With its list of new releases for June 2024, HBO streamer Max is finally headed back to Westeros.
The highlight of this month is undoubtedly the premiere of House of the Dragon season 2 on June 16. Episode 1 will drop on both HBO and Max that Sunday night at 9 p.m. Et. With the infamous Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons now underway, the next batch of episodes for this Game of Thrones prequel should be truly epic.
Arriving before House of the Dragon season 2 is another story of a fraught succession. Ren Faire, a documentary series about an ailing king retiring from the country’s largest renaissance festival, premieres on June 2. Other TV options this month include Julio Torres comedy Fantasmas on June 7 and docuseries One South: Portrait of a Psych Unit on June 25.

You ever notice how HBO’s releases tend to do the heavy lifting in HBO Max’s content library? That makes plenty of sense given that HBO has a track record of producing hits well before the streaming era even began. Well, a similar concept is now playing out over on Hulu. Like many monthly releases before it, Hulu’s list of new releases for August 2022 is highlighted by a whole bunch of FX TV shows.
The initiative once known as “FX on Hulu” is no more but that’s not stopping the cable network-turned quality TV brand from churning out some intriguing titles for the streaming world this month. It all starts early on with season 2 of the delightful comedy Reservation Dogs on Aug. 3. That is followed up by the docuseries Children of the Underground on Aug. 13, Little Demon on Aug. 26, and The Patient of Aug. 30. The most interesting of the bunch,...

With its list of new releases for January 2022, Amazon Prime Video is keeping things pretty simple. The streaming giant is rolling out a couple of original films, one big TV effort, and a whole host of library content, then calling it a day. And really, that’s all you need!
The two Amazon original films this month are of the family friendly variety. The Tender Bar, based on a memoir of the same name and directed by George Clooney, premieres on Jan. 7. This is followed on Jan. 14 by Hotel Transylvania: Transformania. This is the fourth installment in the animated Hotel Transylvania series, hammering home the fact that if you bring Adam Sandler and Genndy Tartakovsky aboard you project, things are gonna go pretty smoothly.

As the Hollywood blockbuster machine continues to dust itself off and release some early winter hits, Hulu is going in a bit of a different direction with its list of new releases for November 2021.
There are no big Hulu original films of note this month. Instead there’s a whole host of original series. The TV parade starts on Nov. 5 with the release of Animaniacs season 2. Also getting a second season this month is monarchal comedy The Great on Nov. 19. The most intriguing series, however, is animated Marvel comedy Marvel’s Hit Monkey. As its name so graciously implies, this is a show about a hit monkey…as in monkey assassin. Naturally the hit monkey is haunted by the ghost of Jason Sudeikis because it’s important that everything make sense.
Though Hulu doesn’t have any original movies in November, its list of library movie titles is quite vast.

Though the summer movie season is winding down (if it ever really started this year), Amazon Prime’s list of new releases for September 2021 is chock full of worthwhile movie options.
For starters, Amazon’s library movie titles are quite good this month. September 1 sees the arrivals of heavyweights such as Apollo 13, Arachnophobia, Romeo + Juliet, The Descent, and The Social Network. And if that weren’t enough, the streamer is trying out some intriguing original movies as well. Cinderella, a modern update on the classic fairy tale, premieres on September 3. That will be followed by “exotic thriller” The Voyeurs (Sept. 10), musical adaptation Everybody’s Talking About Jamie (Sept. 17), and French thriller The Mad Woman’s Ball (Sept. 17).

May isn’t quite summer yet but it is usually time that the networks start wrapping up their newest shows and preparing for a relatively fallow summer period. Since HBO isn’t a network, it has no such business model. But May sees the winding down of some HBO blockbusters all the same.
While there are some notable new releases for HBO in May 2020, the bigger story might be the things that are ending. Westworld concludes its third season on May 3 while new series Run wraps up on May 24. Thankfully the film losses in May aren’t too bad for HBO, unless the Agent Cody Banks saga drives a lot of traffic.
The most notable TV premiere in May is I Know This Much is True, a book adaptation starring Mark Ruffalo. This is a very bleak story coming along at a bleak time in history but perhaps those two things will cancel out.

As expected, the cast for the new Martin Lawrence film, Big Momma's House 3 is just about complete.
We hear that joining Lawrence and Brandon T Jackson are actors Faizon Love, Emily Rios, Portia Doubleday and Michelle Ang.
As we reported a couple of weeks ago, Jackson (of Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and the upcoming Lottery Ticket) joined the cast as Lawrence’s son and will also don the infamous fat suit. Jessica Lucas (of Cloverfield fame) also joined the cast in the third installment which is now titled Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son. So far, the actress who is noticeably absent from the casting is actress Nia Long who played Lawrence’s love interest in the previous films.
If you recall, the Big Momma’s House franchise is about an FBI agent who wears drag and goes undercover to crack certain cases.

