Pacing is still off
jp-20619 December 2021
Let's talk about the great things first. The crew of the Roci is tired and it showed. Holden looks awful. The war is taking its toll. Peaches is doing her things and I like her, she knows when to do the right thing. Amos is true to his character and he doesn't get enough screen time. Avasarala is always on target and commands the scene and Bobbie is awesome, we need much more of her.

I'm really eager to see what Drummer is up to. Like Avasarala, she commands the scene and does it well. Love her.

Now, for the concerns: The Naomi is going to cry drinking game continues unabated. I couldn't care less about her feelings at this point. Fast forward.

The dismal portrayal of Filip continues its downward spiral. His story is slowing down the progression of the season a LOT.

Marco will break into "Purple Rain" at any moment, he's right on target. I'm surprised he's not twirling a handlebar mustache while chewing the scenery. The new blonde woman that isn't afraid of Marco, yeah, whatever.

I can't believe there's only four episodes left in the season. They need to get moving and fast. The pacing is way, way off.

I can already see the complaints...
dwwow-4765417 December 2021
... it's got too much talking, ... it's too slow.

... character X is boring.

... character Y got too much screen time.

... needed more explosions.

... it's not as good as season 2.

... and so on.

But the reality is that this is faithful in all the right ways to the books, paced well and focusing on the things I care about; characters. It's all there, and like all seasons before it it is building towards something.

Patience; rewards are coming...

Only one question
bradyfo20 December 2021
My only query about this season so far is how are they going to use the story of the people on Planet #673 (or whatever it is) in Ring #-- and complete it within the next 4 episodes? It just doesn't seem possible at all.

Bobbie Draper is a badass.

The space warfare scenes in this show are thrilling. Episodes like this is what makes The Expanse one of the greatest sci-fi space opera show out there. I hope they find a way to continue telling this story after this season. Great entertainment.

Seems like the writers can when they want hard enough
Turanic20 December 2021
An overall decent episode, closer to the spirit of Season 1, these sort of episodes is what made expanse great. The action is here, a focus on interesting characters and a minimum amount of Naomi tears... Let's hope the rest of the season is like this....

So Many Parts
Hitchcoc22 December 2021
This transitional episode takes us to each entity and puts us where they are in the overall plot. This presents a problem for the last season, because a series like this eventually short changes many involved. I will throw my hopes to the writers to figure everything out.

The best episode of The Expanse since season 4
markschvetz17 December 2021
This episode had all of the elements of what makes The Expanse a great series. Great writing, tension, pace, a range of plot threads balanced perfectly, and it brought the story forward hugely, unlike most of season 5! It was so good to see Bobby back as a central part of the narrative too. A fantastic character criminally underused in the previous season. More episodes like this please.

Great Pacing so far

Warning: Spoilers
Book 6 was a bit too slow and bloated compared to most of the other books IMO. This season being shorter and sharper is a good thing. Remember that season three had two main plot points jammed into it, and it worked. Sometimes compressing the story down can make it hit harder and faster.

The protomolecule wasn't a part of this book and it definitely wasn't wrapped up in this book. Viewers expecting an end to the alien story line will need to read the books or wait for the adaptation.

Great entertainment

One of the finest episodes of this series. Skillful handling of characters by writers and actors as well, the story was definitively enthralling, we saw hitting dialogues and the action scene was superb. Every section of production made a fine job.

I don't understand why so many people refuse to enjoy this piece of work. It has its flaws, there are some bad patches in it, but this episode shows that it's still an excellent character-driven sci-fi drama. Let's hope for an appropriate ending - not an easy target.

Just a little bit better, but...
abysz-2302010 January 2022
Still too much crying and being sad or angry (mostly pointless). Kid acting was terrible (And whats that plot anw?). Naomi-Filip fight their best to be te most annoying character out there.

Sigh.

Will see next.

