The central premise of GW implicitly assured two major consequences for the success of the series. The first was the eventual exhaustion of script ideas and the eventual repetition of stories. The second was that the title character would monopolize each episode.

The former occurred at the end of S 3. By the middle of S 4 scripts jumped the shark, with the death of Jim and the Sam/Jim episodes. This carried on into S 5 with a 5-year jump in time, and the introduction of a "Cousin Oliver" character in the person of Aiden.

The latter put JLH and her then boyfriend, Jamie Kennedy, as the leads. Most series with ensemble casts spread the wealth around, be they dramas or comedies. Not with GW, The rest of the actors got the crumbs. Poor old Christoph Sanders was completely missing from 40% of the shows. Small wonder the show dissolved into nonsense and was cancelled due to poor ratings. It could not compete against "Law and Order."

This episode deals with a chain letter, which a ghost believed was responsible for her death and her mother's fatal injury. A little girl who is responsible for the letter, and shows up later. And a witch of sorts, Sally Stitch who, like so many other GW characters, disappears, never to be seen again.
