Slayer stunned fans earlier this year when they announced they’d be reuniting for three festival gigs this fall. Among those who were surprised was Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian, who says he messaged Slayer axeman Kerry King and told him, “Thanks for making me look like a liar.”
The timing of Slayer’s announcement was especially surprising considering that King had just unveiled details of his eponymous solo band, including a debut album, From Hell I Rise, set to arrive May 17th, and a summer tour supporting Mastodon and Lamb of God. Slayer’s reunion gigs will follow in the fall at Riot Fest, Louder Than Life, and Aftershock.

The festival shows will mark Slayer’s first concerts since wrapping up their farewell tour in late 2019.

Sacrilege is a film about paganism, from the United Kingdom. Focusing on four characters out for a girl's weekend, this quartet finds themselves involved in an ancient ritual. Now, an ancient goddess is exploiting their greatest fears. This title, from director David Creed (Facility 31), has already released in UK theatres. Now, there is the possibility of a wider release, with the an international poster available here. The central cast includes a few familiar names. This film fan has recently seen Tamaryn Payne in Small Town Folk (2007). Emily Wyatt (Mission of Honor), Naomi Willow (Bonded by Blood) and Emma Spurgin Hussey (A Werewolf in England) also centrally star in this indie horror feature. As well, the latest sales art shows the goddess from the film. The five-pointed star reveals some of the evil in store for viewers. And, one side of the figure's burnt flesh shows a darker side, in this well drawn graphic.

"Murder in the Front Row / Crowd begins to bang / And there's blood upon the stage / Bang your head against the stage / And metal takes its price / Bonded by blood."
These, the chorus lyrics to Exodus' title track from their debut album, "Bonded by Blood," are no longer just classic thrash metal lyrics; that first line is now the title of a killer, headbashing new documentary.
Murder in the Front Row: The San Francisco Area Thrash Metal Story is set to arrive digitally on Friday, April 24, in 4K or HD on most major domestic and international platforms.
And if you thought I only reviewed the film for the opportunity to talk metal for 1114 words, you'd be right ... initially.
Honestly, I was merely expecting the typical rockumentary -- usually pretty boring lip-flapping interviews, until the filmmakers decide to play metal thrashing mad tune-age or concert clips.

I have been a Blue Underground fanboy for quite a while now, as I have quite an impressive collection of their Blu-ray releases. This will be the first Blue Underground title that I have reviewed for the site, and what a title to start with. Blue Underground’s Blood Soaked Double Feature, is two Bruno Mattei films on Blu-ray for the price of one, and it’s quite an interesting pairing, I must say. The set consists of Hell of the Living Dead, following by Rats: Night of Terror. I have seen Hell of the Living Dead several times, but this marks the first time that I’ve seen Rats. If you want to follow the format given to us, you would watch Hell of the Living Dead first, but the truth of the matter is, these two films compliment each other so well that you could reverse it and...

From The Press Release
Highland Film Group has joined forces with Anchor Bay UK to introduce three genre titles to international buyers at the upcoming Marché du Film at Cannes. The slate of UK produced titles includes World War Dead, We Still Kill The Old Way, and Age Of Kill.
World War Dead stars Ray Panthaki (28 Days Later), Wendy Glenn (You’re Next) and Kacey Barnfield (Resident Evil) and is about a TV documentary team travelling to the Somme to uncover new mysteries in relation to World War I. However, what they unearth is far from a new story, but an army of the undead and a brand new war.

Blue Underground is putting out a double feature Blu-Ray presentation of some hilariously bad Italian horror films. Rats: Night of Terror and Bruno Mattei’s Hell of the Living Dead are gems for drinking party fodder. While some may be complaining that these films are hitting Blu-Ray when other films that are “more deserved” are still waiting in the high definition wings, I welcome this schlock into the realm. Blue Underground originally announced Hell of the Living Dead last September on their Facebook page so it isn’t too much of a surprise (except for the fact that it has taken almost a year to come out).

Corrected: UK financier and actor found not guilty of harassment.

Marciano was not present in court.
The judge declined the prosecution’s request for an adjournment and said there was not enough evidence to grant a restraining order against Coleman, who had both invested and appeared in a handful of Revolver features including Sket and Bonded By Blood.
Coleman was charged with harassment by police in January 2013 and the criminal prosection was brought by the Cps.

This episode of Girls takes us outside Brooklyn, which, as we Brooklynites know, usually spells T.R.O.U.B.L.E..... Lest I mention the similar New Yorker “99 problems” had by S.J. Pee every time she visited Aidan’s cabin in “Suffern,” New York. In “Video Games,” Hannah escorts Jessa to her parents’ house, which is located in some dusty, tree-filled hamlet called Manitou. (For those nerds among us, “manitou” is attributed to the Algonquian Indians and means “spirit” or “supernatural being.”)