Suspense, action, and drama all in one episode
anthonypaull102919 December 2021
Action sequences were phenomenal in this episode. Realistic portrayal of space based combat and physics is so hard to pull off, and we mostly get to settle for giant ships shooting light rays at each other then exploding, or by seeing the impact of the fight from inside the bridge (e.g. Star trek). Absolutely not so with The Expanse. On top of that the characters who have been developed over 5 seasons are still written so well, motivations make sense, and it is just heart-warming to see Amos and Peaches relationship develop.

Chrisjen, Bobby, Amos, as usual just a pleasure to watch.

Starting a come back
mrdcarroll20 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The show has finally gotten back to the level of quality from season 3 Not sure about the side quest with the alien dog type creature, are they setting up future seasons outside Amazon or a spin off series?

Naomi still needs to be written out/killed off, she is more dram than asset at this point.

With the actions of Marco this episode to free his son, seems like it should have created more of a rift with the belter station authorities/rulership, but it is glossed over and forgotten almost instantly.

Did the writers and director just given up since they know the season is only 6 episodes long and is the final season.

After the bore-fest of last season I am struggling to watch this truncated season.

What's with the reference to the Proto molecule, if this is the last season and here are only 6 episodes? It does not seem to be conducive of wrapping up existing plot lines and story arcs

Amos and Drummer are still the two best characters and gave outstanding performances.

sefantonis23 December 2021
Watching this series from start and still believe is one of the best sci-fi out there, but i feel is dragging a lot the last 2 seasons , why still inaro? When you have alien worlds and artifacts to explore, pls make it on point again, pls pls, who cares about Philip talking 2 times on camera about his friend and wastes time... and inaro blah blah , get to action and mystery and be a bit more fast be on point like the first seasons.

I liked this episode because. . .
CreeCart22 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Because of several parts, but my favorite was when the reporter tells Avasarala, "Wow. You give a really good guilt trip." and Avasarala responds, "I practice a lot when I'm alone." I could see her standing in front of her mirror in her room or bathroom practicing out what to say to one person or another and hear her one sided conversation. Hahaha.

Best SciFi of the decade
lmagrisso6 January 2022
And this episode is another prove. It is not perfect with the overly cheesy moments and inaros Jr doing puppy eyes. But nothing else out there comes even close to the quality of story and presentation.

Hope they keep the standard at this level until the end of the season.

Great episode, epic as ever

Writing is the best it's ever been, visuals and cinematography too. The plot is thickening and the tension is rising. A small victory for Earth will not fool me, things will go t*ts up really soon, you can feel it creeping up. I am so freaking excited, this is great.

Fast paced and well made
85122214 November 2022
Greetings from Lithuania.

"Azure Dragon", 2nd episode of season 6 was well made and well-paced episode. Action scene was done good. I liked how fast paced this episode was, moved a story forward. With only 4 episodes left, I'm involved into how it will end. But on the other hand, I feel that only 4 episodes won't tell a big story here - most likely it will only wrap up "the villain" quest so to speak.

Nevertheless, first two episodes of season 6 was an improvement over lackluster season 5 in my opinion. This is one is moving way faster while staying mostly involving and entertaining. Will definitely watch remaining episodes.

Only because something is progressing
mi_imdb_account23 December 2021
After the intrigue, mystery & double tales of earlier seasons, ep 6/2 just seemed too neat. I hope to be red herringed, but it has all the signs & momentum of the writers assembling the parameters for a final showdown, probably ep 6/5 so there can be a wind-down final episode.

Still a visual treat, respectful of physics, but it seems more & more like StarTrek discovery wth Naomi=Burnham , with all the angst and sideplots.

But let's hope for a satisfying crisis resolution that's got some surprises in store. Too much to ask?

Too focus on feelings and again few events
lahilaastravnar27 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Fortunately more action than the previous episode.

A long psychological session for Marco Inaros realize his feelings for the son ... The action sequence with Mao and Bobby outside the Dragon is so confused that I needed the Amos explanation in the infirmary to understand it.