"Rome" creator/executive Bruno Heller penned the script and show stars Kevin McKidd (Lucius Vorenus) and Ray Stevenson (Titus Pullo) will likely sign onto the movie, which picks up in Germany four years after the series ended. "Rome" aired from 2005-07 and took place during Ancient Rome, beginning with Caesar's invasion of Gaul and continuing with the rise of the first Emperor Augustus. The series centered on soldiers Pullo and Vorenus, who appeared to die at the end of the series. [EW]

The big momma will soon return to the big screen, as Regency is moving forward with "Big Momma's House 3," a sequel that will see Martin Lawrence reprise his role as undercover agent dressing up as an obese chick. I know... it really is the worst idea ever.
Anyway, Variety reports Brandon T. Jackson, who's on the screen in "Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief," is joining the project directed by John Whitesell ("Big Momma's House 2"). Matthew Fogel wrote the script, which Randi Mayem Singer revised.
The story? This time, Lawrence's character Malcolm takes his 17-year-old nephew on an undercover mission at an all-girls performing arts school after the youngster witnesses a murder. They both dress up as ladies, trying to find the killer in time before he strikes next.

Brandon T. Jackson is barely at the beginning of his acting career, but he's already been part of two fairly gigantic movies-- Tropic Thunder, in which he was the actual black guy Alpa Chino, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, in which (from what I hear) he played the token black friend. But apparently neither of these hits were enough to keep him away from Martin Lawrence's grasp. Variety reports that Jackson has joined the cast of Big Momma's House 3. Yes, that movie is still happening. Aren't you just thrilled? This time Big Momma (Lawrence, of course) and his nephew Trent (Jackson, presumably) must go undercover at an all-girls school after Trent witnesses a murder. But, of course, the murderers are hot on their tail. Doing the directing duties will be John Whitesell, who also directed the second film as well as Deck The Halls.

Big Momma is coming back, y'all, to complete the trilogy. And I for one am thrilled to death, and I'll tell you why: Because someone is going to motorboat that hag. And when they do, I know we've hit rock bottom. And then I can look forward to a future where nothing will ever be as bad as someone motorboating Big Momma's tit-tays! And you know with all the technological advancements we've made since Big Momma's House 2, that it's going to be a visceral, horrific, haunting (maybe even 3D!) experience.
And hell: At this point, Martin Lawrence's only success comes when he dresses up as an overweight older black woman. If he'd go ahead and get the sex-change surgery done, he'd spend a lot less time in the make-up chair. Plus, we'd get some added authenticity to that motorboating scene.
Word is, according to Variety, that the movie is backed and fully funded,...

As there weren't enough grief and torture in the world, Martin Lawrence has agreed to a third go-round in a fat suit as Variety reports that the "comedian" is moving forward with Big Momma's House 3. But this time Lawrence will also bring along Brandon T. Jackson (seen in Tropic Thunder, Percy Jackson) as a younger cross-dressing partner as the story revolves around FBI agent Malcolm Turner and his 17-year-old nephew, Trent, who go undercover at an all-girls performing arts school after Trent witnesses a murder. Posing as Big Momma and Charmaine, they must find the murderer before he finds them. I smell an Oscar! Apparently producers want to steer away from simply calling the film Big Momma's House 3. An easy way to do that would be not to make the film at all, but John Whitesell, who directed Big Momma's House 2, will be directing from newcomer Matthew...

John Whitesell ("Big Momma's House 2") will direct the film which begins shooting next month in Atlanta for an early 2011 release.

Martin Lawrence will come to the "Big Momma's House" franchise once again. The actor has signed on to reprise his signature role as FBI agent Malcolm Turner in "Big Momma's House 3", Variety has reported.
For the next film, Lawrence will be joined by Brandon T. Jackson who has just appeared in "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief". Jackson will play Turner's 17-year-old nephew named Trent. The two will go undercover at an all-girls performing arts school after Trent sees a murder. Posing as Big Momma and Charmaine, they must find the murderer before he comes after them.
"Big Momma's House 3" is planned to start production this April in Atlanta with the script provided by Matthew Fogel and Randi Mayem Singer. John Whitesell, who directed "Big Momma's House 2", will tackle the same job for the third film, which is produced by David T. Friendly. 20th Century Fox...

If you thought Norbit was enough to put a nail in the coffin of the famous-comedian-dressing-up-as-fat-lady genre, I'm sorry to report that you were oh so wrong. Fox and Regency have given the greenlight to Big Momma's House 3, which will begin filming this April. Joining star Martin Lawrence for the third installment is Brandon T. Jackson who I most feel sorry for in this ordeal. He went from starring in a whip-smart comedy like Tropic Thunder that poked fun at movies exactly like Big...

