Mostly of interest to fans of the original film series.

I only learned about this short film when I was looking through Edward G. Robinson's filmography on IMDB. And, because there are no other reviews as of this time, I assume very few others know about it. As to WHY the studio made this short film, I'm uncertain and perhaps it was designed to help sell the movie to investors.

The first portion of the film is an overview of the basic set-up of "Planet of the Apes". It's told through paintings and narration (by Paul Frees). Following this, you see a scene from the film which was changed a bit but used in the actual movie. However, Dr Zeus (Edward G. Robinson), Cornelius (James Brolin) and Zira (Linda Harrison) are played by different actors AND the makeup is much more human-like...almost like characters from "The Island of Dr. Moreau".

It's hard to score this one as it really wasn't intended to be reviewed. But it is interesting and I'm glad someone preserved it.
