Cole Ortiz : [Communicating through COMM] they took Bauer through an underground access behind the building: without aerial support, the best my people could do is track them to a drainage junction near avenue Y and Ocean, they must've had a vehicle standing by. Jack's cell phone was trashed at the scene
Brian Hastings : There has to be something on the site to help us ID the vehicle, tire treads, transmission fluid, oil residue?
Cole Ortiz : No, there's nothing sir. The trail's gone "cold"
Brian Hastings : Well, what about Walker? Did she get a look at these people?
Cole Ortiz : don't know sir. Frankly, she's pretty "messed up" right now
Brian Hastings : She murdered our contact: without Vladimir Laitanan, we have no lead to finding Bauer or the nuclear materials. You get her back to CTU for debriefing. I want to know what the hell happened
Brian Hastings : Yes sir, you might want to "consider" running a psychiatric evaluation on her when we arrive
Brian Hastings : Count on it
-
Brian Hastings : [Over the phone] we are "exhausting" all efforts to ascertain who took Bauer and where but until any progress is made, we just have to "hope" that Jack can find some way of "salvaging" the operation on his end
Rob Weiss : [Over the speakerphone as Taylor stands nearby] what makes you even think Bauer's still alive?
Brian Hastings : Only the fact that he wasn't killed at the point of abduction
President Allison Taylor : Mr. Hastings, I need a realistic assessment: what are the odds of finding and securing these nuclear weapons within the next few hours?
Brian Hastings : I can't answer that ma'am but the longer we're out of touch with Bauer, the less likely are our chances
President Allison Taylor : Alright Mr. Hastings, continue to coordinate with my Office, I want updates every thirty minutes
Brian Hastings : [Before Weiss hangs up] yes ma'am
-
Brian Hastings : [Briefing CTU staff] ok people, we've ID'd the suspect we have in custody: his name is Sergei Petrovich Bazhaev, a Ukrainian national sixty one years of age. Now we believe his the one who knows the location of the unsecured nuclear rods. Tactical is on their way to transport him back here for interrogation. Agent Ortiz will coordinate operations from here
-
President Allison Taylor : [During a conference call] Jack, President Taylor, you're on with Mr. Hastings and my Chief of Staff: CTU has been keeping me apprised of your involvement in this, I'm sorry it's taken this long for us to speak
Jack Bauer : I understand and please forgive me for getting straight to the point: the man we have in custody, Sergei Bazhaev is willing to cooperate. He said he will hand over the fuel rods in exchange for full immunity for him and his son
Rob Weiss : [Sarcastically] is that all? Why don't we give him a parade down Broadway too?
President Allison Taylor : Jack, you've been dealing with this man. Is there no other way to getting the location of the nuclear materials out of him?
Jack Bauer : His file said he did twelve years in a Russian labor camp: in the timeframe, we're not going to break him in time, I can see it in his eyes
President Allison Taylor : Mr. Hastings, what is your assessment?
Brian Hastings : Well, at first "brush", I'd say an immunity deal is premature but under the circumstances, I'll defer to Jack's judgment on this
President Allison Taylor : Gentlemen, I have a peace deal that's going to fall apart at any moment unless I can show President Hassan that we have stopped his brother from smuggling those fuel rods out of the country: make the deal Jack
Jack Bauer : Madam President, his going to want this in writing
President Allison Taylor : He'll get it but in the interest of expediency, put him on the phone with me
Jack Bauer : [Before walking over to Sergei] yes ma'am
Jack Bauer : [to Sergei] The President of the United States wants to talk to you