Against all laws of nature, Big Momma's House 3 keeps happening, though it probably won't be called that. Martin Lawrence is going to go back into rubbery drag for the third outing, and he'll be joined by Brandon T. Jackson of Tropic Thunder and Percy Jackson. Guess everyone's gotta eat, but why does it have to be a shit sandwich? This one will see "FBI agent Malcolm Turner (Lawrence) and his 17-year-old nephew, Trent (Jackson), go undercover at an all-girls performing arts school after Trent witnesses a murder. Posing as Big Momma and Charmaine, they must find the murderer before he finds them." The f ilm shoots in Atlanta soon; if I'm out for drinks sometime in the next month and come across the casts and crews of this and Hall Pass fighting in the streets, Anchorman style, I'll be so happy. [Variety] After the break, Sean Bean has his work...

In January, when John Whitesell was announced as the director of Big Momma’s House 3, we hoped against hope that it might somehow get derailed, that Martin Lawrence would suddenly develop an aversion to latex rubber. But now, with word that Tropic Thunder’s Brandon T Jackson has been cast in the film, it feels one step closer to dooming us all.Last seen in Percy Jackson And The Olympians, Jackson is joining the film for a plot that sounds like the bastard offspring of Fame and the last Big Momma’s outing: Lawrence's nephew Trent witnesses murder and must go undercover with his uncle (both of them in rubbery drag this time) at an all-girls performing arts school. Can they track down the killer before he finds them? Will you even have a firm grip on your sanity by the time the film ends?Whitesell will start filming in April in Atlanta,...

After stints as an undercover grandmother and an undercover nanny, FBI agent Malcom Turner (Martin Lawrence) adds "undercover housemother" to his resume in the upcoming Big Momma's House 3. An acting and plot stretch, for sure.
This detail comes courtesy of a recent casting notice. Apparently, Big Momma is hired by the Headmistress of the Atlanta Girls' School for the Arts. Why exactly the school needs an undercover housemother remains to be seen. There's a quick mention of Malcom trailing Russian mobsters, but are they working out of the school?
One thing is clear, though. Lawrence won't be the only one appearing in drag. Included in the casting notice, is this gem:
Note: Trent and Charmaine are the same character. Must be able to sing, dance, and rap.
It seems Malcom's stepson is all grown up and getting into trouble. Now a "17-year-old aspiring rapper," Trent witnesses a murder by...

An exciting-ish new prospect emerged on the development horizon Monday when Walden Media announced it had undertaken Gene, a new, buddy-comedy take on the classic tale of genies, lamps and the three life-changing wishes that follow. The producers slapped the requisite "log line under wraps" status on the pitch from Randi Mayem Singer, whose previously announced work on Big Momma's House 3 suggests she could use some help putting this new project together. Movieline is naturally more than happy to oblige with some casting and plot suggestions after the jump.

Walden Media has rubbed the lamp and picked up "Gene," a modern take on the classic genie story from writer Randi Mayem Singer. Jordan Kerner is producing via his Kerner Entertainment.
While Walden was keeping plot details tucked in the proverbial bottle, company CEO Michael Bostick said that "Randi's pitch combines originality, humor, heart and broad appeal that all ages can enjoy. It is everything Walden embraces with family comedies."
Kerner produced "Charlotte's Web" for Walden and Paramount and is in preproduction on "Smurfs" at Sony. While those projects are live action/CGI hybrids, "Gene" will be live action with "big fun effects."
Singer co-wrote "Mrs. Doubtfire" and created the 1999 TV series "Jack & Jill," starring Amanda Peet. The Icm-repped scribe also penned the upcoming Dwayne Johnson comedy "Tooth Fairy" and is now working on "Big Momma's House 3."...

The second sequel to "Big Momma's House" has been launched into development, with Randi Mayem Singer ("The Tooth Fairy," "Mrs. Doubtfire") tapped to write the script. Variety reports that New Regency/David Friendly are back for "Big Momma's House 3"; however, there's still the question of whether Martin Lawrence will return for a third time to cross-dress as an agent-in-disguise. The first and second of the "Big Momma's" movies raked in $174 million and $138 million, respectively, but the franchise might run into issues if Lawrence declines, a la Macaulay Culkin-less "Home Alone 3." On the other hand, both audiences and investors...

Another "Big Momma's House" movie is indeed in the work. Variety has recently come up with a story that 20th Century Fox has brought on board one of "Tooth Fairy" screenwriters, Randi Mayem Singer, to provide the script for the second sequel installment of the "Big Momma" series, "Big Momma's House 3".
It is still unclear what storyline this third movie will go with since the studio has kept the logline under tight wraps. No word on who will direct the project and on whether or not leading actor Martin Lawrence will reprise his Malcolm Turner character.
In late 2008, Friendly has opened up about the development of this project during the "Soul Men" press day in Beverly Hills. To IESB, he revealed that it was in its script writing stage. The producer of...
