[Batman appears in front of Holmes and Watson]
Dr. Watson : A demon!
Sherlock Holmes : He's a hero, it's obvious by the bright blue and yellow in his costume. The mask means he must be well-known, perhaps a wealthy entrepreneur with ample free time. Square jaw indicates strong lineage, perhaps a doctor's son. And the bat motif, most surely inspired by some childhood trauma. The Masked Bat, perhaps?
Batman : Actually, it's Batman.
-
Sherlock Holmes : Before you depart, I must know: how did you really deduce my identity?
Batman : Everyone knows who you are. You're the world's greatest detective.
-
Batman : Sherlock Holmes, I presume?
Sherlock Holmes : How did you deduce my identity so quickly?
Batman : The hat.
-
Dr. Watson : [after someone says that even a blind man could see that Jason Blood is a witch] Evidence does seem heavily stacked against Blood.
Sherlock Holmes : What did I tell you about being an imbecile?
Dr. Watson : To... stop?
Sherlock Holmes : Precisely.
-
Sherlock Holmes : Just as I surmised. The residue of red clay and fine wheat grain in the carriage's wheel tracks pointed right here.
[blocking a blow with a sword concealed in his cane]
Sherlock Holmes : Ha! You'll find my reflexes are as sharp as my mind, and my blade even sharper.
-
Sherlock Holmes : What use have you for human souls?
James Craddock : I need them because, unlike you, I have no intention of dying. Ever.
-
Dr. Watson : But, Holmes, are you certain it's not that Moriarty fellow?
Sherlock Holmes : Stop being an imbecile, Watson. Moriarty's weapon of choice is a unique air rifle assembled by a blind German mechanic. I fear they may be supernatural.
Dr. Watson : [hearing a woman scream and arriving on the scene] She's alive, but looks as though she's under some sort of spell.
Sherlock Holmes : Just like the others. Did any of you see the attacker?
[a witness professes the belief it was Jason Blood]
Sherlock Holmes : I'll thank you to leave the detective work to me, sir.
-
Sherlock Holmes : Blood writes with his left hand, but footprints at the first crime scene indicate that the culprit walked with a cane in his right hand. Clearly, Blood was trying to solve the case, and I think this potion and those chalk drawings may hold the answer we need.
-
Sherlock Holmes : Jason Blood has been accused of crimes he did not commit and summoned you to his aid.
Batman : Jason Blood? Where is he?
Dr. Watson : In a spot of trouble, I'd say.
-
Batman : We need to keep a low profile until we can learn more about these crimes. Holmes, how many victims so far?
Sherlock Holmes : Tonight makes eight total. All found in catatonic states. Clearly, the result of a supernatural attack.
Batman : Any leads?
Sherlock Holmes : [taking out a newspaper] "Seventh victim found on Dorset Street. Villain taunts authorities with note." What do you make of this, detective?
Batman : "The granite demon crumbles in your city's blood frame. When 10:00 she strikes, I'll never sleep again."
Sherlock Holmes : Stumped, I see. Well, luckily, my powers of deduction tell me that it's actually a veiled reference to the gargoyles at Mignola Chapel.
Batman : Actually, "granite demon" is an anagram for "Demon Etrigan", Blood's, uh... . alter ego. "Bloody frame" refers to framing Blood. And I'm sure 10:00 indicates the number of victims.
Jason Blood : [hearing a woman scream] That sounds like number nine.
-
Batman : The man in the carriage is Jim Craddock. In my time, he's a criminal named Gentleman Ghost.
Sherlock Holmes : Gentleman Jim, the notorious highwayman.
Batman : What I saw Craddock do with that powder horn was no mere robbery.
Jason Blood : [looking at one of the victims] On the contary, it was indeed robbery. The worst kind. In my library, we can search for reference on the horn you saw.
Batman : Watson, have your police force clear the streets. No one travels alone, understand?
[Watson salutes, and as Batman and Blood leave, Holmes turns to do so, as well]
Dr. Watson : Holmes, wait. You mustn't go off alone.
Sherlock Holmes : My dear Watson, if I'm to solve the case before this Batman, that's exactly what I must do.
