The scene where Jerry Buss (John C. Reilly) dives into the pool is quoted from a scene in Boogie Nights (1997). Both scenes are set at a 1970s pool party, and both show John C. Reilly diving recklessly into a pool. Both dives are followed by an underwater closeup of the Reilly character privately expressing his frustration underwater.
Mark Landsberger (played by Austin Aaron) also never attended the Lakers' training camp (which happened during September of 1979), simply because at that time, he was still a player for the Chicago Bulls. Mark Landsberger only got traded to the Lakers mid-season, on February 13, 1980. Even more baffling, is that Landsberger was traded for Ollie Mack, whose name appears on the chalkboard alongside Landsberger, both playing for Team B during the team's first practice.
Adrian Dantley (played by Terence Davis) never attended the Lakers' training camp, in September 1979. He was traded for Spencer Haywood one day before training camp started, on September 14, 1979.
Jeanie suggests that the experience of attending a Laker game should be "something like the Hollywood Bowl, or the Oscars, the Playboy Club." This episode aired opposite the Oscars on March 27, 2022.
