The The Langoliers episode of Wtf Happened to This Adaptation? was Written and Narrated by Andrew Hatfield, Edited by Mike Conway, Produced by Lance Vlcek and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian. Here is the text of Hatfield’s script:
Well, it’s time to let the King have his moment again. This is Stephen King’s second go around on the show and while Silver Bullet based on Cycle of the Werewolf is a minor cult classic, it’s not one of the bigger adaptations out of his overall catalogue. Today is going to an even deeper cut. While it seems that nearly everything has been adapted, there is a lot that has yet to be turned into a show, movie, or short film. Back in the 90s and early 2000s it felt like his made for TV miniseries were happening more frequently and had more hype to them,...

The ’90s are chock full of some great sci-fi horror films. Who can forget Event Horizon, The Lawnmower Man, Mimic or Deep Blue Sea…. ya know, the one where Samuel L. Jackson gets eaten by a shark? Anyways, let’s fast forward to the end of the decade, 1999 in particular. It was, and still is, considered to be the best year movies were released. In January, director John Bruno would bring us the film, Virus (watch it Here). A movie that makes us ask the question “Wtf Happened To This Horror Movie?”

In an upcoming video, we will be looking at the modern genre classic Vfw. I say genre because while my wife astutely pointed out that the drugged-up gang in Vfw kind of act like rage zombies and the movie has that great over the top gore and characters, its not really horror. Its gritty action like the movie that inspires it, Assault on Precinct 13. Genre encompasses multiple things like horror, exploitation, and any other type of movie that just has that feel to it. While today’s movie isn’t horror, though it does have situations that would be scary in real life, it is genre. It’s school-ploitation at its finest and has a pedigree both in front...

I had never heard of Onyx the Fortuitous before I started seeing reports about the upcoming movie Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls – and even then, I didn’t pay much attention to it because I figured something called Onyx the Fortuitous must be an animated children’s film. We’re so excited about Scream VI that we went a little crazy.
Now streaming exclusively on Screambox is Sssshhh, the incredibly rare Indian Scream remake in which a masked killer meets musical numbers.
In the 2003 film, “a serial killer is responsible for taking many lives including that of Malini and her boyfriend. The police are unable to comprehend especially when this killer leaves no evidence at every crime scene.” You can read all about Sssshhh right here.
But wait! There’s more!
Screambox is now the home of two other Bollywood remakes: Naina, a supernatural horror inspired by The Eye, and Neighbours, a vampire tale that borrows from Fright Night!
In Naina, after receiving an eye transplant, a young woman realizes that she can see into the supernatural world.
As for Neighbours, when a horror-obsessed teenager learns that her next-door neighbours are vampires, no one will believe her!

The '80s was a pretty great time to be an undead bloodsucker. Writers and directors were clearly enjoying themselves playing with the old tropes; Tony Scott's "The Hunger" dispensed with fangs altogether and toyed with the idea of vampire immortality before turning into softcore erotica; Nicolas Cage lost the plot and munched live cockroaches in "Vampire's Kiss;" Kathryn Bigelow brought a Western theme to her mean and moody "Near Dark;" and "Lifeforce" even gave us vampires from outer space. To top it all off, Count Dracula teamed up with other classic Universal monsters like the Wolf Man and the Mummy in "The Monster Squad." These movies left behind the spooky castles and misty graveyards of Bela Lugosi and Christopher Lee's iconic iterations of Bram Stoker's most famous creation, bringing the vampire myth right into the modern world.

As Gerard Johnstone's "M3GAN" continues to slay audiences at the box office, fans of the killer doll movie have compared it to the horror genre's most notorious deadly toy (and slasher icon) Chucky, who has been tiptoe-ing into our collective nightmares since the first "Child's Play" movie in 1988. Other than Chucky's lack of song-and-dance skills, the major difference between him and the blonde artificial intelligence prototype is that she is the product of tech advancement gone awry, whereas the Good Guy doll's origins lie in supernatural soul-swapping (and perhaps more). It wasn't always that way, though. In fact, Don Mancini's initial story had no killer's soul to swap at all.
In Jake Rossen's oral history of the film for Mental Floss, both director Tom Holland ("Fright Night") and writer Mancini confirm that the original story utilized the doll not as a host for a killer's rotten soul but,...

Tom Hanks brought David S. Pumpkins back to scare — or more likely, confuse — more haunted house attendees during the latest episode of Saturday Night Live.
Jack Harlow, host of the Oct. 29 episode, joined SNL castmembers Ego Nwodim and Andrew Dismukes for a trip through the Cellblock 666 attraction as part of the skit’s faux Fright Night Halloween event.
Like David S. Pumpkins’ previous appearances, guests are eager to be scared with the help of some of horror’s most familiar faces. That includes Freddy Kruger, Michael Myers, the haunted doll Annabelle and It‘s Pennywise. But tucked in among them is Hanks’ bright orange and gleefully goofy Pumpkins, who appears again and again to the bewildered trio.
When Dismukes’ character initially asks who he is, of course, Pumpkins responds in his usual manner: “I’m David Pumpkins, man.” But when pressed on what...

