This episode starts with the anthem "I Love New York," which was written in 1977 by Steve Karmen for an advertising campaign designed to draw tourists back to the state (and especially to New York City) after the city had developed a reputation for being dangerous and crime-ridden. The ad campaign continued to use the song long into the 1980s in several versions of the ads, many of which featured casts of then-running Broadway shows. In 1980, the ad jingle was adopted as the official song of New York State.
While filming takes place in New York City, the exterior shots of the loft the party takes place in was filmed in Los Angeles California and is the same exterior used in New Girl. The building is located at 837 Traction Ave.
The saying "Say it, forget it. Write it regret it" that Cinda Canning (Tina Fey) says while on the piano at Oliver Puttman's (Martin Short) apartment was said by Real Housewives of New York star Dorinda Medley.
