An interesting political-drama episode...

I'll be honest when I say this but I enjoy the political aspect of The Clone Wars and this episode is an example of that. Filled with some undercover action and moral conflicts this episode is a nice mix of both and adding to that the Jedi and a Star Wars setting it give me some really enjoyable time.

The Plot Thickens

Mandalorian Duchess Satine and Obi Wan arrive on Coruscant where they face further plots to bring about the occupation of Mandalore. Death Watch also make further attempts on Satine's life.

This is a very enjoyable, high class episode with good action, intrigue and strong dialogue as well as lovely animation.

My rating: 9/10.

Duchess of Mandalore

Is there one honorable person on Mandalore? It would not seem that way, as Satine once again found herself in danger in this episode. I would say that the thread is a little thin at this point, but I still believe that all of this is on purpose to show that her rule is not as good as she would like it to be. I liked the on-the-run storyline of the episode, and it gave Satine some time to really shine. The episode returned to the roots of the prequels' politics but continues to do it better than they ever did. The writing still great and the characters continue to develop nicely. The dialogue was very good this week as well, and the interactions between Obi-Wan and Satine continue to be a highlight. This is the end of an arc, but I am excited to return to Mandalore again soon.

Giving Non-Violence a Chance

This episode feels like the first one so far that actually gave credence to the pacifist part of the pacifist/defensive violence dichotomy that the show has wrestled with on several occasions. I am not saying I like this episode because it appeals to my feeling of pacifism but because it managed to actually have a plotline that exposes the dangers of even well-intentioned military intervention. As Satine wisely pointed out, sending in the Republic military would only encourage further violent resistance on Mandalore. This is something that has happened numerous times in human history and, without mentioning what, is happening now. This episode didn't delve in to the idea too deeply and the plot mechanics themselves were fairly dull (the chase scene was short and not all that exciting), but I appreciate the show establishing why pacifism, in certain scenarios, isn't an absurd idea. I was afraid the show was going to keep harping on the idea that military intervention by the good guys is always a good idea.
