-a stunning beauty of Mexican descent born in this country-is on the beach in her one-piece with other women of similar attire singing to a male in his trunks this classic song composed by Duke Ellington. The tune itself is about a woman who since her former boyfriend left her stopped going to dance clubs or parties. Of course, with her looks I'm sure Ms. Romay had no trouble getting dates! Quite visually appealing as well as entertaining this "music video" of the '40s that appeared in various Panorams (film jukeboxes) at restaurants, bars, and bus and train stations of the era. I especially loved it when Lina danced with her male watcher. So on that note, Don't Get Around Much Anymore is well worth seeking out.
