The first day the producer dove on the wreck of the Regina was the anniversary of her sinking - a cold November day on Lake Huron. Essentially exploring a wreck that sank because it was subjected to the 'Winds of November' - yet, here was a camera crew taking underwater pictures at the same time of year.
Filming of the wreck was complicated by the desire to keep its location secret. Ultimately, however, other divers learned of the location by following the crew to the site. Sadly, priceless artifacts began to disappear shortly afterward.
In 1988, Death on the Inland Seas was nominated for two Emmys (Best Talent and Best Documentary) by the Detroit/Michigan Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. It won the local Emmy that year for Best Field Direction/Single Camera
