‘Shadow And Bone’, ‘Glamorous’ & ‘Agent Elvis’ Among 5 Series Canceled By Netflix Amid Strike Impact
Exclusive: Netflix will not be going forward with more seasons of live-action series Shadow and Bone and Glamorous and adult animated comedies Agent Elvis, Farzar and Captain Fall.
The decision was made a week after the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike and a month and a half after the end of the WGA work stoppage as networks and platforms continue to evaluate the impact from the strike-related seven-month production shutdown.
While there had been a slew of series cancellations and un-renewals by linear networks and streamers during and immediately after the strikes, Netflix had largely refrained from making cancellation decisions during the past 6½ months while announcing a number of renewals, including One Piece (S2), Ginny & Georgia (S3 and S4); The Lincoln Lawyer (S3), Xo, Kitty (S2), Heartstopper (S2 and S3), The Night Agent (S2 picked up on the eve of the WGA strike), The Diplomat (S2), Fubar (S2), Sweet Magnolias...

Is Paramount+ cleaning house?
It seems that every scripted series that doesn't have Taylor Sheridan's name attached is getting the pink slip.
The latest series to get canceled is Joe Pickett, which recently wrapped its sophomore run on the service.
We get it: The streaming bubble has burst.
Amid the SAG-AFTRA strike and coming off the WGA strike, some controversial decisions have been made across the whole breadth of the business.
But this latest cancellation from Paramount+ hurts, mainly because the series didn't waste a single scene.
Paramount+ recently caught heat when it promoted the season finale as the series finale before walking the footage back.
These things happen.
It happened with Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin on Max, which went on to get renewed, so maybe it was a mistake.
But it doesn't get away from the fact that we're losing a gem of a series that delivered on many fronts.

“Joe Pickett” has been canceled at Paramount+ after two seasons, Variety has learned.
The drama series was originally commissioned by Charter Communications’ Spectrum Originals in early 2021. The first season aired on that platform beginning in December 2021, with Spectrum announcing a second season order in February 2022.
However, Spectrum Originals head Katherine Pope was named head of Sony Pictures Television in July 2022, with Charter announcing it would be shutting down Spectrum Originals operations in August of that year. Paramount+ has the streaming rights to the series, as it is produced by Paramount Television Studios, with Season 2 airing on the streaming service beginning in June 2023. Both seasons will remain available on the service for the time being.
“Joe Pickett” followed the title character, a Wyoming game warden played by Michael Dorman, as he investigates crimes in and around the town of Saddlestring. The series is based on the Joe Pickett novels written by C.J. Box.

When Chris Eyre’s “Smoke Signals” won the audience prize in Sundance 25 years ago, the director thought the kudos would soon lead to a landslide of opportunities for Native talent. Amid a flourishing independent film scene, the road trip dramedy won acclaim and awards as the first feature written, directed and produced by Native filmmakers. But it took two decades, and a pivot to television, for Native voices to finally get a wider chance to be heard.
More than two decades later, Eyre is now an executive producer and director on AMC+’s Navajo noir series “Dark Winds,” based on the Tony Hillerman mystery novels. Longtime Hillerman fans Robert Redford and George R.R. Martin also serve as executive producers. “Dark Winds” premiered in 2022 as a wave of TV Westerns was proving massively popular, and yet, it’s very different from shows like “Yellowstone,” “Joe Pickett,” and “Justified” with its focus on a Native cast,...

In Joe Pickett season 2, the plot became more complex and intriguing compared to season 1. However, in my personal opinion, the season started with a dark and horrifying plot but lacked an interesting climax as a payoff. The social commentary was commendable, but the execution remained typical without any effort to make it unique. The season revolved around a series of murders in Saddlestring, targeting hunters from the town. Joe Pickett embarked on a solo investigation in the Bermuda Mountains and encountered the fierce and wild hunters, the Grimm brothers, Caleb and Clamish. During the investigation, a pattern emerged with the discovery of a casino chip near each murder scene, suggesting a connection between the killings. Meanwhile, an anti-hunting activist group led by Klamath Moore came into play, but eventually, the killer of the hunters was revealed to be Klamath’s wife, Shannon, who acted out of desperation.

In the ninth episode of Joe Pickett Season 2, Sheriff Barnum was revealed as a corrupt officer and murderer. The only evidence to prove this was Shannon’s cellphone with a voicemail from Marissa. But Barnum destroyed the evidence and threatened to harm Shannon. In order to defend Shannon and herself, Marybeth shot Barnum, and they all fled to the woods. Joe later joined them and got information from Hank Scarlett’s henchmen about a woman hiding in the woods. Joe could recall a woman who had tended his wounds after the Grimm Brothers had attacked him. Joe recognized the woman he saw in that hallucinating stage as Marissa Left Hand. In this final endgame of Joe Pickett season 2, Joe and Shannon are heading to the woods to find Marissa, bring her home, and expose Barnum’s true identity to the authorities.

It’s never a dull moment for Marybeth and Joe Pickett.
Joe Pickett Season 2 has found them relatively safe overall, but the real surprise came when Marybeth’s investigation rammed into Joe’s.
Once again, the family isn’t safe, and in this exclusive clip, it looks like things are going to get next-level desperate.
The official longline for the episode says that, in a desperate bid to set things right, Marybeth makes a decision that will change her life forever.
During Joe Pickett Season 2 Episode 8, Marybeth made a discovery that changed everything regardless of any decision she would make — Sheriff Barnum is a nuisance and a criminal.
Barnum had just made a decision to most likely off Shannon while taking her to jail.
At first, she thought he wanted her to make a run for it, and she’d be free as long as she never spoke of this...

In the previous episode of Joe Pickett Season 2, we came close to uncovering the truth behind the horrifying murders of hunters that had been occurring in the town for the past few weeks. Joe Pickett and his wife, Marybeth, thought they had already managed to identify the killer and ascertain the motive behind these killings. However, when Joe and his entire team confronted the suspect, Klamath Moore, it turned out that he was innocent. Tragically, he was killed at the hands of Barnum, raising significant suspicion about the sheriff, but Barnum claimed it was an accident. However, the true killer did emerge from the woods and target Randy Pope, who had been used as bait to capture the killer. The killer was revealed to be none other than Klamath’s wife, Shannon Moore, who had been a victim of the hunters’ group’s depravity several years ago. Shannon sought revenge...

Charter Communications is shutting down Spectrum Originals, the home of shows such as L.A.’s Finest and Joe Pickett, as the media company moves away from its original programming plans. As first reported by Deadline, the decision to shut down the premium cable channel comes as Charter’s former Head of Original Content, Katherine Pope, is leaving to become President of Sony Pictures Television Studios. A Spectrum representative told Deadline that it will be a gradual process as the company explores options for its various series in the coming weeks and months. Spectrum Originals launched in 2019 with the Bad Boys spinoff L.A.’s Finest starring Jessica Alba and Gabrielle Union, which NBC had passed on. Since then, the network has picked up shows such as the Mad About You revival, Paradise Lost, The Bite, and the neo-Western Joe Pickett, which has become Spectrum’s top-rated series and was recently renewed for a second season.
