Terrible
pumping_iron-16 June 2022
I made it through 34 minutes. Although i read emails and texts also during that time. The acting was so horrible it hurt my ears. The fashions hurt my eyes. What was up with Jeff's hairstyle. All of this distracted me from the storyline.

I usually enjoy the cheese but...
JayMusicGirl4 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a sucker for these kinds of cheesy, unrealistic movies, especially any produced by LMN, but this... This was probably one of the worst I've seen by Lifetime, and that's saying a lot. It's easy to say these movies are awful because they aren't high art made for the cinema, instead TV movies churned out like product at a factory but, again, as someone who actually enjoys bad films, this was ridiculous.

Here are my reasons for this conclusion: The villain lady reminded me of an ~evil~ character from a DCOM or a sitcom for kids by Disney or Nick right down to her monologuing aloud. Her acting was hammy, but not in an enjoyable, the actor having fun with the role kind of way. Just... Poor.

Every character and situation was stupid and unrealistic, even for Lifetime standards. Especially the fiance. The evil redhead literally pushed up on him in a completely non-friendly aggressively flirty way and he didn't bat an eyelash or tell his soon-to-be wife. Then there was the wedding cake/dress incident which still didn't completely send him running. Then the stripper scene (also why was these scene shot so hallmark movie-y? Those were the most sfw strippers ever), he didn't recognize her voice? Also didn't he say he didn't even want strippers? And then the whole not recognizing her, really? Like... Why was that not explained in detail? Why does evil red head have zero scars? Also a business-owning woman was wrapped up in plastic bag for an extended period and lived to tell the tale, and nobody concerning her business (and personal life) other than a few clients were really concerned about her whereabouts. Also they apparently were cool with the woman she practically hired off the street with no resume, background check, probably even no tax papers signed, taking over everything?

Lastly, the movie just had an incredibly cheap feel to it. I get it was made during the pandemic but still. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but the way it was shot and how it looks just looks cheap. Also the wedding dress shop set was too sparse and almost looked like a apartment or house? Maybe just me? Also the kids playing (do boys that age typically play wedding dress up with their female friends?) and the "vintage" picture of them taken from deep inside of the closet rather than at the door was just pure cringe. I'm nitpicking but if you're making a movie... Idk I'd put more effort into something, anything that I know thousands will watch...

This will probably be the only review I make on this type of film and for good reason because this has to be one of the worst. I would only recommend it be watched once to just witness how lazy LMN filmmaking can get. Thus I'm giving it two stars for how fun it is to pick out the stupidity, plot holes, and bad hammy acting. But this is not a fun bad movie by any means.

Good title, but not a good movie.
CranberriAppl9 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Macy and Jordy seem to be the only ones in this movie trying to "act." The villain, Amy, was awful as was the groom. Amy was so inappropriate in her interactions with him, and for him not to even be bothered was a joke. It would have been better if she'd revealed herself as his old friend to them and Amy/whatever his name is could have caught up as friends and she could have kept up her schemes while sabotaging the wedding. Instead, she's the typical Lifetime nut that can't do anything without killing. After years and years of these same old templates, I can't believe how cringy it still is to watch these desperate villains throw themselves at men and women who do not want them. Sometimes it's better executed, but here it is not. The villain is so cheesy. How did she just take over that shop? The owner didn't have any assistants? How could she handle multiple orders w/o help? The poor lady gets choked out, stashed in the trash, nobody but Jordy (who was not even her customer) cares? She didn't have other customers? I don't remember any dialogue where she said business was that bad.

Some weird editing stuff, like Jordy leaving the bridal shop with a gash on her forearm? I rewound the movie to see if Crazy Amy slashed her but she didn't. It never came up again and the next scene takes place that evening with Macy and her fiance. It was really odd.