A lot of words: too few things happen in 45' and all are explained to spectators.

Overloaded focus on character feelings, like in a psychiatrist therapy.

Meh.
saner_place20 December 2021
Pretty disappointed.

Not sure what I was expecting but this definitely was not it.

Marcos, Filip, Naomi...... Just awful. Waste of screen time.

BTW, When did 'acting' become only either being indignant/angry or looking sad? Seems the only thing the main cast (except Peaches and Amos) can manage.

Make a spin off with Peaches and Amos and forget the rest.

Also, only four episodes left to wrap things up? Can't see any decent closure coming in the roughly 160 minutes they have left, as I expect at least 20 minutes each of Naomi being sad, Marcos being awful and Filip being pointless.

Expecting a sad and unfulfilling end to what I think started as an interesting and different show. Such potential, wasted.

Suspense slightly lower and almost a filler episode
namob-4367317 December 2021
This is probably the lowest ranking episode of The Expanse for me. A 7/10 is the lowest out of 62 episodes? Yes, that is how great this show is. The reason for this "disastrous" score is what I mention in the headline.

This show have no filler episodes, no episodes of transports or side quests, which is one of the many reasons this show is so great. But this actually felt like one. They are on a mission to get a thing to rely information to move the plot forward, but it the feeling I got lacked suspense and that normal thriller creepy feel this show always have was almost gone. All the rest is there, the acting, the music, everything is still amazing except this felt like an episode that could have been 5min - everything that happen in this episode could have easily been summarised in a few minutes.

My main objection with both the last season and this season is however Marco and his crew. None of them feel smart, menacing, nor acted to perfection as all other fractions and people. And the son, Filip, is acted by someone that cannot act at all.

This is still the best scify show of all time, and this was still a great episode, but I would feel weird if I also did not point out the negatives. I hope this was the last episode of this kind and that we move on. The show is almost at an end, time to get to it.

What happened?!
karlsson-per5 March 2022
The Expanse went from awesome to overacting clean "actors" and children along with 90's special effects. The unique cultures of the solar system have slowly dissipated ro a point where it's now just fake tattoos and american accents in all but the rarest occasions.

It's bad.

Too much and not enough
nemesis-8828 February 2022
This season was cut down to just six episodes. Hey, come on, it's every rich human's civil right to have a personal space program and cut corners in their business to "win" more money for their dream. But the way even that tiny space is utilized is nothing short of appalling. Out of every ~47 minutes, we get 1-2 minutes of "Previously on" and THREE minutes of end titles. Okay, guess we need to list every person who brought burgers to the set... and his family. But then another blow - a HUGE segment on events on "Laconia" that nobody cares about. It's the last season of this show, so why waste screen time on that sidequell? As a result the whole Inaros saga is squeezed into a rushed jog. Quick, quick, quick! Squeeze in as much as you can into each episode. Everything everyone worked so hard for five seasons is forgotten and now it's just "effective management". It's become a bad tradition of modern TV shows to screw up the last season. Lost, Game of Thrones, now Expanse.

What the hell was this?
narcis-4883817 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Each short ep of this short season is cut even shorter by opening/end credits, recaps and Laconia side story.

Roci can now fly/decelerate backwards, via main drive, which is pulling them backwards, with no need to flip and decelerate, so that slower, falling behind ship, can "catch up"(watch positions of ships, their trajectories, and Roci's approach after EMP had been deployed), other than that what looks like a JOKE, cause what should've been shown as the only physically possible flip during those 2sec got cut out for some reason, physics of the jump was rather accurate, and very different to dreadful Naomi's false physics of 2nd half of S5, maybe that's why she stopped, cause she realized that there's no much of fake physics here.. Overall, this ep rushed desperate to possibly make some room for the rest of the season to be even more rushed, cause it can fit 4hrs only if rushed..

Six short eps will just not work, ever.., and so good eps like 6x01 and 6x02 will both end up as wasted screen time, or so it seems.

I hope I'm wrong.
