Sex & Nudity

  • A man and a woman have sex, shown for a few seconds. Breasts are seen for a split-second, but there is no male nudity.
  • There's a brief scene where a man attempts to rape a woman. He pulls her skirt down - panties and skin are visible for a second. Those parts are visible for another second later.
  • A woman takes off her dress and walks into a room, implying that she and a man are going to have sex. Her bare back is briefly seen.
  • During conjugal visits at the prison, some inmates have sex with their loved ones in tents. The tents shake back and forth, but nothing is shown.
  • A man's back is waxed by semi-nude women. Nothing graphic is seen.

Violence & Gore

  • The opening scene include a man coughing up blood during a violent car chase. Guns shots are also fired in the chase with a car crash that results in a car flipping over.
  • Soon after getting put in jail, a man is beaten by a group of men.
  • Several scenes involving head shots and bodies exploding. Several characters are killed fully onscreen with blood being shown.
  • A man is shot multiple times execution style at close range on screen.
  • Some violence involves a 10 year old boy.
  • Frank hires hitman (dealers) to kill Driver in an over the top shootout. Hitmen appear frightening as they walk slow motion and you hear there boots hit the floor. Blood and gore is present as the shootout progresses. Driver kills 13 men and women.

Profanity

  • 42 uses of 'fuck', 14 uses of 'shit', 5 uses of 'bitch', and 1 use each of 'asshole', 'dick' (as an insult), and 'prick'.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Some inmates shoot heroin fleetingly in the background. A man snorts cocaine briefly.
  • Some smoking and drinking, at times involving children.
  • Occasional dialogue about drug trafficking.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The opening scene may turn off some viewers.
  • An intense sequence involving toe-cutting and execution.
  • The movie has elements of a black comedy; characters tend to have few redeeming qualities.
  • Several rough scenes involving a 10 year old boy (he tries to kill some gangsters in the movie).

Violence & Gore

  • During a surgery, an incision is shown being in a on a persons abdomen. Later a brief shot of the interior of the abdomen is shown when an organ is removed.
  • Carlos carries a two tone M1911A1 pistol which ends up down the toilet (literally) after "Gringo" ambushes him and hides it intending use it for later. Gringo later uses it to kill Caracas (Jesús Ochoa) during a drug fuel rampage with blood spurting out of the gunshot wound.
  • A US Border Patrol officer fires what appears to be firing a SIG-Sauer P220 at "Gringo" (Mel Gibson) and his accomplice. It appears to be an airsoft version.
  • The Gringo (Mel Gibson) later uses an Armalite AR-18 with a scope to kill two of Frank's men. This is a quick kill with no blood shown.
