After a night of heavy drinking, young lovers Carla and Aaron quarrel about who did what and why back at the bar. After a verbally-violent tirade Carla doesn't quite make it home, and wakes up on the street after having passed out. Aaron feigns apathy (badly) for his missing girlfriend. After sending his roommate Denny out searching for her and coming up empty, he embarks on another bender to drown his sorrows and forget about his lost love. Meanwhile, Carla isn't so remorseful; without missing a step she seems to be embarking on a seemingly-new career path. She makes friends quickly and sets up shop at the local motel. After she meets motel handyman James, it looks like she will never reunite with Aaron. Carla just can't seem to shake the habit of making spontaneous decisions without thinking them through--a character flaw that may cost her new love as well. Or could it be the one thing that does bring Aaron and Carla back together? Yes, but not in the way either expects.