There will be some changes when Season 8 of Fox’s The Masked Singer premieres later this month.
Under the new format announced today by the network, each episode of the celebrity singing contest will feature the usual knock-out performances by elaborately disguised celebrities, but for the first time, only one contestant will move on from each episode. The studio audience will vote for their favorite, and the singer with the least amount of votes will unmask mid-show. That celebrity will get a front row seat in the Masked Singer VIP section to watch the rest of the competition and the second unmasking, and for the first time, won’t have to to wait to find out what celebrity they were competing against.

“The Masked Singer” is changing things up for Season 8. The Fox competition series will have a new format, and only one contestant is going to make it through each episode.
As we know, each episode generally features performances from several of the masked celebrities. This season, only one will move on at the end of the episode (as opposed to only one being eliminated in years past).
In order to add a second elimination, an audience voting element is also being introduced. Halfway through the show, the studio audience will vote for their favorite performance so far, and the contestant with the least amount of votes will be sent home. But, they’ll get to stick around to watch the rest of the competition — and even the second unmasking!

I became quite obsessed with the film and tried to make all my friends come over to watch it because I wanted to share all the amazing trivia about how they made the special effects. This sparked the idea that perhaps I could make my own films and so my first effort was to remake the entirety of the Phantom Menace in my bedroom with myself and my friends miming along...

David Dastmalchian is the face of interesting characters. Although it has been nearly 14 years since he debuted as one of Joker’s gang members in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, the performance remains chilling. Since then, he has continued making a mark as a Wombat in Ant-Man, a Mentat in Dune, and a Polka-Dot Man in The Suicide Squad, amongst other roles. Dastmalchian is likewise the face behind an interesting character: Late-night horror hostess and supernatural warrior Jerri Bartman, who returns for another adventure in the new Dark Horse comic, Count Crowley: Amateur Monster Hunter.
Created by Dastmalchian, with art by Lukas Ketner, coloring by Lauren Affe, and lettering by Frank Cvetkovic, the new volume, available March 23, picks up immediately following 2019’s Reluctant Monster Hunter. Set in 1983 Missouri, the story follows Jerri, an alcoholic TV reporter forced to return to her small hometown to work for her family-run local station.

Amanda Bearse (Married…with Children) has found one of the first roles of a newly rebooted screen career in Universal Pictures’ history-making rom-com Bros—the first studio film to feature an entirely LGBTQ+ principal cast, with queer actors taking on queer roles, as well as all heterosexual characters.
She joins an all-star ensemble led by Billy Eichner and Luke Macfarlane, which also includes Ts Madison, Miss Lawrence, Symone, Guillermo Diaz and Guy Branum.
Bros is billed as a smart, swoony and heartfelt comedy about two gay men—played by Eichner and Macfarlane—maybe, possibly, probably, stumbling towards love…Maybe. They’re both very busy.
Bearse will portray the mother of Macfarlane’s character.
Nicholas Stoller is directing from a script he co-wrote with Eichner. Judd Apatow is producing alongside Stoller and Josh Church, with Eichner exec producing. Universal’s Senior EVP of Production Erik Baiers will oversee the project on behalf of the studio.

What would spooky season be without the Sanderson Sisters? Thanks to Freeform, we’ll never have to find out.
The cable network’s annual 31 Nights of Halloween lineup features 14 showings of Hocus Pocus, the beloved 1993 film starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy — and while that may seem like a lot, keep in mind that Freeform aired the Walt Disney flick a whopping 30 (!) times in 2019. (Of course, you can watch Hocus Pocus as many times as you’d like with a subscription to Disney+, but who are we to suggest a commercial-free viewing experience?)

One thing about Hollywood I could never stomach: all the damn remakes.
Okay, so that's not totally true, but it was too good of an opportunity to rephrase that great line from "The Lost Boys" in a story about a pending remake of that very movie.
Truth is that there's a surprisingly solid trend of strong genre remakes. "The Blob," "The Fly," and John Carpenter's "The Thing" were all remakes that eclipsed the originals, and we even got a damn good remake of another solid '80s vampire flick a while back when Craig Gillespie remade "Fright Night" with Anton Yelchin and Colin Farrell. Happy Thursday, everyone! On tap today is a brand new list of streaming recommendations that I have put together as part of our ongoing Indie Horror Month celebration. This time, we’re showcasing five fantastic films that are available to stream on the Arrow player and are well worth your time. One note: Clapboard Jungle doesn’t arrive on Arrow until the 19th, but I thought it was a perfect title to include here, so you just have to hang on a few days until you can finally check it out for yourself.
Read on for my Arrow indie horror recommendations and happy streaming!

