The series originally planned to undertake a storyline that would start in Season 8 where Tammy (and the show's viewers) would meet the character of her father, who was imprisoned when she was a child for killing her mother. However, this plan was abandoned when CBS told the cast and crew that there would be no 9th season (which is when the show had planned to cast the role of Tammy's father) and it was decided that having Tammy have a phone call with him--as an unheard voice cameo--in the S8 premiere was enough time spent on that matter.
Series finale of 'Mom'
The last line of the series was delivered by Beth Hall's Wendy to the AA group. She asked them "Would anyone else like to share?" and that was the final moment of the series finale before the closing credits.
MOM had three very abrupt finale/transition points in its final 2 seasons. The first came when the COVID-19 pandemic forced two episodes to be permanently scrapped in Season 7, leaving the 20th episode filmed as the unintended season finale. The second came when Anna Faris shocked the production and cast when she quit her role as Christy Plunkett before Season 8 began. The one was inflicted when CBS told the cast and crew that Season 8 would be the series' last one when only 6 more episodes were funded for production, forcing an abrupt resolution of several storylines before the series finale aired in May 2021.
The last words were actually WHO ELSE WOULD LIKE TO SHARE?
by Beth Hall as Wendy Harris to the AA group.