I'm writing this as I watch, and I still can't believe how empty this movie is. No extras, no furnishings in these homes. No customers at the bridal shop and the location itself looks like it's an undisclosed location. Macy and Jordy are in a sauna for her bachelorette weekend...not even one or two extras for friends. No wide shots in restaurants. No other hikers on trails. It's so cheap. Even if you account for the restrictions of the last year and a half, I've seen some Lifetime movies with a lot more "padding." Could be the budget but even two people in some of these scenes would have helped. I just watched a sorority movie with Jordy's actress and there were way more people in that one.

Amy talking to herself was tiresome as well and none of her justification made sense. There was just so much to cringe over in this movie. I can't believe I'm saying this but Brutal Bridesmaids was better than this. I actually like several of the writer's movies, so I think it's more the acting/direction/production values than the story. I would like to see (well not really) this movie redone with the budget of say a Lindsay Hartley movie or a Vivica A. Fox movie.

Pass and wait for this story to be done again.

Poor Acting
mirose213 November 2021
Did the actors in this movie have to audibly "sigh" so much? This was distracting to me. The storyline for this movie is interesting but the acting is terrible. I don't know if this is poor directing or a movie with a very low budget. There were so many holes in the continuity!!! Better actors may help it, but the actors actually overacted.

Bad Acting
MsIris26 September 2021
This movie would have been average at best, but the acting was so atrocious, especially that of the male lead, that it took it quickly to sub-par. Because of the bad acting, many of the scenes that were supposed to be serious were comical such as the exaggerated expressions of the villain, Amy, and the totally unimpressive ER doc. Thriller, no. Comedy, kind of. Worth your time, not really.

Complete mess and waste of time
kimberlyanngerber2 October 2021
Generally, I love lifetime and LMN movies. However, it seems as of late the movies are considerably disappointing. I believe it's a combination of bad acting and lackluster storylines. This combined with the fact that nothing produced recently is unique. It seems to be the same psycho based genre that is getting very repetitious and old. It's the same theme played over and over again. This movie is so horrible it's almost comical. I've seen better acting in high school plays. I miss the days when they produced movies with well claimed actors and storylines that gripped you with terror as well as true life stories that had real substance. The storyline in this movie is a bit confusing especially surrounding the villainess. Combined this with the same old tale and boring actors who couldn't act their way out of a paper bag. If you happen upon this snooze fest, flipping the channel as fast as you can is the best advice I can offer.

The Wedding Planner
lavatch25 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
There was a good arc of development to "Dying to Marry Him" in the careful preparations for the wedding of Macy Williams to Jeff Dardenswick. But those preparations are derailed by the fiendish machinations of Amy Mackay, the neighbor girl who had a lifelong obsession with Jeff.

After Amy worms her way into the role of wedding planner, everything from the sensuous bridal gown to the delectable wedding cake figures in her master plan to retake Jeff for her own. Along the way, Carrie Taylor, the kind owner of the bridal apparel shop, is put into a coma by Amy, who was generously brought on to work with her in the store.

The major shortcoming of the film was in the lack of credibility and the glacial slowness of Jeff's ability to recognize that Amy was up to no good in the wedding preparations. During their first encounter in which Amy was shamelessly flirting, she confided in Jeff that she was his childhood friend. Yet Jeff did not even seem to recall the times when he and little Amy played the game of "dress up" bride-and-groom and "pretended" to be heading up to the altar together.

Improbably Jeff never even remembered that his very first kiss came from Amy Mackay in one of their "cute" dress-up sessions in the attic. But Amy never forgot that kiss. And the avenging angel attempted to reclaim what she thought was her birthright. Amy first began to hone her acting skills in playing with little Jeff Dardenswick in the attic. Now, she has undertaken a more challenging role as the psycho wedding planner.

This film placed high on the " cheesiest " movie list. Lifetime puts out some hard to watch movies but this one was absolutely laughable. Save yourself some time and pass on this one.

Kehn, Hickey deliver strong performances
forevercharmedproductions1 November 2021
Dying to Marry Him plays on the trope of the loving hero (Kehn) and the classical villain (Mackay) folded in with a complex and tragic past that connects them.

