- Quotes
The Watcher: So many stories spawn from a choice. But Kahhori's victory wasn't because she merely chose the right path. No, it was her conviction, because she remained true to her course, unwavering in the face of both devastation and miracles alike. Such resolve is often what burns brightest. What elevates an individual to something more. And perhaps it's why heroes very seldom stop after their first victory.

An anomaly in S2
I'm pretty happy with S2 of What If. It felt like a return to the good ole days of the MCU where they were only concerned about telling good stories and developing good characters. There was pretty much none of the agenda-pushing that the more recent MCU products had.
But this episode was different. This episode had a blatant Mary Sue female lead (who became the most powerful of the superpowered tribe had complete mastery of her powers in less than a day) and a very exaggerated division between the bad guys (Spanish colonizers depicted in the most evil way possible) vs. The oppressed indigenous population (native Americans depicted as peaceful, harmless people).
That's very different from the rest of the S2 episodes where characters were complex and storylines were a lot more morally grey. But most of all, this episode didn't really have anything to do with the MCU. It's pretty much a standalone story with an extremely tenuous tie-in to the Tesseract.
There was also zero tension to the story since the good guys were extremely overpowered compared to the bad guys and most of the action scenes were just about the good guys laying the smack down on the bad guys.
In short you have to wonder why exactly they'd spend the budget and effort to make this episode in a Marvel show. Well the answer is simple: to virtue signal.