On a rainy night in December 1995, three youngish gangsters called Tony Tucker, Patrick Tate and Craig Rolfe and plying their trade largely in Southend, were murdered in a Range Rover on a remote country lane near Rettendon in Essex. This drug-related gangland slaying has now become as staple a subject for the British cinema as Chicago's 1929 St Valentine's Day Massacre has been for Hollywood. Just as you've forgotten the explanation for the Rettendon killings, another one turns up with a slightly different plot and some new suspects. In 2000 we had Terry Winsor's Essex Boys where Sean Bean gets out of jail and pursues the grasses who put him away. Julian Gilbey's 2007 Rise of the Footsoldier traces the career of one Carlton Leach, a teenage West Ham football hooligan who becomes a major protection racketeer and ends up implicated in the Rettendon affair. Made in 2010, Sacha Bennett's Bonded by Blood...

Here’s the new trailer for UK comedy ‘Outside Bet’ which has a fantastic cast including Bob Hoskins, Jenny Agutter, Phil Davis, Calum McNab, Adam Deacon and Emily Atack. It’s directed by Sacha Bennett (Bonded by Blood) and is based on the novel ‘The Mumper’ written by Mark Baxter and Paolo Hewitt.
Outside Bet is a comedy drama following the journey of seven friends during the Fleet Street print workers’ strikes in the 1980s. While money, privatisation, unions and dramatic media evolution start to swirl, the life-long group of friends find themselves at the bad end of a redundancy pay-out and invest their savings into a racehorse – hoping that one final race can turn their fortunes around. The best true-crime films are usually written like tragedies. Goodfellas, Blow, Scarface, Stander; all Icarus tales about guys growing up on the fringes, becoming made men and then getting too greedy when the dirty money starts rolling in. Their rise is usually an entertaining whirlwind of glamor and excess while their downfall exposes the American dream as a breeding ground for ungentlemanly behavior. And of course, their death/capture is always depicted with a certain epic gravitas in order to give the characters mythic qualities. Say hello to my little friend! Yes, our criminals are as mythic as our heroes.
Unfortunately, while Bonded by Blood delivers on its promise of showing the true story of the "Essex Boys" in all its bloody foul-mouthed glory, there is no real joy in watching...

Jack Falls is the third film in a series of neo-noir crime thrillers (trilogy). This title releases in the United Kingdom March 21st, with a North American release unannounced. This is Paul Tanter's first time behind the lens and his adaptation of his own graphic novels is best in this third film. However, Jack Falls never rises above the cliches of the criminal underworld and the characters therein e.g. the femme fatale, the criminal overlord.
Jack, played by Simon Phillips, transitions into this third film with a near mortal bullet wound. Consort Natasha (Olivia Hallinan) saves his life, with some persistence. Soon, Jack is on the track of those who tried to end his life. The following is a shallow mystery,...

*Full disclosure: a DVD screener of this film was supplied by Revolver Entertainment.
Director/writer: Sacha Bennett.
Bonded by Blood is loosely based on a group murder carried out December, 1995. The three killed were Patrick Tate, Craig Rolfe and Tony Tucker, each a drug dealer. These villains have been immortalized unjustly in three films, which include: The Essex Boys (2000), Rise of the Foot Soldier (2007) and now Bonded by Blood (2011). Likely killed by Jack Whomes and Michael Steele, who remain in prison, Bonded by Blood covers a detestable subject (drug dealing), with little depth. Revolver Entertainment will distribute this title on DVD February 1st and this film is really only for those who enjoy watching gangland styled films, as there is no positive moral tale here.
Many may have heard the story of The Intercity Firm and their coke induced exploits, but for those who have not - here is a summary.

You might not recognise Tamer Hassan’s name, but you’ll most certainly recognise his face – particularly if you live in England. He’s a pretty prolific actor, generally starring in British gangster movies like “Layer Cake” and “The Business” but he’s also been in a few Hollywood blockbusters like “Batman Begins” and “Unleashed”. He’s returned to the U.K for his latest film – “Bonded by Blood” – to retell the true story of the infamous Essex Boys murders of 1995. The story has been tackled by other movies such as “Essex Boys” with Sean Bean, and was touched upon in “Rise of the Footsoldier”, but “Bonded by Blood” pertains to be the most accurate depiction of the events. The film is definitely worth a watch, and is full of impressive performances – including the always reliable Hassan. I was lucky enough to chat with Tamer while he was promoting the movie,...