Nathan Kehn did a remarkable job leading this cast. Kehn, who physically resembles is a younger Chris Evans but with all charm and allure of James McAvoy, effortlessly made Jeff Dardenswick a likable character. Kehn's range is flawless as his character goes from easy-going fiance and professor to protector and eventually, determined hero.

Kehn's leading ladies Anna Marie Dobbins and Andrea Hickey, both play well off each other, which builds the love and hate relationship necessary for story building. That said, the writers missed opportunities for Macy Williams (Dobbins) and Dardenswick (Kehn) to have more meaningful scenes as a couple with impending nuptials. The writing oversight combined with Amy Mackay (Hickey) and Dardenswick's (Kehn) chemistry essentially makes you want to root for the villain.

Primarily, the trope plays out as expected, and the second half plays out the opposite of what you feel should happen, but it overall was worth watching at least once.

Let Amy HAVE Him! lol
ginasharp22 July 2022
This would've been a better movie if the main guy getting married was portrayed to have a back bone! He lets the girl hang all over him, doesn't tell his finance' then basically goes upstairs with a stripper and only turns back when he knows it is the insane girl! Not cool dude............. spineless, cheating jerk. Being with a stripper is THE same as cheating with a non-stripper dude! Let Amy have him!!!! You can find better! Not a fan......

Some are crushing on Nathan lol
haroot_azarian10 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Before I start, it seems that two of the contributors are crushing on Nathan Kehn! LOL. He was nothin but mediocre. But anyway as usual we have a psycho antagonist who loves to think out loud ie talk to herself. Anna Marie is a very good actress. She deserved better than this movie. Her agent should have told her that!

Don't Let the Title Fool You!
kikicola2 April 2023
So I decided to watch this one (or not watch) on the LMN Club App. This is so low budget! Terrible acting! It is completely corny! And the Jeff dude's hair....he look like he woke up like that. And not in that Beyonce kind of way! The fashions are dreadful! Did I mention that I couldn't finish the movie. If the app movies are all like this, I definitely plan on cancelling my subscription. I tried hoping it would get better but I only made it with more than an hour left of the movie. The stalker's acting is the worse in this movie. It would have been hilarious if I wasn't so disappointed with my first movie via the subscription.

Best Male Lead Actor
reneefit11 October 2021
Nathan Kehn reminded me of Harrison Ford as Professor Jones (in the love you eyelid clip) when the wedding planner entered the classroom. Moreover he resembles a young Robert Redford in looks and acting style. His heroic entrance in a tux near the movie's end had a sophisticated dance flare. I replayed that part several times to watch how he did this footwork with ease and style. I thought he would be excellent as James Bond. Then his perfect run up the steps looked like he was flying. It made me think of how great he would be as the next Batman or Captain America. Nathan Kehn makes this movie a must see for anyone who likes to watch undiscovered talent. Furthermore Nathan's acting talent is easily seen on his Instagram page.

We all have an Amy in us or After us, Which one are you?
orimarjr29 September 2022
Lifetime movies obviously are made with limited budgets, I don't mind its a great place to find standout actors. Plot trends along the famous SWF from the 80s which is a classic, Amys character brings that SWF energy. Anyone knows an Amy knows exactly what i am talking about, Manipulative and calculating in attempt to bend the worlds will towards them. Warning If you are an Amy you may not be able to handle this movie! Macy does great at playing aloof they are the two standout characters, great plot by the writer, for originality. This is every brides worst nightmare next to being stood up. If you are a bride to be you may want to take notes, I had a few Amys in my life and its uncanny how accurate portrayed crazy this SWF brings her A game to the screen. Macy was cast great too, love her presence is unavoidable when she's on screen feel she could have had some more scenes and lines, I can see this being reworked on the big screen with the two head actresses on a big budget. It would slay, Definitely. Ill be following these two in the future. Great work Amy and Macy.