2020 has not been an easy year on cinemagoers, in fact it has been the worst since some of the earlier days of the medium. Still, despite the disappointed sighs that have grown among audiences when hearing another much anticipated film has been delayed further, there has been some plucky films that have thrived at this time of panic. Many of these films have been ones which have solely enjoyed huge VOD success but Brett and Drew T. Pierce’s (known and credited collectively as The Pierce Brothers) horror film The Wretched, is a film which has indeed hit VOD but also cinemas, doing particularly well at select drive-ins Stateside, as it topped the box office six weekends running. The first since Avatar to do so (obviously with wildly different box office takings). And little wonder too, because The Wretched is a film perfect for a drive-in experience and a brilliant throwback horror flick.

Perhaps Universal’s most renowned contributions to cinema lie in their horror library. Frankenstein, Dracula, The Invisible Man, if you can name it they probably made it. But until now, that awesome catalogue was unavailable to view in one place. Sounds like the grousing of a spoilt millennial, I know. The fact is that we’ve all become accustomed to having content at our fingertips. Praise be then that a streaming service has today launched to fulfil that demand. Peacock brings Universal’s esteemed horror collection to the masses.
Unlike its rivals, the service has both a paid-for package and a free one (though you’ll have to contend with adverts). Why not take a look at all the horror films currently available for free, though? Trick question, as there’s no reason why not to. That’s why all the horror films currently available for free are listed below.

Chicago – There is such an unnerving quality to older dolls, which is why they lend themselves so perfectly to horror stories. There’s just an unsettling feeling when looking at their static expression, usually plastered with a permanent smile that gives me terrible flashbacks to when I worked retail.
Oddly enough, “Annabelle Comes Home” similarly elicits familiar feelings of terror but channels it through an 80’s horror homage.
Rating: 3.0/5.0
We’ve strayed far enough from the ground zero franchise, “The Conjuring”, to forget where it all even began. I can gladly say that it doesn’t matter how we were introduced to Annabelle, the plucky, demon-possessed doll that fuels our nightmares because we’re at a point where this side-franchise has been pardoned of its past sins. What started out as a prequel spin-off (“Annabelle”), which then got a much superior prequel of its own (“Annabelle: Creation”), has finally had...

It’s been 31 years since audiences first met Chucky, an adorable doll who has been possessed by the soul of a serial killer, and kids have been having nightmares ever since. It’s been a strange journey for Chucky through all the “Child’s Play” movies. He’s gone on road trips, gone to mental institutions, gone to Hollywood, and even gone to military school. And with Chucky going to an all-new franchise — even while the original series remains active — it’s time to take another look at all of the “Child’s Play” movies and see how they rank.
8. Child’s Play 3 (1991)
The worst “Child’s Play” movie (so far) has an idea so arbitrary it barely makes sense: What if a killer doll was at a teen military academy? That’s not much to work with, and although some of the kills are noteworthy — especially the paintball game...

Even by the standards of horror remakes, the new Child’s Play has been the subject of a fair amount of backlash, but one development that’s even got some detractors curious is the casting of Mark Hamill for the voice of Chucky. And as it turns out, even the director of the 1988 original approves of the choice.
Over the weekend, Hamill tweeted a video in which he announced his involvement in the upcoming reboot. The post was then shared by Child’s Play and Fright Night helmsman Tom Holland, who had just two words to offer on the matter:
“Smart move”
While some fans may have a hard time imagining anyone but Brad Dourif as the killer doll, it sounds like Holland is willing to give this fresh take on Chucky a chance.

When you think of ’80s horror cinema, you likely think of John Carpenter. From 1980's The Fog to 1988's They Live, Carpenter created movies that were as thought-provoking as they were horrifying, all the while showcasing practical effects that still stand the test of time. Colin Farrell is an interesting actor to discuss. It’s impossible to say with any confidence just exactly he chooses his roles. There’s no question the actor is talented, but his IMDb is just all over the place. There are clear highlights, such as “In Bruges,” “Minority Report,” and recent films like “Widows,” “The Lobster,” and “The Killing of a Sacred Deer.” But those are offset by “Daredevil,” “Fright Night,” “Total Recall,” and “Winter’s Tale.” So, basically, when Farrell is good, he’s really good.

"A lot of people told me that it poisoned their childhood." An extended official trailer has debuted for the doc Pennywise: The Story of It, another in the series of cinema history docs made by Chris Griffiths (including his RoboCop doc and Fright Night docs previously). The original It "movie" was actually a mini-series produced for ABC that aired on TV back in late 1990, receiving around 30 million views in its initial debut. The horror "film" has gone on to become a cult classic, thanks to Tim Curry's incredible freaky performance as the creepy clown known as Pennywise, and this documentary looks at its legacy. It also delves into the production, featuring tons of never-before-seen photos & behind-the-scenes footage, plus interviews with the entire cast and crew and much more.
