[hands over shell]
Bella : and I thought... I thought maybe you'd like it.
Will : [it's big and ancient-looking] Wow.
Bella : I know. I've never seen anything like it.
Will : Where did you get this?
Bella : Can you keep a secret? I got it from the octopuses' garden.
[she nods, he nods, looks at her intensely]
Bella : It's a joke.
Will : Oh, all right.
[looks at shell]
Will : It's... it's amazing. It's really amazing.
[she snickers, he hands the shell back]
Bella : Oh, no! No, I want you to have it.
Will : Are you... sure?
Bella : [smiles] Yeah, yeah, add it to your collection.
[goes off]
Will : Thanks.
[calling after her:]
Will : Hey, why don't you come by my place later?
Bella : What for?
Will : We can talk.
Bella : What about?
[smiles]
Will : This.
[holds up shell]
Will : Your singing. That okay?
Bella : Yeah. That should be fine.
Will : Great. Say five PM?
Bella : It's a date.

Will : [at laptop] Hey, check this out! I looked it up on the Net, and that shell is rare. Really rare. It says here it's only found in the deepest parts of the ocean.
[taps computer key]
Will : Where exactly did you find it?
Bella : Told you. The octopuses' garden.
Will : Oh, really? Where?
Bella : It... it was washed up on the beach.
Will : You told me you found it when you were swimming.
Bella : Yeah, no, it was... it was on the shore as I was getting out of the water.
[nods]
Will : Where? Mako Island?
Bella : [shrugs] So what?
Will : I knew it! Anything strange is somehow connected to that place.
Bella : I don't know what you mean, but...
Will : You do. I think you know a lot more about that place than you say. You always seem to be going out there.
Bella : [defensively] Not always.
Will : [piercing look] You're hiding something.
Bella : I thought we were gonna talk about music, that's... what you said.
Will : I am... in a way.
Bella : [frowns] Sorry?
Will : Sometimes when we talk, I get the feeling that... there's something you're holding back. But when you sing, it's different. It's like the real you. Someone... honest.
Bella : Is this why you wanted me to come here?
Will : Yeah.
[nods]
Bella : Great.
[starts leaving]
Will : I just wanna know the real you.
Bella : Then stop questioning every little thing.
Will : Then how am I supposed...?

Will : Where did you have to go that you could swim through faster than you could walk?
Bella : Listen, I can't see you anymore.
Will : [shakes his head] Why?
Bella : I don't wanna talk about it.
Will : I can't make you talk to me. But I wish you would. There are... there are
[shakes his head]
Will : so many things about you that just... don't add up.
Bella : I think you're reading way too much into this.
Will : The only time I've ever seen you go into the water, you disappear. I know you're hiding something from me. Whatever it is, I'm not going to judge you. You can't run and hide forever. I know this big secret of yours has something to do with water.
[nods]
Bella : No.
[shakes her head]
Will : You're lying to me.
Bella : No!
[and then he takes a glass of water and throws it over her hands]
Bella : I trusted you!
[has to run off]

Cleo : For now.
Bella : No, he won't change his mind.
Rikki : [shakes her head] Never say never.
Bella : No, he... he really won't. He's a good guy. He's a really good guy.
[the other two smile]
Bella : Hey, Rikki, that sketch that you saw of me... What was it like?
Rikki : Oh, here we go!
Bella : Was it cute?
Rikki : [shakes her head] You are unbelievable!
[picks up pillow to throw at Bella]
