The first episode did a great job of introducing the characters, getting to know who they are, Foreshadowing the storylines, etc. A lot of shows throw too much or too little at you in the first episode or it doesn't seem to flow at all. I felt like I knew the characters pretty well after an episode and they are all rather dynamic.
One reviewer said they don't seem or act like lawyers. I'm not really sure what that's supposed to mean? As a lawyer in a big city, albeit NOTHING like this (I work pretty normal working hours or well prepandemic world that is since I work from home now), I don't even know how a lawyer is supposed to look or act. And it's quite normal for lawyers to all be in one social circle- friends from law school, from work, etc. You spend a lot of time with people especially at the big law type firms that do have classes and associates per year that are your closest confidants and highest competition all at once.
I had a few consistency issues- main character has a one night stand at a wedding 6 years before and she never knew his name or anything about him. In the world of social media, there is no way you don't know someone's name who is single (no someone's date) at a wedding your a bridesmaid in. You don't ever ask your friend about him? See him in the new husbands IG pictures, he isn't tagged in anything? And ya know, if you know nothing about this man, how in the world does your friend happen to see and English man and know it's him?! Not possible. Also, one guy says and it was mentioned a few times "we are about to turn 30". They are 6 year associates. They'd be 31, not 29. You graduate college at 22, 3 years of law school and the bar exam, then 6 years. Doing M&A I'd assume some of these folks would have done MBA and JD programs as well. Also, all these actors are 35/36. The whole Harvard/lacrosse/rich guy thing is totally a thing in the old boys club of big law, or any law really. Her apartment is totally not believable in Manhattan, also it's obviously filmed at a hotel.
It has great potential.
