• The franchise business can be a funny one. Save for a few clips here and there, the world has yet to see — let alone weigh in on — the first film adaptation of Cassandra Clare’s The Mortal Instruments series, which opens on August 21, but the filmmakers are already gearing up to start shooting the second installment in October. Sigourney Weaver is in negotiations to play one of the few new roles that appear in City of Ashes, the second book in Clare’s series about a normal girl (played by Lily Collins) who finds out she’s actually a Shadowhunter,...

Kristen Wiig is currently in talks to reteam with her Anchorman: The Legend Continues co-star Will Ferrell in a new comedy called Welcome To Me. Ferrell is producing the film alongside Adam McKay whose wife Shira Piven (Fully Loaded) is set to direct the comedy.
The film seems like the perfect gig for Wiig. The story follows a "woman with dissociative personality disorder who wins the lottery and decides to spend her winnings on a cable access talk show about her life." The script for the film comes from former staff writer of the The Big Gay Sketch Show, Eliot Laurence.
Wiig is one of the funniest female comedic actresses working right now, and I hope she ends up doing this one. Thanks to the success of Silver Linings Playbook, I think we're going to start seeing a lot of these mental illness dramedies popping up.

Welcome To Me is an upcoming indie comedy which comes from Fully Loaded helmer Shira Piven. The project will be produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, but let’s be honest – the most important thing is that this comedy already has it’s female lead – Kristen Wiig! Wiig come on board to play a woman with dissociative personality disorder who… wins the lottery! But that’s just the beginning of this weird story… So, here’s the thing. Welcome To Me is written by Eliot Laurence, and at this moment (thanks to THR) we know that this comedy will center on: …a woman with dissociative personality... Though Anchorman: The Legend Continues is still in production, star Kristin Wiig is already set to work with writers Will Ferrell and Adam McKay again in Welcome To Me, an independent picture directed by Shira Piven (Fully Loaded) and written by Eliot Laurence (The Big Gay Sketch Show).
The film is about Wiig’s character spending her lottery winnings on a cable access talk show that revolves around her associative personality disorder. Silver Linings Playbook‘s success means that now’s the best time to get a project like this running, given the pairing of mental illness and comedy being as close to ‘in vogue’ as it’ll ever be.
Wiig’s success in Hollywood since starring in Paul Feig’s Bridesmaids has been something to behold, and has seen her land roles in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Despicable Me 2, Girl Most Likely, The Skeleton Twins, How To Train Your Dragon 2...

Kristen Wiig is playing the romantic interest to Steve Carell's character in the upcoming Anchorman: The Legend Continues, but it seems that the Bridesmaids star really hit it off with Will Ferrell on the set of the new comedy - to the point where they've already lined up a new project to do together. Wiig is now in talks to reateam with the Step Brothers star in the upcoming indie Welcome To Me, which is also set to be produced by Ferrell and Anchorman director Adam McKay through their Gary Sanchez Productions label. Set to be directed by hira Piven, who directed the 2011 comedy Fully Loaded, the new movie is about a woman with dissociative personality disorder - a.k.a. split personalities - who wins the lottery and uses the money to fund a cable access show about her life. The Hollywood Reporter, which broker the story, says...

When he isn't writing or directing, the continually busy and multitasking Adam McKay is producing, and this year alone has seen his hands on a number of films including "The Campaign," "The Dictator," "Casa De Mi Padre," "Bachelorette" and "Tim And Eric's Billion Dollar Movie." They all range from big studio summer movies to smaller scale indies, but none of those are as intimate or personal as "Fully Loaded." McKay teamed with Jeremy Piven to executive produce the picture, and as it hits VOD this week, we chatted with the filmmaker about what drew him to the project. Written by and starring Paula Killen and Lisa Orkin (who based it on their play from Uprights Citizens Brigade), and directed by Shira Piven, "Fully Loaded" chronicles one night on the town with two single moms, whose journey for a hook up finds them comedically reflecting on their lives, past relationships, children and more.

If you look across Adam McKay's filmography, you'll see that his comedy usually comes in pairs: Ricky Bobby and Cal Naughton in "Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby"; Allen and Terry in "The Other Guys" and hell, even Ron and Baxter" in "Anchorman." And even his latest producing venture on "Fully Loaded" centers on a pair, this time a couple of single Moms (Paula Killen and Lisa Orkin) whose one-night-on-the-town journey for a hook up finds them comedically reflecting on their lives, past relationships, children and more. We chatted yesterday with McKay, and asked him about another one of his famed comic pairs, Brendan and Dale from "Step Brothers," and if we'll ever get a chance to see them on the big screen again. In fact, we nearly did. McKay and Ferrell were all ready to go on the followup to their 2008 hit, when the newsroom came calling.

To say that Adam McKay is busy would be an understatement. The writer/producer/director has about a half dozen various projects on the go, and when we caught up with him this afternoon, he was in the midst of doing interviews for dark indie comedy "Fully Loaded," which he executive produced. Directed by Shira Piven, and written by and starring Paula Killen and Lisa Orkin (who based it on their play from Uprights Citizens Brigade), the film chronicles one night on the town with two single Moms, whose journey for a hook up finds them comedically reflecting on their lives, past relationships, children and more. And course, no night out is complete with a mix to go with it, and "Fully Loaded" boasts an intriguing selection of indie tunes, kicking things off with Los Campesinos! infectious "You! Me! Dancing!" And for anyone who has followed McKay over the years,...

Those eagerly awaiting the return of San Diego’s finest news team (Ron Burgundy and his Channel 4 gang, in case you weren’t aware) were no doubt gladdened in the cardiac region to read our interview with Achorman 2 co-writer/director Adam McKay back in April. Now McKay, out doing the press rounds for Fully Loaded, a film he’s produced, has opened up a little more about the sequel to The Playlist.Back in the misty depths of its long, troubled gestation, there had been some talk of staging an Anchorman sequel as a Broadway musical before it hits screens. But while that won’t be happening, McKay says the film will likely feature Will Ferrell and the cast breaking into song."The music sequences we have done – we did Afternoon Delight' in Anchorman, Adam Scott and his family singing Sweet Child O' Mine in Step Brothers, we did...