The Last Exorcism (15)
(Daniel Stamm, 2010, Us) Patrick Fabian, Ashley Bell. 87 mins
There's an epic, gothic Dennis Wheatley-style horror struggling to get out of this curiously lightweight mockumentary, in which a jaded Louisiana evangelical priest (Fabian) takes on a local case of possession to prove that demons only exist in the mind. Stamm orchestrates some good old-fashioned in-camera shocks, but the handheld format is limiting, and what ought to be a truly horrific climax ends in a tired Blair Witch fizzle rather than a bang.
Certified Copy (12A)
(Abbas Kiarostami, 2010, Fr/It/UK) Juliette Binoche, William Shimell, 107 mins
Slightly wooden but deceptively memorable meta romance, in which a woman (Binoche) meets a man (Shimell) who may or may not be her husband.
Dinner For Schmucks
(12A) (Jay Roach, 2010, Us) Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Zach Galifianakis. 114 mins
Rudd is an aspiring exec who takes Carell to his boss's who-can-bring-the-biggest-nerd dinner party.

Can you Adam and Eve it? Bonded By Blood a new British gangster flick has only gone and piled into the hallowed movie chart for most uses of the word ‘fuck’ in the history of cinema – compiled by Wikipedia… so may need triple-checking.
The film features a prodigious amount of swearing and the F word is used three hundred and twelve times. That’s even more than a Scorsese gangster film! Including other swear words, it takes it up to four hundred and thirty-three. It may prove that swearing is big or clever, but it can be record-breaking!
Along with the age-old F word the film also introduces a rather harsh new noun into the English language. Ever called anybody a ‘s***-c**t’ before? By Monday morning all the school kids will be using it!
Here’s the current all-time list below:

Bonded By Blood details the drama surrounding the cold-blooded killings of Tony Tucker, Pat Tate and Craig Rolfe in the Essex countryside in the winter of 1995. Sasha Bennett’s new film takes a more stylised but truthful account of what happened to cause their deaths than two previous movies based on the same subject matter (Essex Boys and Rise of the Foot Soldier).
Starring Tamer Hassan, Keirston Waring, Vincent Regan and Terry Stone, Bonded By Blood is a new Brit gangster flick released today in cinemas nationwide.
FilmShaft caught up with director Sasha Bennett on the blower to discuss the complicated navigation of making a film based on true events and ones with repercussions to this very day.
FilmShaft: The film is very different in style to Essex Boys and Rise of the Foot Soldier.
Sasha Bennett: Yeah, it is. I wanted to make the film a bit more American in feel.

Listen up you muppets. Bonded By Blood is a film where women are slags, and the men are slags too. They’re also called s**t-c**ts and just plain old c**ts. It’s the kind of movie where Big Time Charlies are hooked on Charlie and like to display their maleness by stoving some c**t’s head in because he looked at ‘em funny or he mugged him off or somethink like that.
Yes, my friends. Bonded By Blood exists in the netherworld of the British gangster flick; a genre that exploded with mediocrity in the wake of Guy Ritchie’s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and hasn’t really been killed off.
Sasha Bennett’s movie, to be fair, isn’t filled with mockneys and focuses on the real life killings of three drug dealers in 1990s Essex. The rise of the mythological ‘Essex Man...

In 1995, three Essex gangsters were found shot to death in a Landrover in a country lane. The murky story of what happened to them and the subsequent tales of violence, drug deals and rival gangs soon became folklore.
Explored before in films such as Essex Boys and Rise of the Foot Soldier, Bonded By Bood takes the story into more realistic territory with clear-sighted angle.
Starring Tamer Hassan, Terry Stone and Vincent Regan and rising star Keirston Waring, this new Brit gangster flick opens in the UK on 3rd September.
Check out this clip, synopsis and poster below. There’s tonnes of swearing, sex and violence. The film should also be noted for the novel term ‘sh*t-c*nt’.

The Maid (15)
(Sebastián Silva, 2009, Chile) Catalina Saavedra, Claudia Celedón, Mariana Loyola. 96 mins
Less a slice of upstairs-downstairs realism than a black comedy that threatens to turn into a horror movie, this Chilean drama has been scooping awards across the globe, mostly for Saavedra's acting. She's a bravely monstrous creation, a long-suffering help whose resentments rise to the boil, particularly when a younger assistant is foisted on her. But just when we're ready to write her off, this agile, low-budget drama turns it round and confronts us with our own heartlessness. That's us served.
Scott Pilgrim Vs The World (12A)
(Edgar Wright, 2010 Us) Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ellen Wong. 112 mins
This tireless tale of modern loserdom, filtered through pop-culture consciousness, will push the buttons of younger fans, with its onslaught of music/comic book/videogame tricks and hipster humour. Older viewers may need a lie down.
